Hotel with a lot of upside improvement to 5 star. I've always wondered what an Italian Marriott Hotel would look like in Miami Beach. This hotel wants to be a W. The hotel rooms are dated. But so are many Ritz Carltons. However, the reason for so many critics you need to update your USB or USA to Euro electric plugs. I've traveled 20 years as a Trip Advisor, so my big tip for u guys, use the flat-screen TV usb plug. Make sure TV is on or on Ambient mode. You guys can thank me. Awesome beach and pool amenities, I love it. Awesome brunch. Staff is very courteous and polite. The guy in parking lot is not cool. He seems to be annoyed by his customers parking. I hope GM reads this and tells the guy to change his demeanor. Hotel Report Card Location: 10/10 Beach, Restaurants, Taormina Bed Comfort: Stiff, but decent sleep, 7/10 Quietness: These are not sound proof rooms. I can hear people talking in the halls, doors slamming, next room guy talking at 10pm. 4/10 Decor 5/10 Old fashion Italian decor. Food: 10/10 breakfast buffet is the fabulous. We like the omlete chef, nice guy, loves his job! Value: 7/10 I think bathroom amenities are needed. Never seen $300+ rooms not come with kits.

This property has amazing views; the location is within walking distance to the main village; there is wonderful full breakfast; parking on site and friendly staff. This property is an older vintage hotel with a family history. But like everything in Taormina, there are stairs to navigate. (An elevator is currently under construction.) We had an amazing room (#24) with a full terrace overlooking the gorgeous gardens and stunning sea. The room and the whole property is full of vintage and classic furniture, art and ceramics. As in any older building the walls are thin; some other guests could be more considerate. You can walk to the main area of Taormina in just a few minutes - but again, the whole town is nothing but stairs! We left the car in the hotel parking lot for our whole 3 day visit. We walked everywhere including to restaurants. For a tour of Mt. Etna the company picks us up at the road. Just make sure the town gondola is 'in season' if you want to go down to the beach without driving - it was still closed for the winter in the first week of April. We found the staff very helpful and friendly - especially Sebastiano who handles the extensive breakfast offerings with covid protocols. There are both hot and cold offerings. It is all very good.

The hotel is really great. The hotel is located on the Taormina Mountain. When I went there, I happened to encounter the Chinese restaurant 3. I was very fortunate. It took only 7.8 minutes to walk from the Red Restaurant. The breakfast was good. It was very close to the viewing platform. It only takes 4 minutes

Sadly, excluding a wonderful lady behind reception & a lovely cleaner, this hotel at best is a 2 star hotel. Our experience has just been horrific, and I feel it only fair to share our true honest happenings. We arrived and were upgraded to a larger room. Greatly appreciated. We asked for directions to the pool, which may I point out is NOT part of the hotel, it’s a lido on the beach only reachable by a 15/20 minute shuttle bus. So the advertising of this hotel having a pool onsite is very far from the truth. I filtered swimming pool & free cancellation & there is NO swimming pool. So please do not expect one. The hotel room was warn out & needed some tlc. The curtain rail fell and landed on my head on the first afternoon, and was left on the floor for our entire stay. No attempt to fix it for us. The shower cubicle doors would not open or close easily. In fact I’d shower with them open and put towels all over the floor so I didn’t create a huge mess. Sadly on our third day in the hotel, my partner showered & the cubicle door shattered all over him. Glass absolutely everywhere. In his feet on his legs and he was bleeding too. He has scratches left on his legs and glass was still in his feet. The cleaner in shock rushed in, and a gave my partner flip flops as you could barely see any floor without shattered glass. Between the cleaner and a staff member, they cleaned the mess as if it had never happened. And we were expected to continue our day. A lady behind reception offered us a small room which we declined, as worryingly it felt also in need of some help. We continued our stay, as Taormina is full right now and left the hotel today at 12pm. Our departure was nothing short of horrifying, we arrived at reception greeted by the grandson of the owner rudely & aggressively pointing at us, surrounding us by three further Italian men, we have been told are police to ensure we pay for our damages. We did immediately as felt somewhat threatened & forced, and it wasn’t until the police heard the whole story, that they agreed this was unacceptable behaviour from the hotel & an extremely aggressive way to treat two individuals. They apologised repeatedly but we had paid the hotel & were left without any choice. The police did all they could and eventually got us a 50% refund in the damages cost. Sadly it hasn’t actually been refunded.

I’ve got to say we were delightfully surprised by this hotel. We booked this place as it was nearby to where we booked our wedding. Travelling with my now husband and our nearly 2 year old. From the minute of walking through the doors we saw how truly nice and special this place was. We just booked a standard room, we were located on the ground floor and the room was a lot bigger than we expected. It was nice and peaceful even being so close to reception in room 112. It was clean, comfortable, well air conditioned. Was just what we needed. We had breakfast included in our price which was continental but had scrambled eggs, bacon, range of cheeses and meats including ricotta. Cereals, pasties and cakes all of the above was of a great standard. You could eat inside or out. The staff in the dining room are even better, gianluca, Gianfrano the waiters and the manager fabrizio. And a lovely lady with short dark hair was amazing with our son, They really made us feel welcome and special, they couldn’t do enough for us. So professional and friendly. We also spent an evening in the restaurant which the food was fantastic. Again great service here too! The beautiful garden and surroundings of the hotel are so picturesque. Nice big pool area including a kids pool. We also spent some time down by the beach bar which was relaxing and I have to mention how lovely the ladies down at the reception area of the beach/shop. Giulia and Maria, so lovely, friendly and helpful. The lobby bar was brilliant Adriano made us feel right at home, so friendly, welcoming and looked after our son if we needed milk warming up, no matter what time of day. The shuttle service from this hotel is fantastic, you pre book your shuttle up and down from Taormina. It’s free too! We loved Salvatore! He made us smile, he was lovely, helpful and genuine. We miss him already!! I have to say, the staff here are a real main reason we would want to come stay again. We live in Sheffield in England but my new husband is originally from Catania, we normally would stay with family but after this trip I know we will be back. Don’t waste any more money staying anywhere else, this hotel offers everything you want and need. Thank you for having us Hotel Caparena! See you again one day I’m sure! It was very nice and the decoration and Furniture was very antique and nice. The rooms were nice and had clean sheets and Two TV’s. The bathroom as well was very clean and nice although there was no toothbrush holder. Besides the rooms the Hotel had amazing breakfast service and very clean nice courtyards and a Poll and Scuba diving, They also have a Spa and restaurant. An Overall amazing Hotel, The only downside was the location being far from the City but with horrible Traffic inside the city it was nice to be a little bit away from the city center.

We needed a hotel room close to Catania’s airport because we had an early morning flight. I was reluctant to book at this hotel because it got horrible reviews. I took a chance and we were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is reasonably priced, the rooms are clean and it’s really close to the airport! They have free shuttle service to and from the airport. We needed a 5am shuttle and they were right on time! We were scared to eat there after all the negative reviews, but the food and wine was great! They had a friendly staff and provided great personal service! We both had delicious pasta dishes and actually all the food looked good! The only negative was the look of the hotel outside. They clearly need to fix up the property on the outside, but I’d prefer a clean room and a good dinner! Don’t listen to all the bad reviews, this hotel is perfect for a one night stay before or after a flight!
