Concerning our stay this past Saturday. We were coming in for all of the Granville Holiday festivities that I read about on-line. When we arrived at 12:30 pm, there were no parking spots open anywhere and we checked all three lots. There wasn’t anywhere to park on the street either. We pulled into the Inn and while my husband stayed in the car, I went in to see if we could check-in. I spoke to someone manning the restaurant check-in about parking, and she told me that employees were also parking in the lots on that day. When I spoke to Ashley, she told me that lots of people came to dine and the lot should clear out by 9 pm! When I inquired what we were supposed to do until then, she said that we should drive around and look for a spot on the street. She then suggested, and I still cannot believe this, that we park at Cherry Lodge and take the shuttle to the Inn! We were overnight guests at the Lodge paying over $300 for our stay—much more than someone coming to dine at lunchtime! All I kept hearing was “we’re very busy; there’s festivities going on.” Yes, I know that—that was the whole reason for our visit. At the very least, the Inn, knowing that parking would be an issue at this time, should have reserved enough spaces for overnight guests. I’m sure that not all of the diners moved their cars afterwards—they ate and then went to the festivities. And to have one of the staff suggest parking 7 miles away and taking a shuttle to the place where I am an overnight, paying guest is insulting and totally unacceptable. We decided to check out the lots again and luckily found one spot now open in the far lot. Had we not, I don’t know what we would have done. We went to our room, and, once again, it was not the room that is pictured on their web site for the European King Bed with the large bathroom. This bathroom was slightly bigger than the room we had in September, but it was not what we were expecting as we stayed in that photo room in the past. Plus the bathroom was ice cold. You could feel the cold seeping in from around the window and there wasn’t any heating vent in the bathroom. After taking a quick walk, we decided to return to the Inn for lunch. When I inquired at the podium, I was rudely told that there was no seating unless we had a reservation. I get it that you were busy—that’s no reason to be rude. I asked if the bar was reservation only and found out it was not. We placed our order at the bar. The salad dressing I received tasted off, so I asked the bartender if I could have something else. Approximately 15 minutes later he finally came back and asked what dressing I wanted. I understand he was busy as he was the only bartender, but why was that? The Inn knows how busy it’s going to be, and they have one guy manning the bar? No butter served with biscuit, small glass of water that he didn’t refill since he was swamped. My husband was almost done with his meal when I finally received some salad dressing.
