My spouse and I were on a road trip around North Dakota in August 2023 and spent a Saturday night at this Holiday Inn Express in Devils Lake. Overall, the hotel was okay... nothing too special. It was a bit of an older property but served its purpose for our night's stay. Our check-in process went okay, and our room (#225) was clean and comfortable (although a bit plain with little in the way of decorations). We had no problems during our stay. One thing we appreciated was being able to use the hot tub in the indoor pool area. That was nice. But one downside was that I sort of wanted to use the business center computer, but the key card did not work to get into that room. It wasn't a huge deal, and so I didn't mention anything about it to the front desk... but it would have been nice to know what was going on there. (Was the computer not working? Was it just a fluke with my key card?) Breakfast at the hotel didn't look all that exciting (or super appetizing) in the morning, so we just ate breakfast elsewhere. Not a big deal. We got a decent night's sleep at this hotel, which was important. If I ever find myself needing a place to stay in Devils Lake, I'd consider staying here again... but overall it's just an average hotel. (If I'd had the ability to give it a rating of 3.5 stars, I probably would have done that.)
