This historic inn is an oasis of peace and utter quiet, so welcome after the noise and commotion of big city life. The innkeepers, Charles and Jill, are warm, welcoming, and unobtrusively attentive. My stay over Christmas included a snowstorm and two island wide power outages. Charles and Jill met this crisis so resourcefully and were so attentive to my comfort. The power outage, in a way, was like a trip back in time, with the soft glow of candlelight illuminating the beautifully furnished antiques filled rooms. They spoiled me with creative, flavorful vegan breakfasts with a very welcome variety of fresh fruits. The view from the large windows in the breakfast room was an enchanting snowscape with birds coming to the feeders, including some hardy little hummingbirds. I enjoyed the conversations with my hosts when they joined me over coffee. My suite was spotless, and I enjoyed watching my favorite BBC series on the DVD player, tucked in my warm cosy bed. The extreme below freezing cold outside kept me indoors, where I enjoyed sipping tea and reading my book in the lovely drawing room. It was so peaceful and restful.
