Hua Lu (Lost in Nature) Hotel My wife and I stayed here for three nights in December 2023, but regretted that our schedule did not allow us to stay longer. The Hua Lu Hotel is a charming boutique hotel located in the Ming Shi village that features clusters of needle mountains that aggressively protrude from what otherwise appears to be a level agricultural plain. The origins of the village were for its farming potential but the stunning beauty of the location has popularized it as a tourist haunt, a place to visit either before or after checking out the Detian Waterfall on the China-Vietnam border. In among the locals’ modest houses, several B&Bs and hotels have sprouted to cater to tourists wanting a wide spectrum of accommodations from the extremely basic up to relatively high-end resorts. The Hua Lu (Lost in Nature) is best categorized as a high-end boutique hotel. It is situated on the eastern periphery of Ming Shi well away (approximately a kilometer) from a busy highway around which many of its competitors are clustered. The accent at the Hua Lo is on tranquility. Our room was a well-conceived suite that had been furnished with a Zen sensibility. The bathroom featured an oversize bathtub and separate shower unit, and there was a spacious and comfortable sitting area. A south-facing balcony overlooked an intensely cultivated, multi-acre market-garden, irrigated by river-fed, man-made channels. Locals could be observed tending crops from dawn to dusk in these fields. A Chinese style breakfast was included the room fee, but we also opted to eat dinner each evening in the hotel restaurant. Both breakfast and dinner meals were prepared with an accent on health and use of locally grown foods. After dark, an open fireplace in a courtyard was used to barbecue snacks such as sweet potato and chicken: the courtyard doubled as a children’s play area and storage place for bicycles (pedal) which could be used by hotel guests. Evidence suggests that tourism has trumped agriculture as the main occupation of the Ming Shi village. For tourists who prefer a more communal experience, the village offers guided sampan tours on the river that wends its way through the village. However, the best way to benefit from the village scenery is by bicycle. Cycling around the village and its dramatic needle-mountain vistas is easy, the bike trails are converted ag paths that intertwine the crop fields. They are paved and free of the traffic of tourist coaches, trucks and E-scooters that rage along the main highway. My wife and I felt that we had come across a gem of experience that vastly exceeded our expectations when we booked the hotel. We plan to visit again next year, to enjoy a longer stay with the R&R it provides. Sean Bennett

The room is in a good location, with a good view and convenient travel. It is not far from the scenic spot. The service provided by the inn lady is also very good. The breakfast is also rich. But the only drawback is that there is no sound insulation at all, which is very noisy. Because there are fields around, there are frogs croaking all the time. And you can hear the people talking downstairs very clearly. If you are more concerned, you should choose carefully.

This was one of the best place I’ve stayed in China. The room is cute, comfy and clean! And nothing is better to wake up with the mountains that characterize Guangxi province in the morning. Also the staff is very kind and they help us for the covid test and also to rent some e-bikes that we use around the village. highly recommend to stay here!

I came to the border town and booked a love house. It was a very good hotel. There was an elevator to go up and down. The boss also gave a free upgrade to the double room. The window was Vietnam 🇻🇳 and it was equipped with a dryer. Like, the room was clean and warm, and the boss also informed the travel guide. (Want to ask the boss WeChat) I will stay here next time.

The hotel is very close to the gate of Detian Waterfall Scenic Area. The hotel facilities cannot be compared with those of restaurants in the city, but they are still good in this scenic area. There is a restaurant next to it for dining. You can drive here by yourself. There is a paid parking lot. Stay for one night and you can go to Detian Waterfall Scenic Area the next morning. The hotel owner can buy tickets for you, but you need to register the night before.

I also stayed at this hotel last time I came to travel. This time I took my friends out to travel after the National Day. This hotel is at the entrance of the scenic spot. The front desk lady is very enthusiastic and the service attitude is very good. I also help buy tickets for the scenic spot. I have to answer all questions. It is not too happy to travel on holidays! I recommend this hotel!

這家酒店真的超出我的預期。原本對在深山裡的小鎮子的酒店不抱希望的，結果衞生卻出乎意料的好。房間全是實木風格，椅子都是百分百原木做的，挪了一下超級重。前台也是巨大的實木桌，光看前台以為是賣茗茶的😂。 房間的設施比較新，最重要的是非常乾淨，床品也明顯是新換的。衞生間設施比房間好像老舊一些，不過熱水正常，水壓也不錯，也配備了一次性馬桶圈。 老闆推薦的餐廳要排太久的隊我們就沒吃回來了，感覺別的餐廳不靠譜，於是就在酒店吃了。味道也不錯，不踩坑，用餐環境也不錯。 總之在小鎮子有這樣一家環境乾淨，設施比較新，水壓水温和空調設備都好用的酒店真的很滿足了。自駕門口還有免費停車位，真八錯～

I stayed here for 2 nights and it was exactly what I was looking for. My room had a panoramic window view of the mountains outside, and the hotel roof terrace is really nice too! Clean bathroom and western toilet. It was a great location for the Mingshi Scenic Area, and about 45 min drive from the Detian Waterfall area. The hotel helped me arrange a driver to take me to Detian and were very friendly. There are several local restaurants around to eat at, plus a Vietnamese coffee shop just 5 minutes walk away. Only downside is the walls are pretty thin and you can hear other people. But overall, it was clean, a good price, and convenient for my travels in Mingshi.

The environment is average, just like an ordinary farmhouse hotel. Of course, the service is very good. Even if the hotel's hair dryer breaks, it can be delivered in time. If you come to Detian Waterfall, you have to stay here to get to the scenic spot early, so there is nothing you can do. Overall, it is okay. , the surrounding environment is also like this

The boss is very good, can help arrange food and play, can get along like a friend, and affordable, the holiday is not very exaggerated price increase, the nearby attractions are not far away, the road scenery is very good, there is a chance to come again.
