So friendly, welcoming and clean. A genuine country hotel run by people who love their jobs and it shows. Always a pleasure to come here, one of our absolute favourite places - whatever the weather and time of the year. Going back again next month!

We usually visit out of season, where the place is very quiet. Today, we visited and the place was full, no seats available inside. No problem, we said, we'll sit outside. As it was sunny, but blowing a gale, we decided not to have a meal, but husband went inside to get a couple of drinks and 2 bags of crisps. He went to the Bar to order. No one came. Eventually, he caught someone's eye, who asked if he was ordering food. No he said, just drinks. Well, she said, you'll have to get in the queue over there, because we don't serve at the Bar. Eh? It's a pub. There was a queue of about 4 people, waiting to order food at at till by the door, but also a load of orders to process, I guess from the table servers. My husband said the staff didn't seem very friendly and pulling 1 pint and a glass of water should have been easier at the Bar. It's a nice place, stunning views from outside and nice coastal walks. BUT, it's a bit of a difficult drive down the lanes, busy today and we had to reverse several times for on-coming traffic. We won't be going back. Shame really, as I'm guessing our trade would be welcome in the winter months, when we usually visit. Note to staff: treat people a bit better with long term custom on mind. We are around all the time, not just in the summer holidays. Suggest allowing drinks only orders at the Bar. Would reduce queue for folks ordering food too.

The Hartland Quay is a really quirky property. The location is absolutely stunning! The dramatic seascapes are almost part of the decor! My room was comfortable, really clean and had everything I needed. I had dinner in the pub that is part of the hotel. The food was really good and the staff excellent. Breakfast was really good too….especially the home made raspberry jam….made with real raspberries and there were bits of real raspberry in it!!! I really enjoyed my stay, staff were lovely and helpful. Will definitely go back for a longer stay

A great place to recover after a long day of walking. This place is magnificent; a night lulled by the sound of the waves and a wake-up call from the seagulls. The room was clean. The welcome was very friendly and the evening meal very good. A drawing room is available for drying clothes and walking shoes. The possibility of ordering sandwiches which they accompany with an apple and chocolate and cereal bars for the day's walk the next day is a plus. I loved this place.

A fabulous stay. A lovely clean cosy room with friendly staff. We had a wonderful evening meal and breakfast which was great value and very tasty. I would definitely recommend and will stay again. The weather was poor but was wonderfully atmospheric on the rugged coastline. A great place to visit whatever the weather.

I stay here with my wife for a couple of days every summer to catch up with friends and relations in the area. I think it a very well run hotel. The staff are friendly and happy, and its always spotlessly clean. The breakfasts are great, and the attached pub serves a variety hearty pub-style dishes (some of which are to my mind a bit eccentric). It is popular with walkers, and it is not remotely pretentious which is one of the main reasons I like it. In fact, I am reluctant to recommend it on TripAdvisor because I don't want anyone else to find out about it and I don't want it ever to be sold to a boutique hotel chain! If there is a downside, it is that it's a popular location for filming, and when that happens the whole place becomes overrun by rude and officious location crews who like nothing better than to direct traffic and demand that people don't take photos of them and pretend that they don't know the name of the production they are working on. But fortunately, they disappear at the end of the day, never to be heard of again.

Fantastic hotel with scenery to die for. This is an old traditional hotel but perfectly clean and functional. The management are fantastic and the staff are also helpful and friendly. The food and drinks are great with lots of quality and choice. We can’t wait to go back. There is free parking and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the coastal scenery. 5 star highly recommended!

A perfect place to stay on our SWCP walk. Amazing location, right alongside the ocean. Room was fine, nice shower and bed. Staff are really helpful and friendly and the pub is great for evening meal. Breakfast was great - would be be helpful if it started just a bit earlier than 8.15am..
