Naio Hotel y Villas by OxoHotel ★★★
Dreamer Palomino ★★
"Very nice dorms with fans and comfortable beds. The hostel is very cool with pool and a pool table! Would recommend it to backpackers travelling to Palomino for sure. Also super close to the beach and beach parties! "
Coconuco Beach Palomino ★★★★
"Our host, Carolina, was a gem! The grounds were beautiful and home to many species of wildlife. The food was fantastic, and the staff was very helpful. We loved the pool, sauna, and walks on the beach (during low tide). Seeing the snow caps from the water was awe-inspiring. Highly recommended."
AMĀRA BEACH ECO HOTEL ★★★
"I stayed at RCH with my husband and two young children (6 and 8 years) five nights in January 2024. Upon arrival, one of the owners Paul offered our family an upgrade for a small fee - specifically, he upgraded us to a family suite, which comprises two interconnecting rooms (each with own bathroom). This configuration was our favourite configuration in all of Colombia, as previously we had been losing sleep by sharing two double beds between the four of us (the standard family room setup in the other hotels we stayed in). Thank you Paul for thinking of us and making this happen. Rooms - we were in interconnecting suites 3 and 4. The rooms are thoughtfully furnished and sleep quality is high (you can hear the waves!) The beds, pillows and linen were extremely comfortable, and a mosquito need is hung around the bed in case you would like it (though we didn’t actually see any mosquitoes). The bathrooms open-air and extremely lovely. L’Occitane essentials are provided. Hot water is plumbed in (quite unusual in these parts!), including at the outdoor beach shower. Vibes and location - the location is approx. a 2.5 hour, easy drive from Santa Marta. In terms of vibes, there is a lovely pool, bar and restaurant scene overlooking the water. The beach scenario is chalk and cheese as compared with Santa Marta (where we stayed for two nights). Here, there are no nuisances such as motorised watersports, touts setting up jewellery stands in front of you, people grabbing your feet and not letting go in order to give you a massage (all happened in Santa Marta). And while I don’t want to unduly disparage Santa Marta - the beach is truly stunning and we still had an amazing time - this is a much quieter experience, with only a few others on the beach at at time, and nobody selling things. Suitability for families - absolutely yes! Bring your children here. Just happy days on the beach - and more! Children are warmly received and welcomed. In fact, Paul went out of his way to arrange a special visit from a macaw for the children at the hotel! Between the beach and pool, and types of activities on offer, our children were extremely happy and entertained. I would like to add a special note that the people who designed the menu really “get kids”, and there are many options that our kids just loved. At one point they were fighting over the pasta al horno (I think that’s what it was called! The pasta with cheese). Interestingly, I thought the hotel was still romantic and perfect for couples. Paul and Carlos are nailing it! Activities - we were truly touched by the effort Carlos went to in planning our activities. We told Paul (in the first instance, then Carlos) what our interests were, and they curated a little itinerary for us. The flamingo experience was truly world-class and I hope that this attraction will be developed sustainability if and when it becomes more popular! Fingers crossed. But pre-kids, hubby and I saw flamingoes in four countries - Chile, E"
Palomino Sunrise ★★★
"You don't get 5* rating because you sent a booking confirmation with a story begging for 5* because you support a good cause, of which there is nothing to be found back while staying. So, only 4 from me because it is still a good place to stay. We booked the fancy looking deluxe bungalow but changed for our second night to the stone huts which have an air conditioning unit. The bungalow only had a fan. It also turned out that we payed 30k more than a standard bungalow because we had a 'minibar'. Well, that minibar is an empty small fridge... which we turned off as we had nothing to cool. Breakfast, albeit a bit small is of good quality. Free coffee until the pot is empty... During both afternoons it rained heavily which resulted in power cuts, leaving the airco useless. A generator kicks in to supply the kitchen and wifi. The kitchen is quite good as in the second night we had diner there. The rain made it more or less impossible to go out. The bed in both rooms were small, with not very fit matrasses. During our whole trip in Colombia we only slepped in doubles that are maximum 140 cm wide. Why? Don't they make them any bigger here? 🤔"
La Rivera Playa Palomino ★★★
"Rooms were very clean with beautiful balcony view of the pool area, staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Recommend for those who want to relax and get away from the party music. We go every year and have stayed here since it opened 7 years ago. Breakfast was delicious."
Aite Eco Resort ★★★
"Staying at Aite was such an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, the staff was so wonderful and kind, going the extra step to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Waking up to the sound of birds and to an amazing view was a highlight every morning. The food was definitely a standout, with fresh juices (changed my meaning of what a juice is -- a must try!) , new fruits, and meals. The hotel had easy access to a pool that was perfect to cool off on a hot day and was connected to a beach as well, so you can take your pick."
Casa Dibulla Hotel Boutique ★★★
"This hotel, which is just literally over the road to the sea sports a cozy inner yard with two swimming pools and air conditioned rooms which all have a roof terrace where you can chill out during the days or when you are not in the sea or the pool. The food is incredibly good (heads up to the chef!) and the staff is extremely friendly. There are ample opportunities for sight seeing nearby, whether in Riohacha, Manaure or Cabo de la Vela. 100% recommendation!"
Casa del Pavo Real Boutique Hotel Yoga & Spa ★★
"The location was good, close to the beach but a bit far off from the centre. The food was good & affordable. Beds were incredibly comfy. Most of the staff were great. Very much like others have mentioned, it is very chill. I was travelling solo and met 2 other solo girls which made the experience even better. I was there for 2 nights and was upset that they didn't clean the shared washroom during that time and the dorm room doesn't lock."
