I chose Kikusuitei after reading reviews. It's located right in front of Lake Hamana and has a great location. I was happy to leave my luggage there even though I hadn't checked in yet. The building itself is old. There were fresh flowers in the room, which was lovely. There was a free welcome drink. There was tea in the room, but it was just powdered tea in a bag, so it would have been nice to have tea made from tea leaves since I'd come all the way to Shizuoka. The bath water was lukewarm. The changing room was dark, but the bathroom had a panoramic view of Lake Hamana. However, there were bees sinking in the indoor bath and countless small bugs floating in the open-air bath, and when I soaked in the bath, the bugs stuck to my body and it was very uncomfortable. Therefore, I only went into the hot spring once... I guess it's unavoidable due to the location, so it would have been nice to have a bug net. I left a lot of the food, but it was still delicious. The sashimi was fresh and the sesame tofu was excellent. The sea bream rice at the end was also delicious, and although it was bad manners, it was even more delicious when I poured roasted green tea on it. Breakfast was a half-buffet, with free refills of the main dish, miso soup, and curry. There was a wide variety of side dishes that went well with rice.
