Parking was a lot easier than what you usually find in urban downtown hotels. Ten bucks a night directly across the street in a garage with plenty of availability. I was expecting a lot more hassle. We had an interior atrium room. I think the view would bother me if I was there long term, but for a night or two, it is nice because it is QUIET. People in downtown Des Moines seem to really enjoy taking the mufflers off their cars and gunning the engines, but we didn’t hear a thing from our room. The mattress and pillows were sumptuous. The blackout shades were very effective. I slept very well. Breakfast is surprisingly complimentary (again, unusual in a downtown luxury hotel). It was quite possibly the best hotel breakfast I have ever had in terms of variety. Whatever you want to eat, they have. There were a lot of coffee options besides the usual light and dark roast. The breakfast area was clean, and an attendant was monitoring the food. We needed to cancel a night, and the desk clerk was very gracious and polite. The Halloween decorations were macabre. I like Halloween just as much as anyone, but these had a Satanic vibe that creeped me out. I would usher any young children straight into the elevator, or you might have some trauma and drama. This was a minor issue and would not prevent me from staying here again.
