It can really be called a manor. It was the most surprising B&B in the entire self-driving journey. The yard is super huge with many fruit trees and flowers. We even picked peaches and grapes to eat. The house is also elegantly built in ******* style and the bedding is comfortable. There are a lot of dried fruits in the lobby, which are delicious! Breakfast is a combination of Chinese and *******, and the yogurt is especially delicious!
The proprietress and her family were very enthusiastic. Sister Zhamu sat in the yard and chatted with us after she was busy. The landlady's family moved from Niding Village. You can ask them to help contact Niding Village for the Baima Snow Mountain hiking route. Niding Village is really like a paradise.
The boss is very good, free upgraded river view room, you can see the green river directly on the balcony. In the evening, I was invited to eat the annual meal on the first day of the New Year. I was moved 😹. After the meal, I was taken to participate in their gathering with Tibetans. It was very local. Back on the big terrace at night, lying on the sofa and watching the stars, I learned to recognize Orion 😀
The room was large and clean, all new, the air conditioner was a cabinet, and the room was very warm.
I believe the garden below will be beautiful in summer, and there will be a swimming pool.

The travel-saving version: If you decide to come to Wunongding, Fansu is the most ”economical” choice.
The long-winded version:
1. First of all, why choose the latter between Feilai Temple and Wunongding.
Wunongding is farther away from the snow-capped mountains, you can see more of it, it looks more spectacular with a prospect, and it has a more ”primitive” feeling with fewer people and less business. This is indeed the case - you can't order takeout here.
2. Why choose Fansu among several homestays in Wunongding.
I have also thought about making up my mind and going down the mountain directly (not taking off my clothes). After all, it would be too much of a hassle to consider the cost-effectiveness after a trip to see the snow-capped mountains (it would be better to watch the live broadcast directly in Deqin Rong Media for the most cost-effectiveness). However, it must be admitted that the view depends very much on the weather. If the weather is not good, the location will be wasted. When it was basically determined that it would be cloudy on the day of check-in, I resolutely decided to reduce the budget... What's more, everyone's view at Wunongding is indeed similar. Let me talk about its advantages and disadvantages in detail:
(1) In terms of vision, you can see the whole snow-capped mountain in front (p1), but the foreground is relatively messy, with untidy small houses, railings and other homestays... You can see the White Horse Snow Mountain on the southwest side (p2, 3).
(2) In terms of facilities, it is indeed equipped with the configuration of an economy hotel. If you look at it by this standard, it is not bad. For example, the furniture is new (after all, it has just opened), and it is equipped with floor heating and oxygen machines (need to ask the front desk). However, the hot water in the water heater seems to be not very good!
(3) In terms of service, it provides pick-up and drop-off from Deqin County or Wunongding intersection (if you take a bus, you need to tell the driver in advance), and the owner drives an off-road vehicle to pick you up in person. The homestay has a yard (probably the only one in Wunongding). In the evening, everyone roasts potatoes and chats together. The atmosphere is very good (p4, 5). The owner is very friendly and enthusiastic. Other employees (Guizhou compatriots) said that they came to play with the owner. Since you are here to play, the service is indeed not as standardized as that of a hotel or a large homestay, but it also reduces the sense of distance. These can be regarded as differentiated competitive advantages.
A little surprise: the B&B is very close to a restaurant called Ye Xu (not a striptease restaurant). The restaurant is more centrally located, facing the main peak, with a more beautiful view (p6, how beautiful it must be when the peach tree in front is in full bloom). The food and environment are both excellent.

The room details are very exquisite, the facilities and equipment are first-class, and the hygiene is also very clean. The floor-to-ceiling glass window directly sees the whole view of Meili Snow Mountain. The front desk upgraded me from Yunling King Bed to Muyun King Bed. I was very surprised and happy 🫰
Service: All the staff are very careful and patient to provide us with high-quality services. I am very satisfied.
