"A Truly Wonderful Stay at Idi Hotel! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our stay at Idi Hotel was absolutely fantastic and one of the highlights of our time in Crete. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness, and the friendly atmosphere made us feel completely at home. The hotel is set in a beautiful, peaceful location surrounded by nature and the stunning mountains of Zaros. The gardens are wonderfully maintained, the pool is perfect for relaxing, and the whole property has a calm, authentic Cretan charm. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully presented. Every detail contributed to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The food was also excellent, with delicious local flavours and wonderful quality. What truly makes Idi Hotel special, however, is the hospitality. The owners and staff are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and attentive. Their kindness and genuine care made our experience unforgettable. Idi Hotel is much more than a place to stay—it is a peaceful oasis where you can experience the beauty of Crete and the warmth of true Cretan hospitality. "First time in Crete and we had a blast at this hotel :) Pros- 1. Wide selection of delicious Cretan food served at breakfast & dinner buffet 2. Friendly, smiling & accomodating hotel staff 3. Well decorated exterior- especially the garden & pool, really enjoyed taking photos 4. The staff will just let you leave your bags if your transfer is late in the night and you needed to check out already. They even will let you use the pool and the public toilet & shower Cons- 1. No wifi connection in the room 2. No toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste- so remember to bring some with you 3. No coffee & tea- but there’s kettle if you buy your own coffee & tea 4. Ac- broke down during our last night Overall, I can recommend this hotel for people who are flexible to the cons and not get easily disappointed, and must have a positive outlook like us :) I am writing here just for a full & honest review to help others out there who wants to know more 🫶🏻 Hope this review helps! ❤️"

"Excellent place with a friendly and very helpful host. The kitchen is clean, well-equipped, and there’s plenty of space throughout the hostel. I especially enjoyed the pool. Overall, I highly recommend this place. The only thing I missed was a bit more social atmosphere, but it’s still early in the season. Matala is a lovely location, and this hostel offers great value, especially when booking on their website."

"Nothing like the photos on the booking sites. The room was old, dirty, and smelled bad. The staff was unpleasant, especially the owner and the receptionists. A tourist trap! There are other, much better hotels nearby."

Elea Terra Hotel ★★★

"We started on the wrong foot at Elea Terra, when the lady at the reception asked us to pay extra for the air conditioning that was included in our price. Apparently there is a problem with booking .com , where it simply doesn't say anywhere that air contidioning costs extra. But after the problem was solved we had a fantastic time there. The rooms are basic, but big enough and good enough. The pool area is fantastic, with real grass, and very calm. The buffet breakfast was excellent considering the price of the rooms. We stayed at more expensive places with much smaller buffets. And the location was perfect: walking distance to the beach, but distant enough so we didn't have to deal with the crowd and noise that goes with it. I highly recommend Elea Terra! It's great value for money."

"The 2* hotel is a few minutes from the beach and is perfect! I was there for 10 days at the end of May until 8th of June. My room was spotless, was cleaned every day by a very friendly young man and I got new sheets and towels every second day! The owners are so friendly and made me feel very welcome, their breakfast buffet and coffee was great. There were also some really tasty Greek delicacies in pastry and some Crêpes in Nutella! 😋 All in all I had a great stay and can highly recommend the Eva Marina!"
