The hotel is in a good location. You can go shopping when you go out. It is quite lively. It is also close to the attractions, and it takes 10 minutes to walk. The sanitation is very clean. As soon as you enter the door, you feel that everything is clean. The room is of moderate size. The bathroom is quite simple. There is no kettle. If you want to drink water, you have to go to the water dispenser in the lobby or buy it yourself. The surrounding area is very quiet at night. The window of the room you live in is not across the street, so it will not be noisy. The whole city of Ghent does not feel that noisy, but very comfortable. The breakfast is simple but enough. When you go out to play, you can store your luggage in a special luggage storage cabinet. The fee is based on the size of the luggage and the storage time. I didn't choose carefully, and ended up storing an extra-large cabinet for my small suitcase. . I feel sorry for the money. I am very satisfied with the hotel as a whole. It is very suitable for me to stay when I travel to Ghent without much money!
In a city brimming with history at every corner, the NH Collection Gent, formerly known as NH Gent Belfort, balances Ghent’s past with a healthy dose of refined Belgian modernity. Firmly in Ghent’s city center, the hotel stands next to the Belfry, a bell tower dating to the 14th century, and an enduring symbol of Ghent’s independence. Within a few city blocks, other city sites are a short walk away including Stadhuis (the Town Hall), Gravensteen, a castle from the Middle Ages, Korenmarkt and Graslei Harbor. The hotel is also located in close proximity to performing arts venues, Saint Bavo’s Cathedral, the Baroque Saint Nicholas Church and Huis van Alijn. For outings further afield, travelers can take the Ghent tramway network from the nearby Gent Korenmarkt station. The hotel intertwines classic and contemporary décor in 174 welcoming rooms. Offerings include standard, standard new-style, superior and Suite rooms with views. Waffles and pancakes are the highlight of the hotel’s bountiful breakfast buffet. Take in lunch or dinner at the Van Artevelde restaurant and dine on international specialties. Enjoy a diverse selection of Belgian beers and cocktails at the lobby bar. Guests can also book one of 10 rooms for meetings, events or wedding receptions for up to 400 attendees.

The location is really great for a city trip and the rooms are spacious with nice views. However, it seems like they weren’t maintained or restored for years. Furniture and carpets look old, dirty (stained) and frankly disgusting. From what we understand the rooms in the executive area are in better shape but we were on the third floor and everything looked dirty and old. During breakfast we noted that most dishes weren’t properly cleaned and still had stains from other meals. The buffet had nice pastries but everything else wasn’t enjoyable (juices and eggs were not fresh etc.). Considering that breakfast wasn’t included in the room and quite costly we were very disappointed by the low quality of the food. The hotel seems to be focusing on business travelers where companies pay in advance for big groups, so the small bar was very crowded before dinner time. On the positive side, the hotel seemed quiet for being so central and there wasn’t much noise from other rooms either.
Enjoy the historical city centre of Ghent and relax at our hotel. The Novotel Gent Centrum is centrally located, making it ideal for both business and leisure. After a busy day it is time to unwind in the Novotel and grab a drink on the terrace, take a dip in the pool or relax in the sauna. An extensive breakfast buffet is offered daily and lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in the hotel restaurant. All rooms are spacious and equipped with a minibar, safe, work desk, temperature control and free WiFi.

The location is very good, right in the city center. The hotel is a bit old but well maintained. The staff are very welcoming. Breakfast a la carte is 24 euros, which is not bad.

Overall is great. But the entrance is a little away from the main road if you are with your big luggage that could be tough due the the steps and rough paving. Another small issue is the toilet, there is no ventilation in the toilet so the odour could trapped inside for a while.

The location is fantastic, right on the water and you can walk out the door to explore Ghent. The hotel itself is fine, not the most modern/ nicest Marriott I have ever stayed at and certainly not the worst. Parts definitely seem dated. There is a parking garage under the hotel- and you can park there for a nightly fee. The service was not good. When I checked in there was absolutely no recognition of my Ambassador Elite status and no benefits of that status were explained to me. I asked about a suite upgrade, and the girl that was checking me in was fine but another girl (long straight dark brown hair) yelled over from the other side of the counter in a very rude way saying she took care of it already (cutting off the other associate). Our room was not a suite- so she didn't take care of it. Then I asked about a late check out and she yelled over again saying she put it in the system. When I asked if our keys would continue to work she looked at me like I was an ***** and said she took care of it. Which she didn't- we had to get our cards re-keyed the next morning, and they had no note in the system that we previously asked for a late checkout. It felt completely unprofessional- if the other associate wanted to answer my questions or manage my check in process, she could have easily done it by walking over and having a professional and pleasant conversation with me not by yelling over and cutting off the person who was helping me. It felt like she was annoyed that I was asking about the perks that come with the my Marriott status, not welcoming of a new guest to the hotel. Neither the girl who claimed to have taken care of everything, or the girl checking us in explained anything about perks, and I felt so frustrated (about the rude interaction) when they handed me my keys that I didn't even ask. I walked up to the desk after and explained the situation to a male associate standing there who could not have been more kind, apologetic and welcoming. There is no lounge, so he gave us two drink coupons, and said a buffet breakfast at the restaurant was included instead. They also mentioned that the mini fridge was included, but it only had like 3 small bottles total in it (one water, one soda and one beer) so it was not a very big perk. Overall, Ghent was beautiful and the hotel is in a great location. I would stay here again with a very low bar set for service from the front desk.