Of course, there are also shortcomings. I think the internal facilities of the hotel are perfect, but the greenery at the door of the room balcony is not worthy of it. It is overgrown with weeds and messy. I hope it can be improved.
The hotel is located in the core scenic area of Meili Snow Mountain, Misty Top observation platform. Designed by well-known domestic designers, the room faces the thirteen peaks of Meili Snow Mountain, and you can directly watch the most spectacular sunshine Jinshan in the hotel. The hotel adopts whole-house oxygen production equipment, whole-house floor heating, and whole-intelligent system to ensure the comfort and convenience of guests when enjoying the beautiful scenery. The hotel is equipped with a tea room, a coffee bar, a fireplace area and a library, as well as a large unobserved viewing platform on the top floor, making Meili a beautiful memory for you.

Wow, I saw a mountain of gold and silver here. I'm so lucky! It's my first time in Meili. The floor heating is very warm. Who knows? This is the warmest hotel in Shangri-La. The staff is very enthusiastic and passionate. The boss explained while looking at the gold mountain. Hahaha. Everything was arranged clearly from the day before, especially on the way there, he checked every half an hour to see where we were. I feel like you don't need to think about it when staying here. The boss will remind you when to get up to watch the sunrise and when to watch the moon. I have recommended it to my colleagues. Haha. It's really good!

We run a B&B ourselves, so we chose the hotel carefully. We were very satisfied with the experience after checking in. The location of the hotel is absolutely impeccable. Standing in front of the window, you can see the entire Meili Snow Mountain in one glance. The room is equipped with oxygen supply facilities, so that guests coming from low-altitude areas don’t have to worry about altitude sickness. We were extremely lucky the next day and witnessed the perfect process of the sun shining on the golden mountain. It was worth the trip!

The hotel is in an excellent location, the best choice for taking photos of Meili Snow Mountain in the Rise of the Golden Mountain. On the first day of Wunongding, there was heavy fog and I didn't see the Rise of the Golden Mountain. I decided to stay in this hotel for another night and finally took photos of the Rise of the Golden Mountain on the second day. Taking photos on the rooftop platform of the hotel is better than taking photos at the Wunongding Observation Deck, and there is a pool on the rooftop platform, which is very good for taking photos of the reflection of the snow mountain. The hotel is clean and the facilities are easy to use. The service staff is very enthusiastic but the service level needs to be improved. The breakfast set is good, especially the rice noodles taste very good, and the mushroom chicken soup for dinner is great.

Moju is not only a B&B, but also a youth hostel. The location is good, the view is good, the room facilities are complete, air conditioning, heating, oxygen machine and humidifier are included. It is relatively cost-effective in the foggy top area. There are also bad things, such as poor sanitation, moldy black spots on the bathroom wall and floor, and poor sound insulation. Because there are many people in the youth hostel, they talk loudly until 12 o'clock in the evening. The dog in the B&B keeps barking at 3 midnight and 5 am. Being woken up several times during one night is really unfriendly for people who have to drive the next day. As for service, there is basically none.
Environment: Full of design sense, all details are taken into consideration from the exterior architectural design to the interior design
Service: 1️⃣The front desk staff will very patiently introduce to you which ******* costumes are from which ******* area. This is a professional service that we have never encountered from Lijiang to Shangri-La
2️⃣ There is a professional tripod in the guest room, which fully considers that everyone stays in Wunongding for the consideration of Rizhao Jinshan
3️⃣ The service staff in the restaurant are all Guizhou girls who love Meili Snow Mountain. Although she has only been here for a few days, because of her love for this piece of landscape, the photos she took for the guests are warm
4️⃣ I chose Bodu this time because I hope to give myself a gift of Rizhao Jinshan on my birthday. The hotel also found birthday candles and birthday cakes made on the same day for me in Deqin (probably from a farther place), which is very touching
Good night drink: Every night is different, the first night is black sesame paste, and the second night is coconut milk red bean tortoise jelly
Facilities: 1️⃣ The toilet and bath are separated into dry and wet areas, and the lights are turned on at night
2️⃣The toiletries bag includes hand cream, steam eye mask and repair mask
3️⃣Although there is a reminder that the room does not have air conditioning, the floor heating is more comfortable and extends to the bathroom
The check-out staff will listen to the guests' feedback very patiently. I can feel that they really hope to keep improving. I look forward to coming back again

Shangri La, known as the "Shangri La" that people have been searching for, is located in Deqin, the hinterland of the "Three Parallel Rivers" in northwest Yunnan. It is an extremely important part of the "Shangri La" in Diqing, and a considerable part of the landscape is located in Deqin. The pyramid shaped snow capped mountains, the Moon Canyon, and the Feilai Temple, forming the "Meili Snow Mountain Scenic Area," have become a dazzling "pearl" in Yunnan's tourism crown. Deqin, translated as "extreme joy and peace" in Chinese, is known as the "holy land of snow" and the "hometown of song and dance".
