After reading some of the reviews before staying at this hotel I have to say I'm not surprised. I totally agree with the comments that this is not a true 5 star hotel at all. The positives are the location, the pool area and the rooms (to an extent). From one way its only a short walk to the medina and from the other it's a short walk to the beach bars. The pool area is well maintained and very attracting. The rooms are a good size with comfy bed and powerful shower and they are very clean. However, we started off by having to change rooms as the room we were first given had a chipped bath - all the paint had come up off the bottom of the bath so it was unusable, the staff solved this pretty quickly by offering us a room of the same standard one floor above. Nevertheless, I find it shocking that a 5 star hotel would not maintain their rooms in the first place. We found the cleaning staff and concierges very friendly. Some of the breakfast staff and beach staff, less so. One day we sat on the beach beds and felt looked down on and were not treated as well as some of the other guests. This really put us off and prevented us using this area again. Not sure if this is because we are a younger/mixed couple? Overall, the hotel is lacking in a lot of areas and the Accor group need to look into this. I would definitely visit Essaouira again but would probably rent an apartment since the beach and medina have so many options anyway!

The hygiene of the room was good, but we booked a room with two beds. The distance between the two beds is so small that they feel like they are connected together. And because it is a resort hotel, there is no place to put the computer in the room, and there is no decent table. It seems like people over there don't use computers at all when they're on vacation. In addition, it took me a long time to find the charging socket. It was on the side. A small socket on the side of a tree-stump chair. The panel of the socket falls off as soon as it is plugged in. The shower room has no curtain or door.

It’s okay soon, the hotel in Morocco is basically the same, and there is a small episode in the middle. We waited for the kung fu waiter in the downstairs to think that we checked out and left the things in the room, but it’s all right. Looking back, everything else is ok

I had the pleasure of staying two nights in this lovely authentic riad. From the moment you step in, you know this is a special place! The decor is fabulous and shows great attention to detail. My room and the common areas are spotlessly clean. My room was on the top floor. Outside was a large patio/balcony common area with seating. Great for stargazing! There is an atrium in the middle, you can see down to the first floor. My bed was comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and the shower was gorgeous! All of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. In addition, this riad is far easier to find than most! It is centrally located in the old city area and is a five minute walk to the beach. Highly recommend!

The hotel is five minutes from the bus down and the central block. Because it is not the peak season, it is very quiet, the room is very clean and clean, and there is a balcony to sunbathe. Well... Where to Start ... I ve been taking group of 22 dancers to Morocco for more than 22 years ... This year we planned Essaouira ... As I worked in collaboration with Hotel des Iles before... I just expected the same welcome we used to get ... But it looks like they have a New Manager who seem to know all and nothing at all ... Our Food during the week was appalling and a mediocre Tasteless with tiny portions and Dry ( Hardly any sauces served) .. That s such a shame as we re in one the best countries of the world when it comes to Food and welcoming ... Plus we had consistent comments on the dancing elements.. why were people dancing ( even in our initial emails it states the purpose of the visit ?????? ( what this got to do with him .... ff..... knows) But I ll have to give credit to the Friendly staff who never fail to please the group.. I don t usually leave Reviews But I feel this needs to reach the main Boss of the Hotel ...

You know when you walk into a room and think 'oh yes!' ? That's this hotel. It's about the view, but not just about the view. That view though: right up and down the beach, perfect for sunset. Going to sleep and walking up listening to the waves roll in. The hotel is 5 minutes' walk to the Medina and close to both CTM and Supratours bus stops. Just across from the entrance is a beach bar and sun loungers. The breakfast spread is well worth getting up for with a wide selection of Moroccan and French options. The best thing though: Imane on the reception desk. She could not have been more friendly and helpful and made a great stay even better. Shkran Imane!

Riad Chbanate is amazing! Every Riad in Morocco astounds me with its style, graciousness, and comfort. With gorgeous architecture, the rooms at the Chbanate are more romantic than most, and I think it would be perfect for a honeymoon. But even at 72, I could appreciate the sensual decor. Service exudes that Moroccan warmth. Smiles abound, led by the irrepressible Samira, who was very charming. Greg and Hichen were also helpful and fun. Breakfasts were delicious and elegant, served in a lovely room off the courtyard. We had a perfect stay. The Riad Chbanate was so wonderful, I could spend my entire holiday never leaving the Riad, except for dinner and to listen to music. It is a great place for a respite.
