The pub and inn are very charming and lively. The room was very comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We only had one night there, but wished we could have stayed longer. Warning to US drivers: the roads in that area of Cardiff are very small, and because the pub was so popular when we arrived in the evening, the car park was full. (When we came back from our evening out in Cardiff, we had space to park.)

Visited with my family for a delicious Sunday lunch. My beef was cooked to perfection, so tender. A good selection of dessert too…I would definitely recommend the Crème brûlée. Service was excellent, the staff were all very attentive. I would certainly recommend you visit, book early as it is very popular.

Highly recommended. Received a very warm welcome. The room was very clean and really comfortable. The bar serves excellent real ale and the food, both in the evening and at breakfast, was top notch. I will definitely be staying thereon my next business trip.

My wife and I used to live 20 minutes (by car) away until 10 years ago. We used to visit the pub weekly for the excellent beer, food, welcome and friendly atmosphere. Our dog was also made very welcome. This 5 night bed and breakfast stay was arranged to catch-up with friends, neighbours and family. Walking in the Gwaelod was just as superb as it was 10 years ago. Beer, food, welcome and friendly atmosphere just the same. My wife, who is disabled, has a Registered Assistance Dog who was made very welcome along with all the many other dogs. We had a table booked every day in the cosy bar area and enjoyed some superb food and beer. I've been a CAMRA member for 30 years and the choice and standard of the beer was spot on. We had a very good choice for breakfast every day. Our room was very comfortable and easily accessible from the car park. The Gwaelod "team" looked after us very well and we felt really cared for. We hope to return in 2025. Ivor, Fran & Lucca woof woof

Very good real ale choice; good food; good rooms and spacious, including a fridge with real milk; friendly and helpful staff with good walks and spectacular views nearby. Took a walk down to the River Taff and discovered the history of the thermal spa. That's why I like coming to this place :-)

Good old fashioned Inn tucked away off the beaten track. Great location for Cardiff and attractions in the Vale of Glamorgan. Comfortable room with enormous bed! Excellent food with a good choice and interesting "specials" on the menu. Lots of local real ale and a modest but excellent wine list. Hearty breakfast. Staff were friendly and attentive.

We had a very enjoyable stay after a good family party at the pub. The attic room was very comfortable, though rather too warm. We had to open the windows, but the heavy rain that night meant we couldn't leave them open too much. Also, that heavy rain on the Velux windows did disturb us quite a bit. Nothing that the Inn could do about it, just lead to disturbed sleep.
