Beautiful place to stay. We enjoyed everything about it-the cleanliness, the friendly atmosphere, the comfort of the bed and pillows, and the balcony outside of our beautiful room. The breakfast was delicious too. Thank you for making our anniversary trip memorable and enjoyable.

I stayed two nights in the Josephine Room, on the second floor of the main house. There was a lot to like: A cheerful, strong, helpful young man named Jack hauled my luggage up the many stairs to my room. The room’s French theme informed the charming décor. The under-window AC unit kept the room cool despite the hot, humid weather. The blackout curtains were easy to close and very effective – necessary, because the lawn’s lights stay on overnight. The sleigh bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, and the inn supplied tiny bars of soap, individual bottles of shampoo and conditioner, qtips, cotton balls and Kleenex. It was quiet. Even with 2 of the 3 neighboring rooms occupied, I heard no noise from the other rooms. Guests were careful to be quiet in the hallway. The convenient common area, in the wide hallway outside the four guest rooms, had a well-supplied coffeemaker, full size fridge, microwave oven, chairs and a door onto a balcony porch. Breakfast, cooked fresh upon my arrival in the dining room downstairs, was simple but tasty: scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, croissant, OJ, coffee. Why I would not stay here again: The common areas (main floor, stairwell, second floor hallway) smelled extremely musty, as if the carpets, walls and furniture needed a good cleaning. Aside from the bed and bathroom, the rest of my room needed a thorough cleaning. I removed a piece of dried up food (perhaps an old Cheeto?) from the floor under the desk. There were thick layers of dust on top of my room’s door frames and chair rail mouldings. Given the obvious lack of vacuuming and dusting, I avoided looking at the carpet, curtains, wall hangings and ceiling fan, afraid I would find more filth. The upholstery on some of my room’s furniture looked old, worn and dirty. I put a towel on the desk chair rather than sit directly on its upholstery. I did not use the dingy chaise lounge. My room’s closet was hot, musty, under an eave, down a step, inconvenient and unpleasant. I did not use it, afraid that my clothing would end up smelling musty. If only the room had a coat rack or hooks on the wall, so clothing could hang in the room rather than the yucky closet! The wifi was weak and unreliable, often without internet connection. There was a very high step up into the shower (and therefore a significantly large step down to exit the shower). It took a long time to get hot water and the shower’s water pressure was barely adequate. To reach its potential, this inn needs more attention to basic details.

Well, we had high hopes for what appeared to be a beautiful place. It used to be, and still could be with minimal upkeep. The site we booked through did NOT say we were not staying in the beautiful house. It was instead hidden in a pretty nice grove of trees and you could not see the building. As it turned out, that was probably on purpose. Somebody had some nice decorating ideas 20-25 years ago. The first night the two tv's did not work. The next day we asked for them to be fixed. They fixed one of them; sort of. You could watch, but no volume. We again asked the next day to have the other fixed, and it finally was, halfway thru our visit. The site we booked through said that Chef (someone) watched over the food. I don't think the Chef was around during our visit. The same sad, cold, IDENTICAL meal both days. NO CHOICE. We didn't even go to see what breakfast was the last two days. The shower door would not close, but it DID have a heater and a couple of spiders did not deter me from going to the bathroom at night!!! Hubs took a shower and the hot water cut out halfway through. We decided NOT to try to fill the spa tub as a cold bath would not be fun. We asked for toilet paper the last day, and never got it. The last two nights somebody came to our door ACTIVELY trying to get in. We chalked it up to the neighborhood. By that time, we were just ready to go.

We spent one night at this beautiful historic home. We enjoyed the beautiful porches with wine at night and coffee in the morning. I recommend this place to anyone who would like a night to just get away.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed visiting with the host in the dining area. On the way out of breakfast I stopped to admire the beautiful front door of the mansion. A woman came up and stood right beside me while I was looking closely at the intricate glass of the door. My husband and I got the distinct feeling I was in her way. I left to go out the side door. It felt like she was herding us out of the building. What would have otherwise been a good visit was ruined by the rudeness of this woman.

Had a rehearsal dinner there on May 19, 2022. The 1/2 cup of gumbo was tasty. The salad was a bag salad of spring greens. The dressing was a liquid the consistency of water, not sure what it was. The main meal was to be filet, fish with a sauce, broccoli and dirty rice. You received 1/2 of a filet that was cooked well done, cold and hard. The fish was broiled, cold and hard. The broccoli was over cooked and mushy and the dirty rice was cold. Ate about 1/4 of it. The dessert was a frozen chocolate cake with a sliver of cheesecake with Hershey's chocolate syrup drizzled on it. Was awful and I feel bad for the mother and father of the groom who had to pay for it. The wedding food the following day was much better.

Upon arrival there was no one home however they did pull up shortly after we arrived. The lady that met us couldn’t find the key and didn’t know which room we were staying in. A gentleman showed up shortly after and found the key and took us to our cottage. Honestly, neither one of these people were very friendly and acted like we were in the way and not very welcoming. We had to ask about breakfast and how to adjust the a/c. The room was spacious and had a little porch on it which was nice. When we showed up for breakfast the next morning, no one was there-doors were locked. The gentleman showed up shortly after and did serve up a good breakfast-basic eggs, sausage and a biscuit. The second morning, there were more guests there and breakfast was served timely. This is a beautiful property and a little hospitality could go a long way!
