While traveling home from Wisconsin to North Carolina, on a Saturday, my daughter and I made the mistake of not advance booking a room. We were just basing our stay on how tired we were on the drive. By the time we found this location it was one of the very few that had double queen beds available. Check in was very easy with a very pleasant front desk clerk. We got to our room and I did my usual cleanliness check of the bathroom, counters, and beds. After my daughter pulled her comforter and top sheet back she noticed multiple stains and crumbs on her bed sheet. I went out to talk to the front desk clerk, who I convinced to come back to the room and see for herself what we found. After she confirmed that it didn’t look like the sheets had been changed, we were offered another room on the second floor. This was not a problem for us as we can climb the stairs, but be forewarned this hotel has no elevator. Inspection of the second room showed it was much cleaner and we were more comfortable staying in this room, although the sheets were old, they appeared to be clean. I definitely would only stay here as an overnight, as needed, accommodation and will not be staying here again. In the morning we got up and left without sampling breakfast so we cannot comment on the quality or quantity of the breakfast items offered. This location is definitely an older hotel in need of some updating as all the carpets are heavily stained and worn and the desk and countertop cabinetry in the rooms are starting to fall apart.
