Tru by Hilton Duluth Mall Area

Nice place to stay in Duluth with convenient location, clean room and great customer service. Free breakfast, indoor pool and comfortable lounge made this stay quite satisfying. We highly recommend this place, next time you are in Duluth.

Nice hotel. Clean rooms and good location. Hotel looks new. Breakfast was standard true. Staff was very attentive and excellent service. There seems to be some road construction near the hotel, so entrance was bit confusing. But must be temporary.

We were very impressed. We usually stay in Canal Park but the prices are out of control, especially for a Wednesday. Tru was safe, very clean and very friendly. They have a pool table in the lobby, great idea. Will stay again. We save over $200 staying here when I stay again I will stay on the back side. A little loud in the morning from the road.

We have stayed in many Tru's over the years and decided to try one again in Duluth, MN. When I went to their website the average cost for one room with two queens was $177.00. Upon check in I asked if we could lock in our rate for the five days, and I was told no and that on the weekend dates, there would be a SLIGHTLY higher price. When we left, the cheapest room rate was $187.00 on our bill and on the weekends, it ballooned to $325.00. We were disappointed and when I expressed my dismay, the general manager could not explain to me what an average was and how none of the nights cost $177.00. Plus, I had requested daily room service and the cleaning staff missed us twice. I get the concept of supply and demand but I think these prices could be an example of corporate greed.

Stayed at this location 3 times. The first time it was top rate. Front desk female was very polite and friendly, recognized that we were HH members and gave us complimentary bag. Room was clean. Last two times we have stayed, the front desk male is not very friendly and rather abrupt, like you are bothering him. Both of these last 2 times we had to ask the following day for our Hilton Honors bags. Also had our pet with us, when I went to get the complimentary treats, the bin was empty so I notified the female and mentioned they were out. She rudely stated "it's been empty for the past 2 days." and put the tin back out at the front desk. 2 days seems like plenty of time to refill it, plus I was just checking in, was I supposed to know that it was out for the past days? Maybe don't put it out on display then, The cleanliness is going downhill quickly. Our shower had black mold on the splash guard at the bottom of the door. Toilet had stains in it (the black ones that come down the top from not being cleaned for how long, god only knows). Just not worth the $300+ price tag anymore.

The Tru by Hilton is hidden at the top of the hill in Duluth. When I say hidden, I do mean that I had to find the road to get back to the hotel. Down the street from the hotel is the mall area, and it's only an 8 minute drive down the hill to Canal Park. The hotel is well put together with a nice lobby (with a little marketplace), a pool table, a pool, and even a little workout room. The rooms are nice (though the lack of closet was off-putting at first) with everything (a bed, desk, fridge) in one room. For the most part the stay was good. There are a few notes, however: 1. Breakfast, while part of the deal, is a little sparse. 2. There needs to be some more soundproofing. We were on the second floor and could hear neighbors showering and could hear motorcycles and cars in the parking lot. 3. They do accept dogs here, so you can bring your fur baby with you. The area around for a walk is ok, but wear bug spray or get bit. Overall, the stay was great, and my family would stay here again (and might next year).

What a charming and welcomed place. Right away you feel like you are in a modern Euro hotel. Everything is new and clean. No clutter - no broken lamps - clean floor plans - pet friendly for real not just to make an additional $$$! The room we had had cool hard material floor — perfect for a doggy room. Breakfast was good as well. All in all a perfect place to stay before visiting the stunning Lake Superior sights.

10/10 hotel!! I would most definitely stay here again if I’m in the area. I’m a little picky when it comes to hotels, but this one met my expectations and then some! The room was a little smaller than I had originally anticipated, but it was only a kind sized bed, so I suppose that’s normal. Other than that, it was clean and the hotel staff was more than helpful on getting us more towels and advising us what to do locally. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone, I’ll be a Hilton member for life :)

Stayed there also pre pandemic. Was great place then and more excellent now. Katyrn was at front office. Greeted very well . Check in very swift clean nice rooms hotel location awesome. Hot breakfast with lots of food coffee tea 24 hrs gym inside pool available at no extra cost
