Family-friendly Hotels in Hakone

Location was great, just behind the train station. Room was huge and spacious with dining area. Did not book with meals, counter staff first said we can walk in to Japanese restaurant without booking for dinner, other restaurants require reservation. When we returned in the evening, manager insisted all restaurants require reservation and Japanese restaurant was not open, only Chinese restaurant available. Unfortunately whole hakone was almost closed by 5pm, no choice but to take the Chinese food. Booked private onsen with counter, staff at onsen counter had wrong rates and took a while to clarify, seems like half the staff were confused with inaccurate info. Ofher than that, overall one night stay was pleasant, left my milk bottle there and they promptly forwarded to my next hotel upon request. Much appreciated!

Hotel Indigo was recommended to us by a co-worker. She raved about how much she enjoy her stay, so we decided to visit for our Anniversary. We loved everything about this hotel from check in to check out, everything was amazing. The hotel staff always made us feel welcome, by greeting us (by name most of the time) whenever we were out and about in the hotel. Hannah checked us in. She was nice and provided us with information about the area. We had the breakfast included in our stay. The restaurant manager Koji-san was awesome. While not a picky eater, I do like my eggs cooked a certain way...lol.. On the first day of breakfast, my eggs were not cooked to my liking. When my plate was taken, Koji-san noticed that I did not eat my eggs. He immediately came to our table and inquired about the eggs. I told him that they were too soft for me. He apologized and asked if I had enough to eat and said that he would like to try again the next morning. I thought this was such a kind gesture. For the next 4 days, my eggs were cooked exactly how I like them. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but the chef is very good. The salmon and asparagus were my favorites. Our anniversary was on the 22nd and we received a call from the front desk asking if they could bring us a gift for our anniversary. They brought us an assortment of sweet treats, which we enjoyed with a cup of tea. Very sweet. Our room was spacious, clean with the perfect temperature. The television was the largest that I have seen a Japanese hotel. Our room was on the riverside with a private outdoor onsen. While relaxing in the onsen, you can hear the calming sounds of the river. There is also a foot soak in the garden area. it was a bit to cold outside for me, so I didn't get to enjoy it on this stay. The hotel was cleaned thoroughly and safety precautions were taken. All of staff wore masks and for breakfast, we were provided with gloves to get continental items from the buffet. All tables were wiped down immediately after a party left and were socially distanced. The hotel is in close proximity to just about everything. During our 5 day stay, we visited The Open Air Museum, the Venetian Glass Garden, Gora Park, and The Red Gate of Peace. We will definitely be returning and look forward to our next stay in the Spring.

The view from the open-air bath and the feeling of liberation are very pleasant. Especially in summer, it is best to take a nap in a mist shower with a little cool feeling while basking in the sun. Care for the misplacement of cars during narrow and crowded times.
