"A fabulous boutique hotel, we had a side sea view room on the second floor, our room was very contemporary and clean the views from our balcony were spectacular. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice ,we loved the fresh orange juice machine and eating breakfast on the pier with amazing views. The hotel staff were all friendly, we will definitely return."

"We had a relaxing stay at Port Elounda Resort, a luxuary hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. A special thanks to Anthi at reception, who was incredibly kind, always ready to help with any issue, and did so with a genuine smile. Her assistance made our experience even more enjoyable."

Elounda Residence Resort & Waterpark ★★★★

📍 Emmanouil Pouli, Elounda, Agios Nikolaos

"We stayed at this resort from 16 July 2026 for six nights, and unfortunately our experience did not live up to our expectations. Our first impression was that the resort looked a little tired and in need of refurbishment. Check-in was smooth, and we were taken to our room by golf buggy. We were fortunate to be allocated a room close to reception and the restaurant because this is a very large resort with lots of steep hills and many flights of steps. If you have mobility issues or struggle with walking, I would not recommend this resort. The room itself was comfortable and mostly clean, although one of the towels had a large yellow stain on it. One thing worth noting is that you cannot flush toilet paper, so all used tissue must be disposed of in a bathroom bin. The pool areas were mixed. The upper pool had green staining around the edges and what appeared to be some exposed sharp metal edging in places, which didn’t inspire confidence. The main pool was a decent size, and my son really enjoyed the water slides. However, the water was extremely salty, leaving salt residue on our skin, hair and swimwear, and it stung our eyes. Also, be prepared for a workout—there are 81 steps down to the pool, which also means 81 steps back up again. The biggest disappointment was the food and the handling of allergies. My children and I all have coeliac disease, and despite informing the hotel, we experienced repeated issues with cross-contamination. I personally suffered with a severe stomach upset for six of the six days we were there, and my son also became ill with stomach pain and vomiting. I personally witnessed the chef using the same tongs to handle gluten-containing chicken nuggets, then mixing gluten-free chips with those same tongs before returning to cook chicken that was also supposed to be gluten-free. I reported this to the restaurant manager, who unfortunately didn’t seem to understand the seriousness of the issue. We were then referred to the operations manager, who was extremely helpful and took the complaint seriously. Sadly, I later witnessed the chef cross-contaminating food again later in the week. Anyone with coeliac disease or serious food allergies should exercise extreme caution when eating here. Another incident that concerned us happened during breakfast one morning. Staff were mopping up what appeared to be sewage coming up through a drain in the middle of the restaurant floor. The smell was unpleasant, and towels had been placed on the floor to absorb the liquid while guests continued eating around the area. Shortly afterwards, maintenance staff lifted a floor tile and inserted a long pipe into another drain, apparently attempting to clear the blockage. I was later told they carried the pipe back through the dining area while people were still eating. In my opinion, the restaurant should have been closed temporarily for health and safety reasons, as sewage and food service simply should not mix. The staff throughout the resor"

"The hotel was disappointing, clearly it was not ready for the season.Whilst the staff were positive the general standards let it down. Our first room had no hot water we then moved without any help to another room which had nice terrace and seaview. The loungers unfortunately were broken and took two days to get changed. The breakfast was basic no live cooking and repetitive. Hotel needs a full overhaul, broken signs, missing lights, dirty windows etc. luckily we made our holiday out of the hotel and still enjoyed our trip."

Elounda Heights (Adults Only)

Elounda Heights (Adults Only) ★★★★

📍 Schisma Eloundas, Elounda

"I have reviewed Elounda Heights before but felt it worthy of another. It is a very special place with a unique atmosphere run by a small but tight team of 10 people who are all super friendly. You are well looked after, from the moment you arrive, to the time you leave. All the rooms, either studios or apartments, are immaculate with either a terrace or balcony offering uninterrupted views over the bay of Korfos and Mirabello Bay. Rooms are regularly cleaned with fresh towels and bedding every couple of days. Also, complimentary shampoos, conditioners, and moisturisers are replenished when used. The food at the pool bar is all freshly made with a good selection of Greek and other warm and cold snacks. There is an on-site restaurant and bar where meals are served every evening (except Sundays), and a daily special is created by the legend that is Vangelis. Always delicious. There is an ala carte menu too. The owners, Kostas and Natalia, are constantly improving their offering year on year, and have plans for more apartments with their own private pools for 2026 which sounds exciting. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at Elounda Heights, and you are quite likely to re-book once you have stayed as the number of repeat guests are testament to."