The room was fine. We needed extra bedding and 2 nice staff came immediately and made the extra bed for us. However! We arrived with a reservation confirmation of 2 adults 1 child. Their confirmation had 2 people therefore the room they had was too small. They did have another room for 3 they said we could have but it would be 30 euros extra. At the time we simply agreed and paid as there was a big queue behind us and the amount was small. Buttons seemed like a con to extract more money from us, it wasn't our mistake as we had confirmation for 3 people at the designated price. It's a shame as I really liked Ghent and will certainly return but there are other hotels to choose from.

From the beginning of the cancellation of the reservation to the actual check-in, the communication of the agent was very poor, the experience was average, and it was not as good as it was said. Booked the supreme room, the room type bed was still facing the door, too lazy to change. The so-called window, behind the bed, almost can't feel the window. The so-called good should be said that the design, restaurant and supporting facilities of the hotel are quite complete.

Apartment we booked reminded me of my staying in Japan… Everything has a place and everything in its place. What’s required for 4 persons to sleep and bath are just machined to fit in and anything extra is available on payment… all are neat and clean. But, what stands out in this hotel is the hospitality of the staff… Almost all Staff are trained and tuned to address the customers in a professional way. Here I found a little extra. Attitude, service with smile. Never get irritated even for the silly queries or so. To name a few, Tessa, Innike, Xxxx, Yyyy were all so responsive and supportive to ensure you’re comfortable. So are the kitchen staff- Thai Lady, Philippines Chef and everyone. They not only serve but ensure that those who are still around at closing time, pick up their wants and Shut down. At the bar counter, forget the name, I asked for coffee and she came middle of her lunch and gave Any place or organization gets its name and pride by the staff on the ground and here they are. Keep it up Team. Some areas that could be improved upon. 1. Trash can be kept outside the rooms and house keeping staff can pick it up instead of guests bringing it down as If they litter all the way, it’d be a big mess. 2. For coffee/ tea making, since no house keeping comes around, there has to be a system where guests can pick up Tea, Coffee, Sugar and milk as required with a sense of ownership 3. Breakfast menu and dinner menu could be subtly changed to set the surprise expectations. 4. In the apartment, instructions to operate the Induction stove could help guests to be self starters. 5. Travel help- There could be stickers or posters showing your current location, how to get to important attractions / Places, Bus / train timings etc., Thank you team. Look forward to coming back.

The positives to start with: modern and new hotel. Rooms are large and include a kitchen with oven and everything needed to eat. Now the negatives: as pointed out in many other reviews, the managers in duty turn out to be quite rude in the way they are addressing customers feedback and requests. I had an example of that tonight when I learned that the housekeeping in the room is not done on a daily basis unless you are asking for it. She argued with me that everyone knows that Marriott practice and knows that, as a client, you have to ask for it. How would you know as this is not written anywhere and not communicated when you check in ?... So be aware of that if you intend to stay at this hotel. You would expect that a chain like Marriott would treat their clients with professionalism and with transparency with regards to the description of the services included in the price. This is not the case visibly. Also, as mentioned often by other clients, the hotel is charging 19€ daily for the outdoor parking while the hotel is situated in an industrial zone far from downtown…first time I see that for a mid-range hotel located outside the city center. All in all, when you add up all of this, there is much better value elsewhere. I had nice experience at the Van der Valk hotels in Germany, I would recommend you pick up the one in this area and stay away from the Residence Inn.