In this beautiful and rare natural scenery, filled with culture and cultural landscapes, there is a great place to stay both physically and mentally: Jiatai Hotel.
Jiatai Hotel is located in Deqin County, 5 minutes' drive from the passenger station, 5 minutes' drive from Adunzi Ancient City, 6 minutes' drive from Gadan Deqinlin Temple, 10 minutes' drive from Foguangding, 12 minutes' drive from Qudeng Pavilion, 15 minutes' drive from Meili Snow Mountain or Feilai Temple, 20 minutes' drive from Xidang Village, and 30 minutes' drive from Yubeng Village. The transportation is convenient.
The hotel is equipped with over 80 mountain view rooms of various types, which were renovated and upgraded in August 2024, providing you with a more comfortable stay experience and higher quality service.
The hotel is equipped with a leisure bar, restaurant, foot bath, KTV, gym, conference room, parking lot, shuttle service, guest laundry center, and more than 70 additional free value-added services.
The hotel is built along the mountain, with year-round misty and beautiful scenery, like being in a fairyland. There is a great atmosphere of not daring to speak loudly and fearing to startle the heavens.
Jiatai Hotel eagerly awaits your arrival.

The hotel is very cost-effective, the room size is not small, the new hotel is clean, the key point is that this affordable hotel, the room is intelligent voice control, the experience is good. The customer service at the front desk was very good when I called them. The lobby is spacious and clean. What I am most satisfied with is that the service in the newly opened hotel is very warm. GGuest UserWhat can I say, Yeyu has simply got to be hands down, the best place that I have stayed in during my entire Yunnan trip. I am amazed and wasn't expecting it to be this great. I know the idea of staying in a luxury hotel doesn't seem to be something that goes hand in hand with hiking (I say this from my experience of having hiked in several other places before where the key highlight is the natural setting itself), but I have to say that it was really soothing for the soul. My girlfriend and I loved this place! The hotel is tastefully designed at every corner and angle and we can appreciate that a lot of creativity and thought was put into designing this place. The aesthetics is very pleasing to the eye and embraces the natural scenery really well. We also loved the homage it pays to the area's ******* roots such as the photographs displayed in the room (young ******* monks playing and the ******* gazelles in the bathroom) and also all the books about Tibet, Yunnan province that is in the library and living room space. The service provided by the staff was top notch, very attentive and caring. We were always asked if there's anything that the staff can do for us be it preparing a plate of fresh fruits, preparing some drinks for us when we were lounging at the living area and another completely unexpected one was when we returned from the Sacred Waterfall hike with our shoes filled with mud, the hotel staff kindly asked us to leave our shoes with him and it came back the next day fully cleaned, placed in front of our rooms. The lovely service provided was just simply amazing and for this, I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of the lovely staff at Yeyu who provided us with such a beautiful memory of our too brief stay here and thank you so much for the room upgrade. If I could organise this trip again, I would have liked to stay here much longer to be able to relax and enjoy the beauty of this place. Please believe me when I say that it is completely worth every yuan.