"I wanted to share my positive experience during a recent stay with my granddaughter Ada.  Yannis was incredibly helpful and friendly upon our arrival. Ada had hurt her thumb, and Yannis was very kind in assisting with that. In fact, we found all the hotel staff to be lovely and always ready to help. We also really appreciated the nice hotel and the good choice of food available at the jungle bar, which was nicely presented. Our room was spotlessly clean and the hotel overall felt very child-friendly. We had a very happy and enjoyable time and would highly recommend your hotel as a great place to stay. I am already planning to return in the future. Belinda"

"Wow, just wow. Spotless clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Fantastic breakfasts you can have sitting next to the beach if you want. Great location. Rooftop pool was lovely, but not many sunbeds. Our room was great with a fridge, balcony and great shower. No hesitation in recommending it. We'll definitely go back."

"Couldn't find many recent reviews on Porto Elounda so I thought I'd try and help out a little. It seems as though the hotel has increased listings with major UK tour operators for the 2025 season so the May half term has seen an increase in British guests. The setting is beautiful on Mirabello Bay and the restaurants all look out onto the shimmering expanse of blue. The hotel is positioned on a relatively steep hill but the resort has many golf buggies whizzing around if you're struggling with mobility. The rooms are spacious and the addition of private pools is a bonus for families. We stayed in the spa wing of the resort and the interiors are a little dated. They've tried to upweight the offering and modernise with ipads in the rooms which allow restaurant bookings. Bizarrely. they still have dvd players in the rooms. The maid service is very thorough and you get regular room tidying which is a big bonus. I would say that this resort caters for very young children nicely. For those with slightly older children like ours there is very little to do. There is no entertainment on offer within the resort and the focus is very much on dining. Elies beach bar is a lovely set up but sometimes the service let it down during lunch servings. The best part of the visit was the trips to the neighbouring restaurants on a boat journey. This was really spectacular at night and added a splash of luxury feel to it. My final sentiments are about cost. The bar prices are incredibly expensive which is prohibitive for some. €16 for an Aperol is unrealistic. If this is the pricing model then fine but at least add a Happy hour into it to stop the pool staff having to ask guests to purchase drinks. A lovely location but work to be done on becoming a true 5* resort."

"We stayed for 3 nights as a ‘relax’ at the end of our holiday in Crete. The staff are wonderful and location was perfect for exploring Elounda. Only negative I would say is the air-con that was temperamental and only in kitchen so bedroom was very hot at night. Plenty of very comfortable loungers infront of the rooms at the front. Pool with swim up was a bonus. Kitchen would be limited if trying to self cater but with so many great restaurants around why would you. Probably the best shower I’ve ever had in a hotel anywhere around the world!"

"1st the good things, Lovely villa, with our own pool which was great and clean. The pool was a good size for a private one. Staff in general were good, pleasant and efficient. The shared pool areas were lovely, enough for our 6 year old to have lots of fun. Now bad things. The kids fun park was a big let down, it was very dated, poorly equipped and not at all as advertised. The bus to Elounda was laughable, it took you a few hundred yards from the hotel and left you to walk down or up a very steep hill. Also ran only every 2 hours. My biggest complaint however was the food, we went all inclusive hoping we wouldn't spend too much going out but the food was so inadequate this wasn't the case. It looked like there should be a good selection but it was the same all the time, tasteless, cold and nowhere near the 4 star rating it claims to have. Very disappointing."

