How bad can a place be? We booked for two nights and stayed for two minutes. When we booked we were advised that payment was on arrival but straight away after we booked, our credit card number was used to take full payment. No receipt was issued, we only knew because we saw the bank statement. On arrival the car park was scruffy, with rubbish piled in the corners. We advanced towards the main entrance through an archway so covered with climbing plant we had to tear some away so we didn’t trip over. At the front door were a dead plant in a rusty hanging basket and an elderly Christmas tree. The door, which was locked, had chipped paint and sections missing altogether. After rattling the door it was opened and we were shown into the bar area where a “colleague “ checked us in. We were given a key but no information at all about the hotel. We had to ask where our room was. On arriving upstairs through a dingy corridor we opened the door to the delights of our bedroom. A bed with scratches and carving on the base, blinds hanging at a jaunty angle and windows that did not fasten properly. We left but there was no one in the hotel even to take back our key. Do not believe the good reviews for this hotel. They are either sent by friends of the owner or by people who’s standards and expectations are extremely low
