The 'cool' dark grey external paintwork and the suited and tied greeter indicated that this might not be my sort of "pub" - so take my comments below with a pinch of salt. The dining area was almost empty (except for a largish - and very quiet - family party) but, because every surface was hard, including stone table tops, the acoustics were poor and made conversation difficult. The service was prompt - but leaning across one diner to put a plate in front of another is not as professional as one might hope. The food was variable, several of us ordered with enthusiasm liver and bacon - a dish which has sadly disappeared from most menus. The liver was fine, the bacon minimal and difficult to discern and the bubble and squeak was of a design different to what one might expect. A bit of a disappointment. My wife, who had had a large breakfast elsewhere, wanted only a starter and was disappointed that her request to increase the two tiny fishcakes to three was beyond the capacity the kitchen. Not an "Inn" we will be rushing back to.

Very disappointed. Road very noisy, room not cleaned or made up daily. Toilet in the room, no door. We’re not informed that the inn closes at 10pm or how to get in after 10pm - we tried all the doors which were locked. Fortunately there was an unlocked windows which we climbed in. They did credit us 1 nights accommodation, but I do feel it necessary to let others know.

I had to cancel on the day of travel , whilst I accept there are some costs I do not think it fair to. Garage me the full room rate of £126 when I did not even stay . Also the my complaint was dealt with appallingly . Very poor show from this accommodation provider , there are no terms on conditions prominent about inability to refund .

The Goudhurst Inn is a great place to stay, the restaurant is very good and serves up excellent food, especially the Sunday roasts. Our stay included breakfast, we had the full English and vegetarian options and both were very good indeed. The rooms are very nice, beds comfortable and a decent sized tv with some Sky channels available. Staff at the Inn were very good and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was as good as possible.

My husband and I spent two nights at this lovely place. Our room was very comfortable, warm and spacious. We arrived on a Sunday so I had already booked us in to the restaurant for our afternoon meal. The roast was delicious, my husband had the roast pork and I had the vegetarian roast. There is a good choice for breakfast and once again it was very good. The staff were all friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome.

This was the most perfect overnight stay. Wonderful, friendly and hospitable staff, impeccably clean room with very high quality bedding and the breakfast was perfection. The suit I stayed in was the hush Heath Suit and I cannot recommend it enough. I am recommending this to everyone I know!

We usually stay at The Woolpack in Tenterden but on this occasion they were fully booked, so thought the Goudhurst would be of the same standard. Unfortunately this was not the case. The seating area around the bar consisted of ripped chairs with stuffing come out. My room appeared spotless on first glance, however on closer inspection, there were hairs both in the bath and the sink, as well as dirty marks under the toilet lid. The rooms can get quite hot, although by opening the windows, the noise of the traffic was so loud. I had to sleep with the fan on and the windows closed, it was a really bad nights sleep. We ate in the restaurant which was okay, although some items were unavailable and the fish & chips I ordered did not taste right, I couldn't eat it, so I literally paid £17 for chips. I honestly think this hotel could be so much better, having stayed at their other hotels, this one was really disappointing. The only positive parts to our stay came in the form of staff members Beth & Erin - they are a really credit to the brand. Would I recommend this hotel? No Would I stay here again? Sadly no This stay for 2 rooms and 3 meals has cost us an absolute fortune, and the experience was bad. Beth & Erin - they are a really credit to the brand. Would I recommend this hotel? If I could leave zero stars I would. The Goudhurst inn left me in danger of losing my life. Yes, It sounds ridiculously dramatic but it is the truth. On the 11th December East Sussex and Kent was covered in very deep snow in a very short amount of time. I was travelling from London to my home in St Leonards on Sea and my SatNav diverted me off the A21 and in to Horsemonden. Unfortunately my car couldn't make it any further and I had to abandon it at the bottom of a hill in a very rural part of Kent. An area I really don't know. Realising that this could be me for the night, I decided to go on to *********** and find somewhere to stay. The Goudhurst Inn was selected having just one room left and so I booked it quickly noting that it was 3.5 miles away and taking the punt that I would be able to walk that far. My SatNav said it was possible in 1 1/2 hours. I received an email confirming my booking and explaining that they were looking forward to welcoming me and if I wanted to book a table for dinner. Immediately visions of warmth, wine and comfort engulfed me and I started my trek. Obviously in those conditions, the walk was going to take much longer. After a good 50 mins I was picked up by an SUV driver doing good deeds for people stranded and rescuing them. They gave me a lift the rest of the way to the Inn. (Very Kind). The windows were very steamed up so no visibility for me to see where we were going, I was just looking forward to thawing out. I eventually arrived feeling freezing and exhausted and hugely relieved. Only to be told in a rude, cold manner by Olly that he doesn't have a booking in my name and on looking at my confirmation, he had given my room away to another family. He then told me I had to leave because he and his staff had to get home. The Inn was warm and they were all comfortable and could clearly see my distress. But nonetheless they turfed me out in to the Ice and snow not knowing where I was or what to do next. Its so rural that I started to panic. I cried whilst trying to get my bearings looking for the direction that my car was in. By this time I had no phone (the torch had used all the batteries) and I was terrified. This post could have been a really positive post. Even if they had given my room away to another family in need, I would have been fine with that, if they had just done the human thing and allowed me in to the Bar to get warm, rest and recoup. If it had been my business and I was the manager, I would have made sure that my guests were at the very least safe from a very scary night. I would have stoked the fire and got blankets for people to use and written the night off as an exercise in human kindness. Olly was only interested in getting me out of the premises and getting home himself. That's not hospitality, that is abuse. Luckily, another very caring couple drove by me whilst trying to find my way back to my car (3.5 miles away) and could see I was in distress. They picked me up and took me to
