My family stayed here for a week on vacation and had an amazing experience! My daughter was really sick when we arrived and the front desk associate, Makaya checked in on her the next day to make sure she was feeling better. Every front desk associate was very kind and welcoming. Have to specifically give a shoutout to Makaya because she helped me and was very patient when I was having issues with my debit card to pay for my rooms. Highly recommend!

I have never been treated at a hotel the way I was just treated at the Hampton Inn Hampton-Newport News. The front desk worker, Makaya, was atrocious to work with. We arrived at 9pm after a long flight and checked in to our room only to find out that it was not the room that I had booked. Someone named Jaclyn had gone in and changed my room type without asking me or any notification. Ok, I can work with that. Just give us 2 rollaway beds and we will be good to go. Was told that is a fire hazard. Ok, no problem. Just give me a room with 2 beds. Not an option. Has everyone checked in? Makaya said they had. Everyone had checked in to every room at the hotel. Mind you, the parking lot was barely full. At 9pm. Well, Jacalyn changed my room, so change someone's room who hasn't checked in. Makaya wasn't doing that. Can I speak to a manager? No. Makaya is the only one here. Well, is my daughter supposed to sleep on the floor? Makaya said, well? WELL? I booked a room with a couch for a reason. Makaya wouldn't call a manager, wouldn't change my room, wouldn't give me a roll away bed, said she was the only one there and couldn't help other than to cancel my reservation and said I could just go find somewhere else to stay. She had an attitude the entire time and offered no solutions for YOUR HOTEL'S mistake. There is a huge basketball tourney in town and very few rooms are available. Makaya could not have cared less. She was rude the entire time. Tried to rush us off to get us out of her way. When I came back down to cancel the room with customer care on the phone, she helped someone else in front of me even after I asked her to hurry and cancel my room so I could use some of my points to book another room at a HIGHER RATE. I plan my summer out months in advance to lock in the best prices as we travel every week for basketball. I am currently in another hotel, paying more and staying further away from my venue and all of this had to be dealt with at 11pm at night. If I could give 0 stars, I would. And I am a Gold member. If Jaclyn was not giving me an upgrade, my room should never have been changed.

The pillows weren’t the best, and the mattress was fair. But I have to admit my husband and I loved 🥰 staying there. If it wasn’t for attending my mother’s funeral, it really would have been a lovely retreat! Friendly staff, happy customers and not just us either. Great selection for breakfast. Rooms were clean. Recommend highly!

The air conditioning was messed up and our room was 92 degrees. We called to ask for help. And the front desk was very rude along with the maintenance person. I called to see if we could switch rooms. And the person at the front desk was very sarcastic and rude.

Great stay! Accommodations were exactly what was needed for our stay. Traffic heading to Norfolk was unexpected AND long due to construction, so plan accordingly if needing to go to that area. Otherwise, great hotel!

I've been coming here regularly from Colorado while my daughter was a student at the nearby Hampton University. This hotel is top-notch. I almost want to go back, though I now have now reason since she's graduated.

Room was clean but bathroom needed some repairs - toilet would keep running if we didn’t jiggle the handle and shower doors leaked. Bed was comfortable but pillows too soft for us. Breakfast was standard hotel fare and area was kept clean and stocked. Common areas were well appointed and maintained. Room was extremely quiet! Staff was friendly. Overall we just expect more for the price we paid for our stay.

I was at this location of Hampton by Hilton recently and realized weeks after being there I had potentially left something import in our room. Nothing like that sick feeling of something important being gone😅. I set my feelings aside and took a chance in calling the hotel, as a last resort for finding what had been missing (I had tuned my house upside down trying to find my lost treasure)! Between Katherine, in Guest Services; Trenita, in Housekeeping, and Tuesday, the General Manager my lost items were found and had been safe for two weeks, waiting for me to call regarding them. Katherine was quick to confirm all of my contact information and assured me she would call before her shift ended at 3:00. She called back within minutes to share Trenita confirmed my treasured items! Katherine shared my items would be sent back to me via UPS ground and that I’d have it back in a few days. She also gave me the tracking number! After a few hours, I realized I needed my items quicker than UPS Ground. I called Katherine back and she said Tuesday would send it UPS overnight and take it personally to UPS. Katherine called me at lunch time to say Tuesday was walking out the door and even texted me the tracking number, as I was not in a place I could write it down. The package arrived next day, even earlier than expected! So, if you are wondering why in the world I’m taking all this time to share my story, it’s this: These three ladies: Katherine, Trenita, and Tuesday went above and beyond to keep my items safe, and returned them to me with such care and consideration! Customer Service is alive and well at Hampton by Hilton in Hampton, Virginia! I’m not only a fan but will stay at your location as long as you all are there! Thank you for taking such good care of me, not only during my stay but two weeks afterwards as well! I’m truly grateful! Hey, Hampton by Hilton, these ladies deserve recognition by corporate for going above and beyond! Ps: The super sweet thank you card is attached from my package upon delivery. They were thanking me❤️!

Hilton should be ashamed to call this their property. The rooms were dingy and furniture looked like it was found in the dumpster. The curtains were stained with God knows what. The hotel was full or I would've asked for a new room.
