The front desk and restaurant staff were very professional and polite, especially the female employee who helped us check in. She carefully explained the hotel facilities and local tours, and was very attentive and worthy of praise.

Was expecting great things from the hotel having been recommended it from a leading holiday firm Sadly the reality was really disappointing. The reception area is nice - the female receptionist who greeted me was functional rather than pleasant and certainly gave the impression that she didn’t want to be there The room was OK but certainly by no means superior - very limited choice on the TV, an extremely noisy air conditioning unit that didn’t work all the time making for an uncomfortable nights sleep and some of the plugs didn’t work. There was a fridge in the room but the water in it isn’t free and extortionately priced. The bed average. The phone in the room going off sporadically was even more frustating Breakfast was guess what to have as service staff were invisible - the buffet had seen better days and the coffee was grim with watered down orange juice. When you could find a server and ordered an omelette it was good - about the only thing about the hotel that was apart from the Sea View - shame about the badly appointed balcony We made the mistake of booking half board - big mistake - served buffet style and hideous. Forget about a drink with dinner - an distinctly average and over priced wine served by a staff member who didn’t seem that keen about her job Wish I could be more positive about my staff but having been to Madeira countless times this is by far the worst hotel I have stayed in on the island - as another reviewer said the Enotel Lido down the road is far nicer and a much better experience. Tried to express what we thought to the Manager - but surprise surprise they don’t speak to guests - says it all really !

First time staying here First the positives - the reception area is nice. The omelette’s are made to order and the highlight of a dull breakfast buffet Now the negatives - where to begin - reception staff with an attitude I could do without. The room - not 4 star by any stretch of the imagination - air conditioning that worked when it felt like it. Bed was just OK - and the most astonishing part they actually charge you for the bottled water in the fridge which in this day and age is quite frankly outrageous. I was staying half board - the breakfast buffet was pretty grim, the evening buffet horrendous and didn’t even include a drink and served by staff who quite clearly don’t want to be there. The bar area is soul-less and way overpriced drinks Quite frankly one to avoid - there are hotels just down the road that are nicer, that have friendly staff and that actually make you feel like a valued visitor

Overall the hotel is excellent, our room was large, light, airy and had a large balcony facing the sea. The mattresses are to die for and certainly give a good night’s sleep. The towels are changed on request, every day if you wish, and the bed linen every three days. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and on the one occasion that we had a problem with the wash basin not emptying properly it was attended to in 15 minutes. The reason I have only given a rating of 4/5 is the restaurant. The buffet breakfast is good with excellent options of English and continental food both hot and cold. However the evening buffet leaves a lot to be desired. There are plenty of options but the quality is very poor and on one evening was inedible. A young woman who is a waitress in the evening appears to have no interest in her work. We nicknamed her “miserable Myrtle”, she doesn’t look at you or acknowledge you when you speak to her, and we think her face would crack if she smiled. She has one working speed and that is very slow. However we would definitely come back again.

We have been going to this hotel since 2019 so it must be doing something right. Dalia, who we reserve with every time, is meticulous and keeps us notified and informed every step of the way. Graca, Nadia and Bruno on reception are excellent and know the answer to everything. Ademar, Nelio, Marta, Magda and Sao make every visit to the bar or restaurant a pleasure and everyone else that you don't see as much of combine to make each stay perfect. The location and views are stunning and the value for money is exceptional. Having read some other reviews by guests this year i have to agree that there are pigeons all over Madeira and that includes around the hotel but they are quite friendly and if you have a phobia it may not be the right island for you. The hotel exterior is not in a state of disrepair and the missing plaster on the front of the building is not a part of the Regency Cliff but belongs to the apartments above.

A very good small hotel which suited our requirements perfectly.Staff very welcoming and mostly friendly. The breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice. We had a wonderful balcony overlooking the sea. Bathrooms are slightly dated as the shower is over the bath which could cause some problems for more senior guests. Cleanliness was excellent and they do provide a free shuttle into Funchal centre. We had a great time and many thanks to the hotel staff.

Lovely hotel nice location staff lovely and helpful. Courtesy bus to town. Room in had was a beautiful view of sea, room clean tidy bed comfortable, shower toilet clean, complimentary fruit and water. Tea coffee in room. Buffet breakfast and dinner in restaurant was ok. Gym needs some new equipment and some equipment was dirty. The sauna needs to be replaced this was very dirty. Inside pool was nice.
