Econo Lodge of Dumas, Texas fits the bill for a budget stay. I don't need much in a motel: a clean room, comfortable bed, a bathroom, reasonable wi-fi, and enough quiet to sleep well. This place provides those for around $80 including taxes. The new owners are upgrading the decor and floors.

Quite possibly the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. The door didn’t lock in the first room, so they reluctantly switched us to another room. The door still didn’t lock properly, but at least there was a chain. Terrible musty smell, dirty, the wall air conditioner didn’t have a filter and was full of dust. I get that it’s a low cost hotel, but locking doors feel like table stakes. The other folks staying with us had issues with their doors locking too.

this is the worst motel that I have ever stayed in my entire life I am 66 so there has been a lot mold on bathroom walls in one room they changed me to another one after I threw a fit and the shower had a large crack/hole in the floor I tried going to another motel but they were all booked and they never offered me a refund

On the one hand, it's fairly clean and quiet, kind of what you'd expect from a budget hotel. However, there were just enough things wrong that I can't recommend. Get in the room, and the window is open. Not the drapes, the window. It was nice out, but not that nice. Later that evening, discover a negligee and a tube of skin lotion in the drawer. No remote for the TV. All of these seem like things that should've been noticed and taken care of before a guest was put in the room. Also forgot to ask for AAA discount until after check-in. When I inquired, the guy at the desk said "basically we can't do anything since you've already paid." Well, not true, you could cancel the charge and submit a new one with a lower rate. Not worth fighting over a few bucks. Also didn't sleep hardly at all. These are on me, but didn't help my mood when reviewing.
