We ( group of 5 school friends) visited the Glenville forest resort and spa this Sunday for a night spend. Our bookings were made through Agoda and we received a confirmation mail from the same. We also called for a confirmation and we’re told to expect a callback. On arrival the manager told us that they have not received any confirmation from agoda and we had not even called for confirming. The rooms were allotted to us finally after providing proofs. The numbers available on the net are not that of the reception and are answered by people who are clueless. The property is beautiful in itself and a break from the not so pleasant surroundings. The drive is through the busy markets but once you reach the property, you are completely disconnected from the outside. The name is slightly misleading since we booked reading that they have a spa but we were told later that the sa has been shut down. The rooms are well maintained, spacious and have a soothing ambience. The cottages are beautiful. Some basic things that we missed in the rooms were the mini fridge ( considering the fact that there serving time is very limited) and a full length mirror ( the place is popular for weddings). The outdoors are well maintained with a nice and prim garden and outdoor seating. The pool area has three pools of different depths but they looked abandoned. We requested them to clean the kids pool to be able to sit ther for a while. Coming to the food, we ordered an Indian meal ***** with some noodles. The Indian preparation were quite nice though they take very long to serve. We did not like the noodles and so decided to stick to only Indian for the future meals. We ordered the chicken changezi and soya champ masala ***** with vegetable raita, garlic naan , mirchi paranthas and butter naan. The parantha were slightly undercooked. The dal makhni, paneer butter masala, tandoori chicken, paneer tikka, hara Bhara kebab and honey chilli potatoes we ordered for snacks and dinner were all good. Breakfast was disappointing. The stuffed paranthas were like tandoori paranthas with a garnish of boiled potatoes. Also that they don’t start serving before nine o clock and also close down too early. The staff asked us to have our food early because they sleep by 10 which was a put off since we wanted to hang around longer. Do not expect any room service. The staff is very casual. The restaurant does not have a very pleasing ambience and most of the time we came here, the staff was found lazing on the sofas with the phones. Also they do not believe in clearing tables once the guests have finished eating. Ram, the one person is a new staff was seen running around for everything. He tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible for us. All in all, property is being wasted due to inefficient staff.
