Brian was super helpful and accommodating. He was very responsive and there when you needed him. It was also nice to stay somewhere - where we could help ourselves to breakfast at the time we wanted and have lovely fresh fruit available as well as plenty of cereal, porridge and toast to carbo load for our cycling event. I also liked having the amazing supply of tea and coffee. On top of this the bedroom was comfy and clean and the location was quiet. Thanks for everything.

A well run old school B&B offering great value for money and genuine hospitable service. I stayed for 2 weeks whilst excavating at Vindolanda and it offered the best of both worlds with a continental breakfast as well as a fully equipped kitchen for dinner preparation. Throw in the use of a drying room, washing machine and dryer and it made a very convenient base. I would definitely use the same accommodation if I return to the area, which I hope I will do!

Coruscating accommodation in somnolent hamlet. Fantastic for Hadrian’s Wall and Hexham. £60 for single room is a steal. Owners extremely obliging and helpful: brekker can be enjoyed in the expansive kitchen and dining area. Many thanks to Brian for super stay.

A super place to stay with comfortable, well appointed rooms. The self serve breakfast is really convenient and the location is near to shops, restaurants and a nice river walk. Stayed for 4 days when walking central part of Hadrians Wall- couldn’t have been better. Kitchen allowed me to prep own food if I didn’t feel like going out and washing machine and drying room were a god send. Brian the host couldn’t have been more helpful. Would highly recommend this friendly home from home with extras

Attentive hosts, shared knowledge about the area and best places to eat. Really nice standard of room for the price. comfortable stay, would highly recommend. Would happily stay again. Decent eating options near by. P.S. Sorry I forgot to give the bug spray back!

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Reading Room. The accommodation was clean, well maintained and pleasant- exactly what we needed. However the highlight was definitely their service- Brian was a wonderful host who went above and beyond to make our trip to Hadrians wall as easy as possible. Would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic stay at the Reading Rooms, the host Brian is very knowledgeable about he local area and we had lovely friendly greeting. The room was perfect for us, good en-suite, nice views and comfy beds. The self serve breakfast was ideal as we were able to take our time in the morning. The selection for breakfast was very good, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast, fresh juice & tea's / coffee.

Really nice place, owner was very friendly and helpful. Secure storage for bikes in the shed. Loved the self service breakfast, no cooked breakfast but plenty of choice. Lovely view of the river out of the bedroom window. Place is situated right in the middle of the village.

Wow! This place is fantastic, a great room, very comfortable and warm with decent facilities. Toilet and shower are very clean and accessible. We got lost and bryan came out of his way for us. The owner was lovely. We came as strangers and left as friends .
