Boarders Inn & Suites by Cobblestone Hotels - Faribault

I booked the hotel over a month ahead of time and yet was charged 4 additional times on top of my original bill totaling over $1000 in funds I could no longer access by someone at the front desk who made a mistake when I checked in. We arrived at this hotel which we at because we were in a wedding and were immediately greeted with a very musty and mildewy reception. The lobby and all hallways smell like smoke even though they were apparently a “smoke-free” hotel. The manager is too scared to speak to guests that have bad experiences at this hotel and too proud to admit when mistakes are made let alone apologize when she charges you $500+ dollars more than you were meant to pay. This place is a joke. Stay elsewhere! When I saw the charges on my bank statement I immediately went to the front desk to report the issue and was told by a worker named Lane that their system wasn’t showing what I was saying. I reiterated that I was seeing the several charges in my bank statement and that the funds were not accessible to me because they had been taken out. Lane then proceeded to lie to me, first saying that the manager wasn’t in, but was on the way down to look at the issue. Then 2 minutes later he changed tune to say she was woking on it remotely and trying to investigate the issue. After 30 minutes of waiting I followed up on the status of the issue and was told it would be “sometime” and I was free to wait in the lobby while it got figured out but that it was being actively worked on. I asked him if I could return to my room and be called when there was an update (with the understanding that they were tackling the issue in the moment). An hour later I returned to the front desk and no one was to be found. Lane was outside smoking and relaxing, and when he came in he was immediately hostile. When I tried to find out about the status of the refund or an explanation of the charges, he began to yell at me and the other guest I was accompanied by and them he stormed outside like a little toddler throwing a tantrum. I did not yell back, let alone speak to Lane rudely the way that he was speaking to me. I asked him for the contact information of the manager and he refused to give me that because it was 11pm. Why make the mistake involving over $1000 of my hard earned money at 11pm if you can’t fix it at 11pm or explain what happened? Also how is the manager “actively working on it” but they won’t reach out to me themselves to explain that if the front desk doesn’t have the capability to fix the issue. I then came back to the front when a new employee had started their shift and this employee was just as rude ( I assume Lane told him lies about the details of our interaction even though Lane is the person who escalated our interaction by yelling at me and storming outside). This employee told me he couldn’t do anything and couldn’t give me the managers contact info, but could give me an email. I explained that I was in a wedding and would not physical

Where do I start?? The hallways and room smelled like smoke and cabbage. The pillows on the bed were like breath mints - I needed 3 just to sleep as I normally do. We had a room with a jacuzzi tub. I typically don’t use tubs in hotels, but this one had dead bugs (many) in the bottom of the tub - so that sealed the deal. The toilet seat was literally disconnected. I mean, it came off in our hands. They are recycling towels and sheets as people are finished with them. I had to make a couple trips to the desk for towels and was told they were still in the dryer. I could go on, but you get the idea. The worst part of all of this is…..I was charged nearly $200 per night for this waaaaay below average experience. I would never stay here again and would make sure I recommend no one I know ever does either.

The best part of our stay was a super friendly check in person when we arrived on Jun 7th for a two night stay. The location was perfect for us and it was a short drive back and forth to Carleton College where we were going for graduation weekend. However, the hotel definitely needs some updating sometime soon... bath towel has a hole in it, rod to pull curtain shut was laying on the shelf, and biggest complaint was it was so dim in the suite part of the room. Couldn't even read a book. And we were there when there had been some water leak near the lobby and super loud fans had to be running to dry out things which we understand but we chose to skip the included breakfast both mornings which normally we would love to stay and enjoy. It was way too loud.... got our coffee and left both mornings..good coffee.

Great stay. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. We had one of the suites, and it was much larger than I expected. Would definitely book again if I am in the area. Decent breakfast offerings. The pool and hot tub were clean and open until midnight for adults. The later checkout option on Sunday was appreciated as well!

It was not 5 stars...but it was affordable...2 stars ✨️ yes it was...mine fridge frozen water...tub drain not drained stood in shower water...bed...was really broken in ...needs to be replaced...only 2 🌟 stars 🌟

Toilet was extremely loud. Not enough counter space in the bathroom. Room needed more light- needs more lamps. Nice breakfast, good coffee, nice staff. Comfortable beds. Hotel right off the expressway.

Very upset they allowed pit bull in pool/hot tub area! Doesn’t matter what kind of dog it is, it’s gross! I told the men that I was allergic to dogs but they obviously didn’t care. Also in our whirlpool suite the whirlpool was dirty and had hairs in it.
