We were caught unaware of some event which sold out the Castlegar/Nelson area so had to look further afield for a reasonably priced room. The grounds of the Villagers Inn will not instill a sense of confidence or comfort, and the lobby is not much of an improvement. Our check-in was handled quickly by a very pleasant lady who provided us additional information about the hotel. Our room was not plush but most importantly, it was clean and secure. The laminated floors were a pleasant change from well-worn carpets usually found in budget hotels. It had a refrigerator and microwave, solid Wifi, and a comfortable bed. This hotel seems to have a number of long-term residents who you may encounter in the lobby or outside. Unfailingly, they were polite and friendly. We had a lot of trepidation about this hotel but for the most part, it was fine and well within our budget.
