The Hotel Stadt Freiburg is a lovely, modern property, well-designed and visually appealing. So it's a shame that the quality of the staff seems not to match the quality of the property. At check-in, there was nary a welcome nor smile to be had, and we were given the distinct impression that our presence was an imposition on the very unfriendly person checking us in. ”Curt” would be a polite way to describe the experience, but ”downright rude” would be more accurate. Rooms are clean and well-appointed, but none of us slept well on the extra-hard beds with a duvet that kept sliding off in the night because it's too small to tuck in. Perhaps a blessing in disguise, since the rooms are horribly overheated. This hotel ticks all the boxes for its four-star rating, but not a jot or tittle more than that. The hotel also claims to be pet-friendly, but beware if you bring Fido along. There's a hefty supplement. Your pet is allowed in the lobby restaurant, but if you bring it to breakfast, you are rudely banished like you were carrying the Coronavirus. If this were the only hotel in a 50-mile radius, I think I would choose to sleep in my car.

We stayed at this hotel for one night during our 5 days 4 nights trip to the Alsace areas. This was our first stop. The hotel located in a quiet area but within walking distance to the super market, many restaurants, bakeries, etc. However a car is needed to reach the city center. The room is simple but modern, clean, roomy with nice seating area and A/C. The complimentary breakfast was average but it is a nice bonus though. The staff was friendly and helpful. Because of the reasonable price, the complimentary breakfast and the services, I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

It's great for the price. Everything clean and very new. The breakfast wasn't that good. It's just outside in a new area by the freight station and the nearest tram stop is about 10 minutes away. But there are many new hotels in this area that are attractively priced.

Our booking through ********** wasn't received by the hotel but the hotel was very helpful and we received some separated rooms instead. The service was excellent and the hotel is very nice with a great atmosphere. I would definitely stay there again. The breakfast can be ordered with gluten-free options but you just have to ask for it. The rooms are clean with AC and a small kitchen for smaller meals. The area around the hotel is nice enough with restaurants and shopping basically right out the door. There are aom construction nearby but no bigger issues there. Parking was full so we had to find some in the streets nearby which was free.

Very nicely furnished rooms with enough deposit facilities. The sticks had USB-A ports installed. Also two good seating facilities in the room. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Only the huge picture of a woman in the bathroom first unusual, after a short habitual phase then also OK. The bathroom was also large, just as the shower. Very much space for cultural bag and co to deposit. We would definitely come back. Parking with € 19 per night may be a little expensive.

Its close to the station but couldnt hear trains or traffic so that was ok. So its a good location. But thats all there is. The hotel is dirty, small rooms and the cleaning people start cleaning early. So if you still sleeping you gonna wake up hearing the vacum cleaner....plus its way too expensive for what you get...i wouldnt stay there again

Chic, central hotel. Pleasantly designed. Good air conditioning, quiet and powerful. Windows are very soundproof. Very good breakfast, although a little overpriced at 25 euros per person. Staff are very attentive. Good bar, lovely courtyard.

Beautiful hotel with everything needed for a short trip. Coffee and tea were available free.
Unfortunately, the lady was unfriendly at the weekend and made it difficult for us to check in. We would prefer to cancel the accommodation immediately, which was not possible. All other staff were premature and helpful, and we have still enjoyed the stay.

Das Hotel macht einen sehr guten Eindruck, sehr freundliches Personal, exzellentes Frühstück, Wellness, Schwimmen und Fitness sind wie auch das Frühstück im Preis inbegriffen. Fazit bis hier hin: Ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Ganz anders das Restaurant. Leider hatte von den drei vorhandenen nur das Cross-over geöffnet. Ein Blick in die Karte zeigte Preise für Hauptgerichte zwischen Ende Zwanzig Euro bis 48 Euro, also eher teuer. Die Gerichte lasen sich gut, zumindest meines für 48 Euro war miserabel. Der Octopus war trocken-gegrillt und salzig, der Hummer zwar perfekt gegart, aber langweilig abgeschmeckt, der Couscous einfach nur gesalzen (und da könnte man sehr leicht tolle Sachen mit machen), es fehlte jede Säure und der Aijoli-Schaum schmeckte nach überhaupt nichts. Ein Jammer um die eingesetzten Produkte. Da das Hotel und nicht dies Restaurant hier im Fokus steht, gibt es nur einen Punkt Abzug. Dem Restaurant hätte ich 2 Punkte gegeben: Einen für den netten Ober und einen für den Wein.

