The location was outstanding and we were greeted by welcoming and efficient staff. Our room was very well appointed with every need covered for both humans and dogs. We dined in the Zephyr Restaurant which continued the vibe of a smart casual coastal setting which Devon does so well. The menu offered a good variety and the food was delicious. Breakfast catered for every appetite and the emphasis was on a comfortable and relaxed experience. An extremely enjoyable visit which we hope to repeat.

Our stay was very relaxing, easy parking right outside the hotel, quick check in process and shown to our room. Lovely room with a wonderful view of the river. Breakfast was great and all made to order. Staff were friendly and helpful when explaining where we needed to get to for our planned day trip. It was helpful they had some local knowledge. Would love to stay again sometime.

We stayed for our wedding anniversary. The room, bathroom and balcony were absolutely stunning. The staff were really attentive and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. We opted for breakfast in our room which was amazing overlooking the river. Beds were so comfortable. We will definitely be back! Tracey and Roger x

Perhaps my expectations were too high? The property is perfectly adequate and well positioned on the Dart near the higher ferry (yes, you will hear it early in the morning and well into the evening.) My room had a balcony and it would have been grand to enjoy breakfast there, if my breakfast had been delivered when ordered (it didn't show up at all and there was no attempt to make that right.) Subsequently, down to the restaurant I trotted each morning after that snafu where the waitstaff managed to get every single order wrong (several times over each day, apparently for the win) and, on one unfortunate day, loudly dropped a big tray of dirty dishes and glasses to send the shards far-and-wide. Topping off this ambiance was a surly young lady sitting at the front desk who screamed like a fishmonger when she needed to deliver a message, which was certainly a new experience for me. On a positive note, the shower in the room was grand and the location is a quick walk into Dartmouth.

Neither comfortable nor quiet! Our room apparently had staff accommodation above (we were on the second floor and saw no customer stairs going up!). The floorboards creaked and groaned at all hours of the night/early morning! The food was good, but service charges to get your own drinks from the bar!! The bed wasn’t a double/king etc but two singles together; and both were lumpy. The restaurant seating is atrocious, one side of “every" table is too low…. The older restaurant area is now mostly unused???? Lastly… the “mood” music is dire! I left a feedback card, along with e-mail address but no contact!!

Returned for another stay, the location, rooms and staff are all as good as ever, thankfully. However, the restaurant has of course been changed and is currently half the size it was. This results in an area too small for the number of guests using it. It ends up noisy, and some areas, particularly the centre carousel type arrangement means diners are shoulder to shoulder, and we saw quite a few guests reject the offer of seating there and going elsewhere outside the main restaurant to eat in some cases, or moving tables when one of the few slightly more spaced out tables became available. Zephyr is simply too small, but is apparently going to be extended we are told??. Also check your booking, I booked for dinner when I made the room reservation and emailed a few weeks before arrival to check all bookings has been transferred from the previous River Restaurant and was assured they had. Arrived on first night, not booked in, so produced my email confirmation to prove, then some further confusion and an eventual acceptance that we were indeed booked in !!. Breakfast on the balcony, if weather permits is a good option to avoid Zephyr. No extra charge for that and no 12.5% service charge as is the case with dinner, although it is optional whether to pay it. The closed off remains of the River Restaurant lies idle, not making any money! and would surely be better off fully converted to Zephyr, to space everything out. From talking to reception there was clear awareness that there has been quite a bit of feedback about the restaurant, so we are not alone. Whether we return again likely depends on more spacing out, it's a good job we don't have social distancing as such at the current time!.

Not very happy with performance of assistant manager after my wife suffered severe stomach upset after eating a meal in the restaurant. NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED with the revamped dining area looks like something from the jungle and nothing to do with the seaside, dank, gloomy looking

First class stay. Lovely clean room with estuary views. Complimentary fresh milk in the mini fridge. The room was cleaned and tidied everyday during our stay. The restaurant has good quality tasty food. Breakfasts unusual in not having a self serve area but you soon get use to that and there are plenty of staff on hand to bring you what you want. A little disconcerting to have a service change on the restaurant bill when you are on the DBB package but this must be the modern way of things? As is the online check in and check out procedure modern, this takes away a more personal service but I assume it somehow keeps the already high cost of a stay from going even higher.

Was very impressed with the basic room which had a river view, the service was excllent and we found all the staff very attentive and customer focused. After a day on the river Dart if you don't want to walk round the town to find somewhere to eat we would recommend the restaurant, good food, and again excellent service. All in all a very good find and we will be going again.
