We took a quick color tour get away trip north from Macomb County to St. Ignace, traveling around both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Charvoix was our first stop, and spent the night at the AmericInn. What a nice place! We also crossed the Mighty Mac to get a pastie in St. Ignace.

The AmericInn By Wyndham in Charlevoix, MI, is a very nice hotel that was easy on the wallet. Our room was clean and well taken care of, and the staff was excellent and friendly. The hotel is about 10 minutes north of downtown Charlevoix and across the road from a very nice golf course. It is a short drive to multiple wineries and other tourist locations such as Boyne City, Petosky, Walloon Lake, Traverse City, and Mackinac. 10/10 I would definitely stay again.

Long multiple pieces of hair found on walls of the shower and inside, toilet needed wiping off before using, questionable white stains on the carpet (did not dare walk barefooted), room was in need of vacuuming, dust and fingerprints everywhere, table lamp lightbulb not working, bedskirt all torn and ripped up, yellowed worn out sheets, sheets and multiple pillowcases put on wrong side out, bed on right side was completely messed up and felt like you would roll out onto the floor at any moment (mattress was terrible in general), pillows looked and felt like they had been used for 20 years, lampshades were stained and nasty, lighting above bathroom sink was so dim you could hardly see to do anything, huge stains all along hallways and stairs and had I not already paid for the room, I would have walked out. Next time, I will ask to see any room before paying. However, will not be staying here again. I actually manage a hotel, and I would be mortified if I placed a guest in something so deplorable. It would simply never happen. I dislike leaving such reviews, but something really needs to be done about the guest rooms.

This was a nice hotel. It was clean and the staff was friendly. If you can't climb stairs, ask for a room on the main floor.

The room had a horrible smell, and the tub was either not cleaned or it had permanent stains. Feeling so icky, not sleeping well was no surprise.

Great location for hiking, biking on the trail that runs along 31 to Petoskey as it starts at the hotel. Nice rooms with king beds and fireplaces. Much needed is new carpet in entrances and stairways along with updated “adult” toilets in rooms as they are more a child’s height!

Convenient location to Charlevoix. Good value hotel. Good breakfast selection. Rooms are clean. Staff is friendly. Biggest negative is the poor quality of the beds. Queen mattress' are old, soft. Not supportive for your back. They need replacing.

My spouse and I were in Charlevoix over the last weekend of July 2024 for the Venetian Festival and stayed at this AmericInn on the Friday night and Saturday night of the weekend. Our check-in process went smoothly, and the lady checking us in on Friday night was very friendly and helpful. Our room (#206) was clean and comfortable. We didn't use the pool, but we noticed that the hot tub in the pool area was out of order which was a bummer. We also didn't partake of the breakfast, so we can't really speak to what that was like. But overall, the hotel was all right. Unfortunately, we didn't have any housekeeping service at all for our stayover day (not even to bring fresh towels or anything like that). I wasn't too happy about that. It's an older property but it served its purpose for us well. It was just overpriced, but that's probably because of all the out-of-town visitors who were in Charlevoix for the festival.

This is a nice, smaller, hotel. We were in town for a wedding and reserved the last available room they had. The lobby is very nicely set up with a comfortable sitting area on one side and the breakfast area on the other. The pool happened to be unavailable during our stay but they did call a day before to let us know and would cancel our reservation without a fee. We didn't plan on using it so that wasn't a problem. One of the issues was that the room smelled like someone had left a gym bag of dirty socks in it. We opened the window to ventilate it while I looked the place over for any old laundry. I couldn't find any and the smell lessened or we just grew accustomed to it. The room had a gas fireplace but the gas was turned off. Since it was the end of May and a warm weekend I didn't bother to see if it could be turned on. Unfortunately we couldn't leave the window open the entire time because we had a ground floor room facing the parking lot. Long story short, the smell never left the room and seemed worse the second day. I did let them know about it but the hotel was fully booked and couldn't do anything about it. The morning breakfast ran from 6:30 - 10:00 and was okay for a hot breakfast. There was biscuits and sausage gravy, waffles and bagels offered on the hot side. Cereal, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, and bananas on the cold side of things. They had coffee, tea and hot chocolate drinks along with orange juice and milk. It would have been nice to have scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage but they didn't. All in all it was a nice place but we were happy to leave after the second night.