We stayed four nights at the Central Hotel. It is centrally placed for visiting Freiburg but quiet. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff friendly. They attend rapidly to any request. The breakfast is particularly good and caters for all tastes.

It‘s a matter of opinion. Myself likes to conclude wrinkles are the result of a happy lifetime, but you might think otherwise. If you are into modern styles dont go there. This business is over 100 years of age/tradition and even though additions were build, rooms where updated it has that unique touch you could call charming. The rooms are quite spacious and offer all you really need. The service is pretty good and everyone is doing its best to make your stay comfortable. I have never been to a hotel where I had real electric roller shutters instead of more, or mostly less, „blackout curtains“. Another feature is the a/c cooling with groundwater instead of chemical components. pros: roller shutters spacious rooms free sauna free private parking sympathetic staff reasonable priced food for dinner at a hotel cosy outdoor dining bus station directly in front cons: public carpet has lots of stains elevator is outdated and dimly lit imho the biggest flaw/dealbreaker: The breakfast is below average (price-performance), bacon was wobbly and not crisp at all, butter wasnt cooled, even the famous black forest ham was mediocre at best. But hey…if one door is shut…there‘s a good bakery right across the street.

SStephanieThe room was perfect size for one person. It was very clear and bright, my room have the view to a park. The location is really close to the tram and there's a supermarket super close. The bed is comfortable. Since the bathroom didn't have windows, there's a bathroom exhaust fan, the problem is that is extremely noisy and took a lot of time to turn off after you turn the lights off

The hotel is located in a lovely spot in the woods, with walking/trails and birds chirping, outside Freiburg. There is a large terrace to sit on for a drink or a meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful to provide a relaxing experience. I really enjoyed the extensive breakfast buffett. If you are looking to explore the area, it is situated on the way to Alsace so you can go into Freiburg and France quite easily. If you want a hotel right in Freiburg, this isn't it. And the highway is a bit close by so there is some sound, but usually the birds chirping was louder.

GGuest UserLets start with the location which is excellent and minutes from the main square.Staff were at all times polite and helpful and the breakfast was plentiful and varied,Down side is the room which has no inbuilt air condition and they give a stand alone tower which you either keep on all night or switch off.Not what we could do as it was 28 degrees in the city at night..If you take a 3rd floor premier room they over look the outside bar area which on a Saturday night can stay open till after midnight which i can understand at the weekend but not through the week.Below our window was a floodlit tree and this shone into the room through very badly designed curtains.We had to ask maintenance to get a second curtain as ours had been removed and not replaced.Staff said curtains has been raised as ineffective many times but nothing has been done Bed wasnt all that comfortable either but on the whole a good room but would not return as better hotels with better facilities can probably be found for the same price elsewhere

KkinleyxUsually, we use Airbnb and avoid traditional hotels and this is the perfect example why. We had to book one day in advance on short notice and the price was roughly 150 euro excluding parking, breakfast or air conditioning. Parking cannot be reserved, but is first come, first serve. Apparently good for those who check in prior to 6pm, bad for us. The hotel could use some modernization, the style is quite old, outdated decoration and presentation. The staff at the reception was quite nice. We threw our stuff in the room and went out for dinner. We came back around 11pm and just wanted to sleep. Lucky us, the fan did not work properly but did horrible noises. And we found hairs on our bed. We complained the next morning during check out. By the way the two other guests checking out complained about different stuff as well. For us, no sorry from the staff, only a complaint that we did not complain immediately - yeah, at 11 pm and we were able to remove the hairs ourselves. Thanks, also for saying sorry. Overall, not worth the value and for sure they will never see us again.

The sweetest, friendliest, and quaintest hotel in Freiburg. It’s nestled in a residential community right on the bus route. Older and no frills hotel but clean, quiet, and well maintained. The staff is helpful and friendly. A special shout out to Niels Eggers. Niels had been an exchange student in Utah not far from my home. Niels treated me like an old friend. This was my second stay and I’ll stay here every time I visit.
