I booked a room from out of state for 2 weeks; I had stayed here last year at about the same time. There are 2 motel units, one rents at $55/night, the other at $65/night. I was placed in the higher-cost room. I discovered the first evening that the door would not lock and the TV would not turn on. There was insufficient lighting in the room. I reported these issues last year during my stay, but the room door did lock some of the time. I told the manager on the next morning of the issues and she suggested I move to a different room. i had expensive gear and did not want it stolen. I was moved to the cheaper motel for the remainder of my stay. Fee was paid at $650 for the higher priced room, so I was due $150 refund for the lesser room. Management denied my request and kept the $75 difference for the first week. I left one day before the 2 weeks were up, and should have gotten a Refund of $55 for that night; also denied, and I should not have paid for the first night as it was an unsafe and inadequate room. The corrupt owner in CA would not compromise at all and kept my $195 illegally. Very poor quality motel.