PS: Please note that there are two Yeyu Hotels in Yubeng, one near the pond and the other near the temple. We stayed at the one near the temple. Both of them are beautiful in their distinctive ways.
GGlobetrotter & HikerWe highly recommend staying in Yolo Guesthouse if you are staying overnight at Upper Yubeng Village. The owner and staff of the guesthouse was very friendly, helpful and informative throughout our stay.
We connected through WeChat prior to arrival and liaised with the guesthouse for transport from Lower Yubeng to upper Yubeng. The transport was included in the reservation. On arrival in the afternoon, the staff introduced and escorted us to a nearby restaurant for lunch even though it was drizzling.
The guesthouse is strategically located to have views of the valley downstream and upstream. The building structure is sturdy and well designed compared to many other accommodations in the villages. The interior of the room and the rooftop coffee bar is beautifully designed and clean. They also have Dyson hairdryer and Smeg electric kettle. Coffee at the rooftop bar was decent but it was accompanied by amazing views of the valley. We were the only ones at the rooftop bar after check in and we also had their in-house hotpot at night which we enjoyed.
Prior to departing for our day hike (Glacier lake from Upper Yubeng Village) the next day, the guesthouse even provided hiking poles, crampons, bottled water, Red Bull canned drinks and a homely ham and egg sandwich. We were also allowed to leave our bags stored with them as we had to check out in the late afternoon after returning from the hike. After checkout, the guesthouse also helped to call a vehicle to transport us down to lower Yubeng village.
We wished we had stayed here longer throughout our trip to Yubeng. We felt very welcomed and had a memorable stay. Thank you so much!
PPUI YINGThe space is more spacious than expected
It felt like I was back in my own country. The quilt was a little heavy, but we slept well.
The restaurant downstairs is delicious and suits our taste very well. We ate there for 2 nights in a row and it was raining after we finished eating.
The food in the restaurant is delicious, and the lady boss is very nice. Regarding the Coke I brought, I just asked if I got it here or if I brought it myself. There was no ill intention at all. I thought it was strictly forbidden to bring your own food.
The inn also has 12 cats, which are so cute. They have cat toys and electric blankets, which is really great in the countryside.
Will recommend it to friends who want to live in Shangyubeng
CClaudiaVERY DISAPPOINTING!
Overall: The inn is nice and confortable but the service is terrible. Service made us feel very unwelcome and ruined the experience.
Room: humble but comfortable room. You can ask for a heater, which is very needed in the winter months (we stayed here in late November). Be aware that some rooms are marked as “Mountain View” but in fact you’re in a covered area so won’t really have a view (pictures attached) - we booked one of these rooms but since it was low season we were lucky to get a free upgrade and get one of the few rooms with a nice view.
Cleanliness: the rooms are relatively clean, but we had a mouldy shower curtain (see pictures).
Amenities: the restaurant / front desk area is very nice and cosy.
Service: terrible! Every time we needed their assistance it felt as if we were disturbing them from sitting by the fire (even though they barely had any customers and it seemed as if they were not busy at all). We are international traveler’s that don’t speak Chinese and the service was unhelpful and not welcoming. We’ve had no issues anywhere else in our trip in China, this was definitely the worst we have experienced. After reading other reviews it seems that the boss is very helpful, but he wasn’t there when we stayed at the inn and it appears that the workers don’t do a good job when he is not around. The workers didn’t advise us that we needed crampons for one of the hikes we did (hikers from other inns told us that these were a must) so we had to reluctantly stay one more night to complete the hike.
When we booked another night, one service member told us a price and another service person told us a different (lower, almost 100cny lower) price. We were then charged the first (higher) price, which made us feel quite uncomfortable. The day after when we tried to rent crampons from the inn the lady told us that it was 20 cny to rent per day, and that in other places it was 40 cny per day. We decided not to rent them because they looked in very bad condition. We later found out that you can buy them brand new at “meets meili snow mountain” for 35cny and use them for the 2 hikes. We also had to rent hiking poles even though they provide them for free at the hotel given that the ones they had didn’t look in good condition and weren’t tall enough for us (the lady at the desk got frustrated with us because of this).
