Stayed here for one night in August. Was really impressed with the Telstar. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Room was cosy (I had a single room) and had everything I needed. Breakfast was great and fab location in town for Exeter St David’s or Exeter Central station. Will definitely stay again when passing through!

Really nice B & B, clean and very central, just a 5 minutes walk to the shops and 10 minutes to the river. Staff were very friendly and the service was good. No complaints at all.

The hotel environment is very quiet, beautiful and comfortable, clean and hygienic, and the staff are very warm and helpful. I sleep well, and the breakfast is delicious and nutritious. It is a good place to live for travel, and I will stay with my family if I have the chance in the future

Came for one night as we were seeing Paul smith at the university the place is very quaint keeping the original look,feel and smell of a proper guest house but still being modern at the same time great night sleep very clean and tidy staff were polite and helpful would definetly stay here again when we return to exeter

We booked this through a tour as an upgrade. We got a very small room with an equally small bathroom. The room faced south and got very warm during the day and the fan and open window were not adequate to cool it off and this was late Sep so it would likely be warmer in the summer. The breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It is a short walk 10 minute into Exeter and from the St. David's train station. If we return to Exeter we would look for other accommodation.

Firstly let me say this hotel is great value for money and in a great location. The breakfast was fine and the people there absolutely lovely. Based on previous reviews I hope my experience is isolated and due to the fact I am a light sleeper. However, I was in a room at the front of the property on a Saturday night. Due to the single pane sash windows I could hear all of the traffic on the adjacent main road and Saturday night revellers returning from their evening out. This meant I just could not sleep. I also had a dog in the room next door and could hear every noise due to the sound proofing. I absolutely appreciate this is the material structure of the building, replacing the windows would be a huge undertaking and such improvements would be reflected in the price but for me I just could not sleep.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Telstar. The location was good for walking around the downtown area; there were plenty of restaurant options close by; the breakfast excellent; the staff excellent. My only problem was being on the top floor (I'm not as spry as I used to be); hence my 4-pip rating rather than 5 pips. Barring the room location; this is a great place to stay when you are visiting Exeter or this part of Devonshire. I would return again when I'm in the area; but, I would make sure I could get a room on the ground or first floors.
