We had the best day here for our wedding. The staff, venue, food and everyone else that the venue used for our wedding all made it the best day for us. Right down the the final little things. Incredible place. Can’t recommend enough. We will be back again soon to visit

Stopped here to visit Polish Map of Scotland.......amazing! Decided to have lunch......well......Absolutely delicious! 2 courses, beautifully presented and excellent service. £15.95 for 2 courses or £19.95 for 3 courses. Fantastic value. I would highly recommend.......wish I lived nearer!

Staff were lovely, very attentive. Room was clean & comfortable. Bathroom could do with an upgrade but otherwise very nice. Only complaint is the pub food was not worth the price we paid. Chicken on the nachos was dry and the pizza had what felt like a whole block of cheese on it. Cocktails were great, service was quick.

We booked a last minute stay on Saturday and I have to say that aside from the location, our experience was very poor for a four star hotel. Room - for the money, the room was in need of a refurb! Very tired and beyond basic. I wouldn't have said it was even particularly clean. The shower was barely a shower with the lack of power and the bathroom needed a good scrub. ( I couldn't even use it and went to pool shower instead) Dinner - we got told that they would be busy that evening in both the restaurant and bar: expected on a saturday evening and holiday weekend. We opted for the bar and had to eat early due to the supposed business as it was the only time we could get unless we eat after 8pm. Anyway we turned up and and ended up being only people eating apart from two/three other tables. We then asked for water ( no ice or lemon) and had to wait another 5 minutes to get the attention of the waitress to ask for glasses! I would have thought drinking out a glass was a basic. The food took a while and wasn't great. My partner had the linguine and it was watery with no real taste and I had the steak and ale pie ( couldn't taste any ale and wasn't particularly hot!) I decided to have pudding but again we weren't asked if we wanted dessert when plates collected. We sat around and and waited for nearly 30 minutes before partner went and got someone! In all this time no other people arrived to eat! It took over two hours to eat with all the waiting around! Breakfast - mildly better and hot option was OK and and good if compared to dinner. The porridge was lumpy and bland no matter how much honey you added and i would have expected more fruit and pastries like most hotels we visit have. Check out - didn't even get asked if we had enjoyed our stay!!! Clearly they don't even want to get feedback and given the standards I don't blame them. I would also say that on check in we had to ask times of facilities and receptionist didn't bother to even give us the code for the pool. We did formally complain by email and it won't shock anyone that we are still awaiting any sort of acknowledgement! Overpriced and a basic 2/3 star hotel at best!

Really disappointed with this establishment. The rooms are not just tired but exhausted. We daren’t have a shower given the mould and cleanliness of the bathroom. Holes in wall and wallpaper coming away from wall. We had arranged for early check in but on arrival and advising we were checking in the receptionist’s response was “ I don’t think so”!!! When we requested that some plates etc be cleared away said receptionist was abrupt and unfriendly. Housekeeping staff sit on chairs in the corridors shouting to each other seemingly oblivious to the guests. Good points are the function rooms which are well appointed and the waiting staff and bar staff are very efficient and courteous. The suites have been renovated to good standard in recent times. Our room was above function suite and there is no sound insulation whatsoever - band could have been in the room with us. No air conditioning - room very stuffy. Wedding rate seemed to differ depending on whether it was the night of the wedding or the day before - £185 for a room that struggled to hit 1 star never mind 3 stars is excessive and borders on insulting.

Dated and worn, the room was tiny and no aircon if you stay when there is a wedding bring earplugs. Food was awful and the management really not helpful don't think they ever heard of customer service 1 really nice waitress though and the bed was comfortable

We got married at Barony Castle on 14 April. Our wedding day was amazing, everything we hoped it would be and more! Despite our original wedding co-ordinator leaving a few weeks before the wedding, Hannah, our new co-ordinator was on hand straight away. She had thoroughly read our file and arranged to meet us to ease any concerns we may have had. She was always happy to answer questions by email/phone or meet us if required. Hannah and the rest of the team made sure our day went smoothly. Our room, the Eddleston suite, which I got ready in is beautiful. It is lovely and bright for doing hair and make up and was nice to stay in. The Elibank room was set up perfectly for our ceremony. It was absolutely beautiful. Our meal was delicious and guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food. (including those with dietary requirements). The service was quick and efficient and the food piping hot. We had been for a tasting 6 months prior to the day where Jeanette talked us through each chosen dish and the wines that would be served. Our evening reception was held in the Meldons room. We had an LED dance floor as part of our wedding package and it looked fantastic. We had about 60 guests and the room was beautifully decorated with the tables laid out well. We supplied our own DJ, Marvellous Disco (also recommended) and the dance floor was never empty! For our buffet we had stovies and bacon rolls which were very good. Service at the bar was friendly and efficient with no long waits. There were security guards hired privately by Barony Castle as they do for all functions. The two gents were very pleasant, they didn't 'guard' our reception and were out of sight. It did not have any impact on our overall enjoyment. A fresh, hot and delicious breakfast was brought to our room the next morning. In summary we would highly recommend the Barony Castle Hotel for a wedding and thank all the staff that were involved. We're now looking forward to our return for our 1st anniversary stay.

Our stay at Barony castle hotel was fantastic, a wee Scottish hidden treasure with beautiful gardens and grounds for a wee walk . Better still enjoy the fantastic facilities, gym sauna and pool , oops almost forgot the jacuzzi. The staff are very helpful and easy to talk too , always willing to help you . The food was excellent, we had lunch in the blue dug bar area and dinner at the tribute venue . Breakfast was fabulous, great choice . I honestly can see why people return year after year . Just to finish our suite was fantastic and spotless. Great job guys 10/10