"This is not a 4 star hotel - it's 3 at a push. The positive points are that it's extremely well situated in Elounda which is a lovely place for a chilled quiet week in the sun with plenty of bars and restaurants (although absolutely no nightlife if you want to go out for a dance). The staff are helpful and friendly, our room was spacious with a sea view. However my advice is don't go half board here as the food isn't great - breakfast was just passable, Dinner was awful.... we ended up eating out every night so we felt that we'd wasted money going Half Board. Pool is lovely but very tired, we both got splinters from the decking as it's breaking up.. the pool itself needs a good clean - there's a green around the water beds... On a plus note - Nico the barman is a sweetheart - always smiling and helpful. This hotel needs some money spent on it's maintenance.... It's fine - just don't expect 4 star."

Elounda Heights (Adults Only) ★★★★
"Elounda Heights is a family run hotel, set high on the side of a hill occupying an absolutely magnificent position overlooking Mirabello Bay, with spectacular sea and mountain views that set the tone for an utterly relaxing stay. We stayed in one of the brand-new air-conditioned Mirabello Suites with private pool and patio, complete with a small kitchenette, spacious walk-in rain shower, wash basin and organic toiletries. The beds are among the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Breakfasts by the pool, overlooking Mirabello Bay, are varied and very tasty. The homemade jams are not to be missed! In the evening George prepares homemade, traditional daily specials which are delicious. The accommodation throughout was very clean and comfortable. The gardens are well-tended which added to the tranquillity of the hotel. What truly elevates Elounda Heights is the staff: Natalia, Kostas, Katerina (the Cocktail Queen!), Sinead, Christina, Ritsa and every member of staff go out of their way to ensure every guest has a wonderful experience. Their warmth, friendliness and attention to detail make all the difference."

"An absolutely beautiful setting however a very frustrating lack of umbrellas and sun beds. Each morning these are bagged early with towels and buckets and spades and abandoned for hours. Regardless of beach staff saying they remove stuff at mid day. They do not. On occasion we were fortunate. We did also go to reception and one of the mangers came and helped us get beds. we witnessed several people not returning until about 4 pm from 11 in the morning. The bigger beach is very noisy and not at all peaceful. We had to endure smoking. Vaping and everyone’s loud conversations on their phones and one day endure a guest loudly farting all day. Not the hotel’s fault. But just felt no where near peaceful 5 star. As people have said drinks are very expensive. Even water in room is charged. The reception staff are excellent helpful and friendly. Nothing is a problem. I have an allergy and the restaurant staff struggled to understand this. Puddings are also poorly labelled and not all were labelled. Management did address my concerns though so it’s always worth going to them. Easy reach of town. 8 euros for taxi back. Our room was lovely and kept clean and dining staff were really friendly."

"We stayed here for 4 nights. I had booked a sea view room, but they said it was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi. While the jacuzzi was nice and relaxing, the sea view was quite limited, which was a bit disappointing. The property is located in a remote and peaceful part of the island. It has excellent internet access and a decent outdoor gym. Since it is right by the sea, you can enjoy walking or running along the coast to the nearest town, Mavrikianon. One important thing to mention is that the property does not have direct access to the sea. To swim, you need to go to either Plaka Beach, which requires a minimum spend of €40 per person to use the sunbeds, or to Mavrikianon Beach, which is much more affordable at €5 per person for the entire day. Mavrikianon Beach is very pleasant and close to markets where you can buy drinks. There are also some good food and drink spots nearby, such as Rudi’s Bar, a British-style pub, and Porto Rino, which serves great pizzas. Make sure to skip Nico’s Fish Tavern and try the Ferryman instead — you won’t regret it. What we found most frustrating was the lack of mosquito screens on the windows. Sleeping with the windows open was not really an option, even though the natural breeze was wonderful. Our room had air conditioning, but we tend to get sick sleeping with it on. There was a ceiling fan as well, but it is a shame to miss out on the fresh air simply because of a missing screen. The breakfast was also a disappointment. There were very few options, the coffee was not good, and the omelettes were overcooked. The most inconvenient part of our stay was the parking system. You have to check in and out with security every time, which felt excessive and time-consuming. It gave the impression of entering a high-security zone, not a relaxing holiday resort. Overall, it was a good experience with some nice features, but for the price, it lacks comfort and convenience in a few key areas. ."
