From the moment we stepped into this comfortable craftsman style home, we were relaxed and greated by the most charming and interesting hosts! Charles and Jill have lovingly applied their own touches through the food they serve and attention to details in the rooms and information about the island. We discovered similar interests that allowed us to visit a perma culture nursery on the island that we would not have known about otherwise. Their jacuzzi under the stars afforded us relaxation and the beds were perfect for a good night's sleep. With Jill's baking skills and Charles' culinary talents, breakfasts were an anticipated event. We never left hungry! Location is perfect if you're wanting to explore the whole island. We were in the Flicker Room. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We like to stay in bed and breakfast , so I feel we can give a good review comparison . Kangaroo House is the best we have ever stayed at . The island and the house are a treasure to discover . Jill and Charles are the kind and generous the best great host / hostess . They go out of their way to take care of you and really take time to help you have a great visit . The breakfast are a treat and carry you through til dinner ( highlight !!) . The hot tub , is so quaint and needed after a fun filled day on the island . Plenty of history in the house and the location is perfect . Highly recommend. We miss them already .

We've been coming to Orcas Island since 2011 and until this year we stayed at the Outlook Inn. Well this year they more than doubled or tripled the rent pricing it out of our range. After some research looking for "plan B" we chose the Kangaroo House B&B. We were in the Chickadee room for $250 a night. We were concerned that it was one mile away from the center of town but it turned out to be no problem. Bicycling into town took minutes. Every morning Charles and Jill provided us with scrumptious breakfasts, much better than anything we could cook for ourselves! In the evening we would bring food from town to the outside patio and enjoy a quiet meal surrounded by melodious birds. The lobby had a refrigerator where we stored our drinks and we'd re-freeze our ice packs to keep our other drinks and snacks cold in our cooler in the room. Every morning there was coffee in the lobby and in the afternoon hot water for tea. I brought instant coffee with me for afternoon coffee. The queen bed was comfortable with lots of covers. The room had no TV but who cares? WiFi was adequate and occasionally kicked us off. The bathroom and shower were good. No complaints. We'll try the Goldfinch room next year. Charles and Jill were very hospitable and friendly, treating us like old friends. Terrific couple. This B&B is so comfortable that we will return there every summer. Charles and Jill, looking forward to seeing you in 2025.

We had the fortune of staying at Kangaroo House for three nights in July. I wasn’t sure what to expect since we’d never been to the Island and we don’t typically stay at B&B’s. What a treat! The house is charming and the grounds are magical. Jill and Charles were incredible hosts, they were gracious with their time and so knowledgeable about the best spots on the island. We took several of their reservations and were not disappointed. The morning breakfasts were delicious and beautiful, definitely better than a typical homemade meal. We stayed in the Goldfinch room which had a comfy King bed and a large bathroom. Though the room was right off the stairs it was quiet and we hardly heard the other guests. You will hear the birds in the morning and an occasional plane departure, but coming from a city, this wasn’t a problem for us. The B&B is one mile to downtown East Sound and it’s an easy 20 minute walk or 4 minute drive. There is parking onsite which made it very easy to come and go. If you’re looking for a comfortable home base for your trip to Orcas, I would not hesitate to book here and book early! THANK YOU JILL AND CHARLES!!

Jill and Charles are so wonderful! They served an Organic, big breakfast each morning, they have the most beautiful area for the hot tub nestled in the woods. I slept wonderfully every night. I won’t stay anywhere else when I come back to visit the islands.

What a great place to stay! The bedroom was beautiful and my wife and I listened to an audiobook that evening there. We sat out on the front deck and enjoyed a woodpecker while having drinks and eating snacks. We also spent some time in the hot tub, which was just magical because of the wooded surroundings and its set a little back from the house so there's lots of privacy. Plenty of firewood for the fireplace and other guests were congenial to share that space with. In the morning we were given a delicious breakfast and enjoyed the company of the owners who also prepared the meal. All in all a relaxing time.

This historic inn is an oasis of peace and utter quiet, so welcome after the noise and commotion of big city life. The innkeepers, Charles and Jill, are warm, welcoming, and unobtrusively attentive. My stay over Christmas included a snowstorm and two island wide power outages. Charles and Jill met this crisis so resourcefully and were so attentive to my comfort. The power outage, in a way, was like a trip back in time, with the soft glow of candlelight illuminating the beautifully furnished antiques filled rooms. They spoiled me with creative, flavorful vegan breakfasts with a very welcome variety of fresh fruits. The view from the large windows in the breakfast room was an enchanting snowscape with birds coming to the feeders, including some hardy little hummingbirds. I enjoyed the conversations with my hosts when they joined me over coffee. My suite was spotless, and I enjoyed watching my favorite BBC series on the DVD player, tucked in my warm cosy bed. The extreme below freezing cold outside kept me indoors, where I enjoyed sipping tea and reading my book in the lovely drawing room. It was so peaceful and restful.

My husband and I were traveling to Orcas Island to attend a wedding for our daughter's girlfriend. We so-enjoyed our stay at the Kangaroo House! From the warm hospitality of the owners, Jill and Charles, to the AMAZING, DELICIOUS breakfasts!! THANK-YOU!! The setting was quiet and peaceful, the rooms so lovely, with such comfortable beds. We felt like we were coming home at the end of a day enjoying beautiful Orcas Island! We had to catch an early ferry the day we left, and Jill and Charles provided a delicious to go breakfast and coffee. Thank-you so much! We hope to be back!! Alan and Carla
