This stay was the worst I have even had with the Hampton Inn brand. And sadly most of it was due to the General Manager and her behavior. We had traveled to Findlay for the funeral of my Father-in-law. So it wasn’t like we were there for fun. We needed a comfortable place to relax each night and try to rest before dealing with all that goes with planning a funeral and attending one. The building itself is old. It is very close to I-75 and is a little on the loud side. The furnishing look dated and worn. The ceiling had large water stains, the bathroom had some mold around the tub. The linens were very worn and the sheets were scratchy. The pillows were so bad, I ended up buying myself a pillow at Walmart. The whole place just wasn’t up to the standards we have for the Hampton Brand. But didn’t want to deal with moving to another room or hotel. We just wanted to focus on our family. We had a reservation for 7 nights. Early on the 4th morning, my Husband went to get coffee and something to drink. Well there was a sign on the elevator that it was out of order. We had a room on the 3rd floor. This was a huge inconvenience to say the least. Plus my husband has a heart condition and really has trouble going up and down stairs. So he went down and asked the front desk what was the situation. Well the front desk person informed him, that the repairman was coming and hopefully it would be fixed that day. At some point it was mentioned it might be possible for us to move to the 1st floor. But this woman was unable to confirm anything since the general manager was not there. But the woman assured us that “we would be taken care of”. As so many things were uncertain and the shabbiness of the hotel, we decided to leave and move across the street to another Hilton brand. When we drug down all of our bags. (Did see someone from housekeeping on the 3rd floor, but she didn’t offer to help us lug our bags down) The general Manager was there. We informed her we had already made reservations across the street and we wanted to check out and would like a refund for points of our unused nights (3 nights remained). From the moment she spoke with us, she had an attitude. She informed us in a very stern voice that all points would be forfeited. She also told us at that point that a room was available on the first floor. After the dismal service we had received we would have slept in our car before staying there. After we had checked out , we received a survey for our stay. When I complained about the management I received an email that called me a liar about the availability of the 1st floor room. Never have I been so disrespected by a hotel. So traveler beware. If you want to be treated poorly and walk a lot of stairs, this is the place for you!