Outstanding
GGuest UserHuge bath tub close walk (even with tons of luggage) from the train. Wonderful hybrid of Bed and Breakfast and airbnb. Glenn was a wonderful host with clear instructions for arrival and entry. From an inconspicuous front entry to a wide open air space out the back…… perfect choice.
JJiuaiqulvxingThe location is very good, the station is 350 meters right, about 2.2 kilometers away from the attraction, Yan Road slowly walks to the attraction, feels the local street view is very good, about 450 from the hotel there is a ”Dunhuang supermarket” Chinese city, you can buy a lot of Asian food, instant noodles are a lot of European prices are very cheap, Can satisfy the Asian taste, the hotel is clean, quiet, and very comfortable to live. Ghent attractions are more beautiful than Brussels, and the security is much safer. Walking on the street makes people really feel the leisurely atmosphere of Europe (not comfortable at all in Paris)
The location and breakfast buffet make this hotel ideal for visiting Ghent. It's a short walk from the train station and. situated near some nice restaurants. You can easily walk to all the sights of Ghent or take the tram in front of the hotel. The bed is very comfortable. The room is large and bright. Everything is super clean. If you stay here, be sure to stop by the Brasserie de Moraal. It's just up the street. Lovely place for dinner. Good food. Reasonable prices. Cordial staff.
IIlse2 times in this hotel . All is just perfect ! And what we always see is the rest and silence , even a full breakfast room is still quiet ! Very nice that rest in this beautiful hotel .
I stayed for a night as part of a business trip, primarily being attracted to the hot l because of the indoor swimming pool. The hotel was lovely, in a really nice area and had a really welcoming, relaxed feel. Check in was good and the receptionist really helpful, there was a small bar and we sat in the terrace with our drinks which was really pleasant. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great we made Bacon sandwiches which were really nice. I also used the pool for an early morning swim. The pool is small, but you can reserve it for your private use which is great. There is also a sauna. Overall this is a fantastic, privately owned, very reasonably priced boutique hotel with a lovely feel. I would recommend to anyone visiting Ghent and would love to stay again.
GGuest UserMy recent four-day stay at the hotel in Gent, Belgium, housed in a charming 19th-century former monastery, was unfortunately marred by several significant issues. Upon arrival, the historic charm of the building was evident and quite captivating. However, the allure quickly dissipated as the stay progressed. Firstly, a standard room lacked en-suite toilets and shower compartments. While this detail is mentioned on the booking site, it is buried in the fine print, a detail easily missed by prospective guests. This is not an amenity gap one would expect from an establishment that charges €135 per night for a standard single-occupation room. Moreover, the hotel failed to provide hot water for two consecutive nights, despite repeated complaints. This fundamental necessity is non-negotiable for any guest, and the hotel’s inability to address the issue promptly was highly disappointing. The lighting situation in several rooms was another major letdown. There were no main lights, leaving rooms dimly lit. When reported, the receptionist unhelpfully and incorrectly stated that the lamps were merely for decoration. This lack of adequate lighting significantly impacted the comfort and usability of the rooms. Adding to the discomfort were the creaking floorboards in the corridors, which disturbed even not-so-light sleepers at midnight. The noise level was unacceptable and further disrupted what was supposed to be a restful stay. While the hotel's historic setting is undeniably beautiful, the experience was marred by these significant issues. For an established hotel, the expectations are high, and basic amenities like hot water, proper lighting, and sound insulation should be a given. Overall, my stay was disappointing, and these issues reflect poorly on the hotel's standards. Future guests should be aware of these potential inconveniences, especially given that some are not adequately disclosed upfront.
GGuest UserParking near the hotel is very cheap. In the garage of the station costs EUR 22,- per 24/u! Prefer to put the car outside the center in a garage or along the road where it is free. Location in front of the station is fine. There you can take tram number 1 to the centre (7 stops), or walk in half an hour, which is great to do. We had three rooms reserved, two 2pk and a 4-press family room and asked if they could all be located together. One 2 pcs was found in the building above the reception, that is, in the main building, that was really a beautiful renovated room, and the other two were found in a neighbouring building, for which you had to go out. The rooms were not special in that other building. The size of the family room was great, but was a bleeding glory. The shafts were hanging stop contacts with this and there a liquor of paint over it. The cordon rail comes down if you want to open the cordon. When we moved a bed and a box, it was found to be still in the box, and at the entrance it was cold, only one of the boxes seemed to do it, so to the reception, where we did not have any excuses, but a loose box. Later we found another copy in a box, so it was apparently a publicized. The ”cafe and tea facilities” mentioned are a water cooker and a few tea bags and liquefied coffee, which we had used, but which, unfortunately, were no longer replaced in the days afterwards, so take your own ”Facilities”. The 2pk bathroom in the old building was a waste-air, but it was fortunately disappeared the next day. The family members who had a ”beautiful” room in the main building did not have the first night to close their eyes, Because the fire alarm was disturbed and the whole night was delayed every minute. No excuses were received again at the reception, but another room was in the old building. We did not use breakfast, because EUR 15, - pp/pn is not stored. Two doors away is a supermarket with every day fresh breads and all kinds of investments you can wish. In short, we are less charmed by the hotel.
IIona RVery tired rooms and way overpriced. We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast rate well in advance. When we got there we were informed that because dinner was not available at weekends ( not mentioned at all when we booked ) they would have to cancel our reservation and offer us the walk in rate for bed and breakfast, which wasn't much less that we had paid to include dinner. They suggested we eat at a very expensive hotel which was nearest to them. The receptionist shrugged and said take it or leave it. We took it because it was late and dark and we didn't fancy driving around looking for somewhere else. One of the bedside lights was broken, the previous heater had come off the wall and they had hot wired a normal one into the wall socket. Every now and then it gave out green sparks! There were no plugs in either the bath or the wash hand basin and one of the sheets had a big rip in it. Breakfast was pretty nondescript and the room had a large sign saying if you took any items out of the room they considered it theft. We have stayed in other Campaniles in the past which were fine but never again.
