The Mill Forge Hotel

We visited the Mill Forge with family and friends for our wedding. The venue was amazing. The staff throughout out stay be it in reception, at the bar or in the restaurant were second to none. They were attentive, polite and always looking to give guests the best experience. We had an amazing 2 days and a fabulous Wedding. Thankyou 🤍xx

We arrived on Friday to get married on Saturday, with 25 of us in total. The whole process has been incredibly easy and stress free. Staff have been amazing throughout the whole process from us booking last year to us leaving this morning. Breakfast was brill, as was the food in the restaurant/bar. We opted for salmon and beef for the wedding breakfast and everyone said how beautiful everything was. The bridal suite was lovely and spacious and spotlessly clean. It also had everything we needed including an iron and ironing board. The grounds are beautiful and we were lucky with the weather, literally cannot wait to get my wedding pictures back. Everyone has throughly enjoyed the weekend and stated what good value the rooms were. So a big thank you to everyone at the Mill, you really have given us the most magical weekend! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a stress free day.

Stayed here to explore Dumfries and Galloway area. Hotel is quaint and in the style of an old motel. Beautiful grounds, cobbles, flowers , fountains and sculptures. Really pretty grounds and even a wee chapel that you can get married in which is very special. Rooms are clean, basic and comfortable. Breakfast is good and freshly cooked to order. Plenty of choice including for Gluten Free diet and Vegetarian. Staff were warm and friendly too. Plenty of parking and good access for disabled people.

The place was great from the ‘get go’; all the staff were first class and need to give a special mention to Leah who was brilliant and the ‘banter’ with her was good. Food and drink service great, room clean and bed comfortable which was great. Overall great experience.

We checked in at the bar as reception was closed when we arrived. The rooms are comfortable with ironing board, tea& coffee facilities, along with information about the local area and some history about the property. Although they were starting to show their age. Plenty of parking on site, including parking outside the rooms. Drink prices are high but having a captive audience this is expected. A variety of food was also available to order in the bar. My only let down was breakfast serving times 7:30 until 9am, being very early and check out by 10am. Not a problem in the week, but for a Sunday morning a little too early. I am sure the breakfast would have been lovely but for the drive ahead we forfeited this for some extra sleep.

After cancelling last year because of ill health, this was our 2nd attempt at getting married at mill forge, we arrived on Thursday, was married on Saturday and left on Sunday, we had 27 guests. Myself and Patricia planned our day in the build up and hoped it would be a 10/10 day, to us on reflection it was a 20/10 day. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left mill forge staff made our day memorable, which as your wedding day is what you hope for, we will remember this day for the rest of our lives. The staff are like one big family and seem to take a lot of pride in what they doing, too many to mention, but Graham, Debbie, Jamie, Ian Pauline and our favourite Leah, who always seemed to spend extra time explaining and chatting when you asked her a question. Onto the food, breakfast was plentiful, full English or just ask for what you want, restaurant food was great, our wedding meal was roast chicken/ beef dinners, the food was piping hot and plentiful and amazing, 2 vegans and 1 vegetarian were catered for, with evening disco included as the total guests included was over 30. Our day was made even more special by 2 other wedding parties that day, Ricky and Julie and Andy and Debra who were great to meet and chat to. To sum up, mill forge and staff made our wedding day soooooo special and will remember for a lifetime, isn’t that how it’s meant to be? Well done mill forge and thank you soooooo much.
