The cliff hotel is a well kept hotel with great reception areas and lovely staff. The food is of a good quality and worth a visit; although one of our party had the seabass and the piece of fish measures 7cm by 3cm so for around £21 we felt we were being ripped off for a plate of samphire. However the beef brisket was nice and with plenty on the plate. The rooms we had were not particularly great, they are of a reasonable standard but the to didn’t work in two of the rooms (reported) and the shower in our room would not let you turn it to full because of water hammer in the pipes making it sound like there was some bed activity going on. In addition, and the nail in the coffin, the room was ice cold all night, no heating on, and even wrapped up in two quilts we were colder than I was on an expedition to base 133 in the Ross sea reach - Antarctica. Then comes the price £185 for one night! I’ve paid for cheaper nicer hotels on the strand in London. Whilst the food was good and the downstairs atmosphere was good and the staff are super lovely none of that outweighs the hefty price tag for Mediocre room. Sorry cliff hotel; but over priced for a cold average room with a shower that doesn’t work.