Overall, very unhelpful, impatient service - we felt extremely uncomfortable because of it. If you’re an international traveller and don’t speak much Chinese stay away!!
Food: was good but small portions compared to other places. We ended up eating most of our meals elsewhere because the service made us feel very unwelcome. Limited breakfast options, there’s many more options at “meets meili snow mountain”.
GGuest UserOne of the highlights of the B&B is the large viewing platform, with the Lancang River flowing through it on the right. On the left, you can see Kawagebo Peak, the main peak of Meili Snow Mountain. The viewing platform is surrounded by vibrant vineyards, making staying in this B&B feel like being in a manor.
The second highlight of the B&B is that the room is spacious, clean, the supplies are new and clean, and the internet speed is very fast.
The third highlight of the B&B is that it has a kitchen, which can be used for free. The bath water is large and hot, and it also provides purified water.
I was very impressed by the kind and friendly owner.
GGuest UserYourland Hotel is run and operated by a very hard working lady who essentially does everything herself - from welcoming guests, cooking breakfast, cleaning the rooms and washing the bed sheets & laundry. The rooms are very clean and neatly organised, it has all the comforts that any hiker should need in such a remote location that is high up in the mountains (e.g. electric blankets, warm showers, etc.) Please do note that the warm water does need sometime to reheat especially if another guest takes a shower right away after the first guest. It will not be sufficient time for the water heating machine to heat the water. You should take note of the number that is displayed on the water heater. By default in our room, it showed the number of 44 and after the first guest took the shower, it went down to 19. If someone takes a shower right away at that moment, it will be cold so the next person should wait a bit until the number displayed moves up.
The views in the morning are amazing as you can see the mountain ranges on three different sides so you get a very good panoramic view from the terrace of the hotel. After a long day of hiking, our moods were lightened up when we were welcomed by the friendly and playful Labrador Retriever whose name is Dou Dou. Such a lovely dog <3. I would recommend you to stay here if you are looking for a place to stay in Upper Yubeng, it's good base for your planned hikes to the Glacier Lake and Nise Ranch. The place might be a bit difficult to locate if you arrive in Yubeng late at night (like we did since we walked all the way from Ninong, which was really tiring), but once you get the gist of it, it's very easy to remember and locate.
GGuest UserThis hotel offers the best view of Kawa Karpo in the Felaisi area. You can even admire the mountains right from your bed.
The modern, clean rooms are well-equipped with everything you might need, including a telescope for stunning scenery up close.
The staff was exceptionally friendly, and I especially want to express my sincere gratitude to a female receptionist whose name, unfortunately, I didn’t catch. As non-Chinese speakers, we needed assistance to catch a bus to Ninong. She not only escorted us to the bus stop but also spoke to the driver to ensure we got seats. As the bus passed by, she stood at the hotel door, waving goodbye—a gesture that truly touched us.
AAnonymous UserKim’s Youth Hostel is located in the backyard of Lower Yubeng and offers private ensuite rooms with basic shower amenities. It is about 5 mins walk to the main stretch of restaurants and shops at Lower Yubeng and 10mins walk to the transport pickup area (to Upper Yubeng/ Ninong Village). The room offers some views of the valley but is partially obstructed by buildings in front of it.
Breakfast starts after 7.30am but our plans started earlier. We didn’t get the breakfast but chose to buy a 35rmb sandwich instead. The accommodation does not provide bottled water. Instead, there is a filtered water dispenser at the lobby/dining area to refill your bottles.
GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is amazing. Rooms have good equipment and the floor heating works very well. The breakfast variety and quality is also good.
Unfortunately dinner is too expensive and there are better restaurants nearby
GGuest UserClearly the best hotel around. The service is good, the people managing the hotel are all very nice. The food is very good, definitely take you breakfast there ! Also I prefer down village than upper village. The price is very low, so this is the best option
