Next to the golf course, this is an old hotel. It is clean, but very old. The hot and cold water in the taps are separate. The hotel also provides heating in the summer evening, so it is very quiet. There are many small animals to walk around and meet unexpectedly. It is suitable for self-driving. There are also bus groups staying. The surrounding environment is very good, there is a lawn suitable for weddings, and the sunny breakfast restaurant is also impressive.

Just an overnight business stay.
Beautiful and well-appointed hotel set in wooded grounds at the end of a long driveway. Good sized double room with everything needed EXCEPT a decent WiFi signal.
It's an old rambling building and this may have contributed to poor signal, both for WiFi and mobile. This was a bit of a nuisance but not even of a bother to put me off staying again if passing through the area.

The hotel and service were excellent but dinner on the first night was a complete disappointment. The batter on the fish and chips was a very pale colour, the Thai green curry didn’t resemble the dish and the pastry on the steak pie was an empty bubble. The fourth meal was acceptable. My husband left the table and told the duty manager that the meals we had were substandard. The manager said he’d contact the general manager and get back to him. I sent an email to the hotel stating the same. I have not had a reply. Best Western sent a survey which I completed. Nobody has contacted us. Needless to say we hired a taxi to go to a restaurant on the second night.

Had a two night stay with my son,we had a really nice time away ,really enjoyed the pool ,bed was comfortable the only thing that lets the hotel down is the very tired room,the room was very dated and needs a refurb ,windows old and full of condensation carpet coming away at the door,bathroom is old and needs upgrading. The showers in the changing room at the pool area needs a refurb too. We still had a really nice time away spending some quality time together,had a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed,we would come again, hopefully some room refurbishment is being done as the hotel is nice and in a nice location.

The difference between good and great are the staff who made the whole experience very enjoyable… They were all excellent, cheery and looked as if they were enjoying their work … a well situated nice hotel with a boost of personality applied by its fantastic staff..

The receptionist upon arrival made us feel very unwelcome and an inconvenience. The decor is dated, which is something that can be tolerated, but not when it is filthy . Our room was absolutely filthy, general thick dust on the doors and skirting boards and bathroom fan. The curtains and nets were all stained and yellow. There were splashes of dirt all over the wall. The bathroom tiles were dirty and cracked. The bathroom mat was covered in mould and the previous occupants rubbish was left on the floor next to the bin.

Very good overall. Spa facilities mostly all available (no sauna). Room was spot on. Breakfast was disappointing. Cold plates is not a good start and having to wait for buffet service is not on either. Tea/coffee/milk brought to the table but you had to go look for sugar and so it goes on. Simple things in themselves but annoying when all you want to do is sit down and eat breakfast.

Bedroom: large room, large comfortable bed. Bathroom: the first thing that struck me was the awful smell from the dirty shower curtain!! The shower was over the bath with NO grab rails to aid elderly/disabled guests. Dining: No tablecloths on the sticky, scratched tables. Crockery and cutlery not very clean. Young serving staff were all excellent, friendly and attentive. Plenty of choice for breakfast, acceptable evening meal.
