Courtyard Chicago Southeast/Hammond, IN

We arrived after a plane ride and a 1-hour drive, to find out that there was no restaurant (Bistro) as shown on the hotel website. We had to eat some snacks from the store, which I don't like to do. They also offered no breakfast. The check-in experience was average.

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Hammond Indiana from 9/29/23 to 10/3/23. We're loyal Marriott customers, but this stay didn't measure up to Courtyard's standards. (We realize that the hotel is in the middle of being redecorated, but our problems had nothing to do with that.) We checked in at midnight on Friday after a long flight delay. The bartender in the "bistro" told us that breakfast would be served until 11am on Saturday. However, the next day they closed at 10am and we missed breakfast. Would it have killed him to consult some official listing of their hours, instead of just guessing? (However, many thanks to the guy who took pity on us on Saturday and got us some cereal and fruit and leftover coffee, even though they were officially closed.) Speaking of cereal, how is it right for a Courtyard to gradually run out of Kellogg's cereal over the course of a 4-night stay? The first morning there were only two boxes of non-sugary cereal, one (1) Raisin-Bran and one (1) Rice Krispies. We ate them. Then after that first day, it was all sugar-coated so we couldn't have any cereal. Over the following three days there were fewer and fewer little boxes on the shelf. Had they ordered too little? Was it somehow impossible to replenish their stock? On the first day there was fresh fruit in cups for sale. It was good. The following days the unsold cups were STILL in the fridge for sale, no longer fresh. Hello? You have to throw away the old fruit when it doesn't sell, and prepare fresh new fruit for your customers. Our room phone never worked at all. We asked at least twice. We understand that there may have been a good reason for it being out of order. But good customer service would have included a little note saying, "So sorry, the phone can't be repaired because _____. Have a nice day!" instead of making us wonder if they were even trying to fix it. Likewise, on the first day the desk lamp didn't work. We had to ask twice and it finally worked on the third day. Why didn't they notice that the desk lamp and the phone weren't working and alert us before we checked in? The first day, we asked the cleaners for some extra coffee and hand soap for the sink, and also for hand lotion of which there was none. They said yes. However, not only didn't they give us any of this, they never serviced our room at all. The next day we specifically asked the desk clerk to get us coffee, and hand lotion and hand soap for the sink, but they only got us a small bottle of hand lotion. No coffee. We've never stayed in a nice hotel before that did not automatically stock the bathroom sink with hand soap and hand lotion. And coffee. The first day, there was no liquid soap in the dispenser in the shower. How is that even possible? The cleaners simply need to check the dispenser every day. That's the only reliable system for ensuring that the dispenser will not run out. The third day, although our room was serviced, the cleaners didn't replenish our coffee

my family and I came expecting the usual Marriot experience, we were extremely displeased, disappointed, and disgusted. we paid $350 dollars for a roach room. We couldn’t see out the window because of how dirty it was, the pull out bed looked like a crime scene with springs, it was absolutely disgusting and i refused to sleep on it while my other family members slept in the bed. the wall paper is falling apart, the toilet won’t stop running and making sounds, and the room is just overall really gross. it is very understaffed and the advertising for this place is so false and wrong. i would never ever recommend staying here.

Hotel is quiet/ staff were friendly- easy parking & very easy to get to. Lots of food nearby and close to PNW college campus. No frills- Nothing fancy- hotel is clean and a good stay for a few nights.

We booked for 4 people but the room only sleeps 3. The pullout couch is a twin size bed. I requested a change in room but they had none available. For families of 4, the king with a pullout won’t work. Usually we love this option at other hotels. Good luck.

Visited the Courtyard as part o a wedding in town, booked weeks in advance as part of the block online, but as the date approached the block was "sold out" online. Called front desk and asked about possibility of extending trip an extra night as part of the block rate still, even though sold out online and hotel was more than flexible to get an additional night added on at the locked block rate even though past the deadline. Checked in via the Bonvoy app in advance, and room was ready at time of arrival, quick stop at front desk and keys were already prepped and ready to hand over with minimal work. 1 King w/ Sofa Bed (Rm. 215) was very comfy and roomy for what was needed. As some others have said, at times the room did have a mild "staleness" or mildewy scent to it, but running the air knocked that odor out almost 100%. Free continental breakfast in lobby, while not fancy or abundant, was decent for the $0 price tag and saved some cash for other meals. Would return to this hotel if in town. Great service from all staff, with a special shoutout to Selina/Selena for her great customer service from booking in advance through checkout ensuring all needs were met.
