This is a very dog friendly hotel, nice and helpful staff. The room we had was lovely looking out over to the harbour, with a window seat, plenty of coffee and tea bags. We had an evening meal which was delicious and the next day breakfast which was equally as good. They have great vegetarian and vegan choices too. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend to anyone.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 4 month year old baby. We booked a deluxe room, with en-suite and balcony which on arrival was beautiful, clean and modern. The views from this room were spectacular. The only downside we had (our own fault), is that we will definitely book a room on the ground floor next time and recommend that families do so if you have a lot of baggage to carry up three flights of stairs and will be up a lot in the night with a young one. The team were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and offered assistance everyday. The breakfast was delicious with a fantastic menu. We also had cocktails in the evening, best espresso martini I’ve had!! Mark was an absolute dream!! So friendly and lovely everyday. Mark arranged cocktails and a birthday cake for my husband which was such a wonderful personal touch. I cannot express how amazing his customer service is, so attentive and kind. The facilities were great, tea & coffee and biscuits, lovely bathroom products, TV and WiFi. This is an exceptional place with great character. I would highly recommend this gem. Thanks so much again Mark for being such an incredible host!! Emily, Andy & Teddy :)

Had a nice couple of nights here - the room was very large with a great view over the marina and the location was ideal. Breakfast was good. We used the large car park across the road that is free overnight until 9am - that worked well for us. I used the unusually decent parking app to extend one morning rather than having to find change. All pretty convenient. The bar area and beer were very good also and the owners were very friendly.

What a lovely place this is. Our room was clean, well laid out with harbour views. The owners are very attentive, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast amazing. Well worth a visit. Hopefully the virus outbreak won’t damage their lovely little business.

This hotel is located within a short walk of the Martime Museum, its right opposite the docks and within easy 15-20 minute walk of the beach and castle. The staff at the CUTTY Stark were extremely helpful and informative. Breakfast was included and the “Full Welsh” was well worth it. Combined with the owners wellness to allow me to early Checkin after a long coach ride and that they were very communicative on my options i have only great things to say about these people and this place. The bar was well stocked and reasonably priced, the room was roomy and the en-suite more than adequate for my needs.

You would think guests staying for a full week, booked 6 months in advance, would be given a great room with a view but this was not the case. We did have a nice view of the harbour but only short term after our tour guide made a fuss on our behalf. The room didn't have an ensuite so we were traveling through the common space/hallway for access to the bathroom and shower, not ideal. We anticipated a nice canopy-style bed we had from our booking picture but were met with a bare-frame double bed, which surprised us based on our $ room rate. The bedsheets were clean and so were the towels. Fresh towels are not provided daily you do have to ask for them. We then had to switch rooms at the hotel's request, again just a small bedroom, It did have an ensuite, and at least it had a TV the first did not. The complimentary breakfast was decent, some in-season fresh fruit would have been nice but overall good. The location is good, with lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. This is not a location for someone with mobility issues as stairs are required to get to all rooms. Staff are generally friendly, exceptional service from Charlie! Charlie was such a pleasant, happy person to speak with in the mornings at breakfast, she always had a smile. All-in-all it was a place to lay our heads,(a very expensive one) that unless complimentary, I would not choose to stay again.

Fire doors locked or broken. No evidence of fire extinguishers. Unlit stairs causing my mother (77) to fall. Lower sash windows open fully. Scalding hot water. Food hygiene questionable. No accident reporting. no management presence. Significant rapid decline in standards since booking. Hotel advertising is totally inaccurate - no indication of accessibility issues.

Apart from the fire safety and health and safety issues( unlit stairways). From a drab exterior to a shabby interior. Smelly shower room, broken toilet seat, mould in shower. Cracked walls and ceilings, paintwork appalling, cobwebs. Tip of a beer garden. No senior staff. Awful breakfast. Pictures on website are from a bygone age.

Don't waste your money. The photos they use are not up to date. They no longer do meals. The breakfast is continental (not bad). So let's start with some positive points - the staff were amazing, The bed in room 8 was very comfortable with fresh bedding. Location right in the thick of it. Powerful shower. Sorry that's it. So the bit that people need to know before staying here. We had the king room advertised as having it's own bathroom. Brill as we always go for ensuite. There was no mention in the advert that the bathroom was not connected to the room. So if you did need to use the facilities you had to come out of your room across a public landing, cross the other side to the room that's classed as a bathroom ( no bath ) to a shower room. With a stained ceiling, leaking shower door, shower taps put on the wrong way round. The water temperature couldn't be turned down so very hot. No lock on door unless you take your bedroom door keys with you, a toilet seat that moved when you sat on it and smells of something you don't want to smell. There was no mention that the room was on the top floor via 4 flights of stairs of which the sensor lights didn't work on the last two which were the darkest. Back to the bedroom, a great view for everyone outside to see you undressing especially when the lights are on. Could do with a net curtain at bottom. Could be dangerous if you opened the window as it's floor level sash windows. In my opinion choose somewhere else.
