Holdsworth House Hotel

My wife and I visited for Afternoon Tea. We had rung ahead earlier in the day to move the booking back in the afternoon. Despite the fact that they were busy they managed to move our booking to suit. The Afternoon Tea was one of the very best I’ve had, in a fabulous setting. The sandwiches were delicious and the cakes and scones were also excellent. The variety was great, everything tasted wonderful and given the overall quality of the food, I thought the price was really quite reasonable. I would certainly recommend a visit.

Went for afternoon tea with my sister for her birthday absolutely amazing,wonderful staff can’t do enough for you. Fabulous location and the property is beautiful. The scones were delicious and lovely and warm fresh tea leaves in china cups.

We had the pleasure of getting married here on bank holiday Sunday of this year, and me and my husband couldn't have asked for a better day. All of the staff on the day were absolutely amazing. They worked so hard and went above and beyond. I really cannot thank them enough. I would especially like to thank Michelle for all of her hard work on the day. You really were a superstar. The food was great and we got alot of compliments on it. So thank you so much too the wonderful kitchen staff for all of your hard work. The DJ they had for the evening was also brilliant. Everyone seemed to love the music and up until the later hours the dance floor was always full. The only thing that let it down slightly was the attitude of one member of staff (who shall rename nameless) during the breakfast the next day. Upon asking a simple question about where our things were from the night before. We received a very abrupt response, which my stepmum pointed out was quite rude. All of the staff we had encountered that morning had asked how we enjoyed the day, except this one person who was quite involved with the process from day one. It kind of give of 'we've got your money now I don't care' kind of vibes. Which put a downer on the entire morning. The breakfast was good though, and we found all the breakfast staff to be very polite and professional. If you are looking to get married here I wouldn't hesitate to book. It really is a beautiful building, and you will have the best day.

W Had a voucher for my 70th Birthday, went with a friend but will not go back again. Lovely house lovely staff but food was. terrible & not worth the money. Sandwiches were good , cakes & fancies were very poor & the scones or rock cakes were just that, got a box to bring home , hubby tried & again he said they were terrible. Again would not go back very disappointed.

Our daughter held her wedding here at the weekend, gorgeous hotel, lovely food and very friendly attentive staff, everything was perfect from start to finish, we stayed overnight and the rooms and breakfast were lovely, would definitely recommend.

A truly memorable stay! Loved everything about this hotel. If you're looking for a historic property with gorgeous gardens, thick stone walls, dark wood interiors, lovely staff, good food and drinks, and a feeling of privacy, tucked down a long driveway, and located a reasonable distance from town center, this is it. A special shout out to Anthony who was amazing and cares for the guests in a manner not often seen in most hotels these days. All of the staff were as kind and helpful as they come. We definitely hope to come back again for a longer stay!

Arrived at hotel and looks quite nice , nice staff etc , I booked into an executive suite and to be fair the room was nice / very comfy bed .. had an evening meal . 8oz ribeye / beef fat chips / salad bowl .. Breakfast was very good / not greasy just the right size portion / sausage / egg / 2 bacon / black pudding / tomato .. and good selection of cereals etc Steak £33.00 ? Very shocked at the cost .. was just ok .. beef fat chips 10/10 Salad bowl again very over priced !! No onion .. All in all was nice room however food very over priced ..

Just returned from a two-night stay at the Holdsworth House Hotel & Restaurant. What a wonderfully charming and historic listed hotel full of beautiful features and landscaped gardens. We had an executive suite which was very nice, although the bed was a little high which meant that it wasn't the easiest bed to get in or out of. Otherwise the suite was very tastefully furnished with a settee and armchair and widescreen TV. Although there were 2 bottles of water in our room upon arrival, and these were both drunk the first night they weren't replaced unlike the tea/coffee/milk. That probably is our only real complaint. The staff - friendly, professional, knowledgeable, efficient; all of the above from our warm and friendly greeting when we arrived, to the breakfast staff to those who served us at the small bar and in the dining room, particularly Anthony. They really couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was a delight with plenty of choice from smashed avocado on sourdough, to a full English. We had dinner there both evenings, a Rib-Eye steak on the first night whilst my wife had the chicken supreme and we both indulged with the fish and chips on our second night. All meals were very tasty and couldn't be faulted. All in all a very relaxed and enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for a night, what a lovely hotel, we had an excecutive suite which was lovely and very clean, the only down side for me was the bed was very hard and found this a little disappointing. The staff are very friendly and the hotel and gardens are beautiful. Fabulous breakfast.
