WARNING!!! Hotel pictures look good, but our room looked like a twenty year old version with no pictures or bedspreads, just a quick paint job over previously chipped paint and mystery stains. Several roaches and small black flies throughout the stay (pre-purchased 3 nights, totaling 420+ for the stay with fees and taxes. Lowest was around $90, highest was $130+, same room for the stay) Pool inoperative throughout stay, chained and locked closed. Appears the staff claims it is being fixed, but other reviews months back have the same claim. Pool water this color is not appealing looking, anyway! Since the pool was out, we took the kids to Dania Beach, where parking is an hourly charge. Try going a little further south (Hollywood Beach) or north (Ft. Lauderdale) for wider beaches with more amenities. High tide eats up 95% of the Dania beach. No towels were exchanged nor were the beds made during our stay. Never a knock at the door for housekeeping. When I politely walked up to two ladies with a cart after the second night, the one employee told me the other was off the clock (at 10 AM?). Less than friendly, almost hostile. I suppose they didn't want to be bothered. I went to Wal-Mart near Hollywood FL to buy the toilet paper. Trash was never taken out by housekeeping any time during our stay. I bagged it myself and took it out so our "take out food" wasn't feeding the roaches. This explains the trash in the hallways. This is my first experience in a motel with MANY permanent residents. Section 8 housing or similar is why the small hotel rooms are set up as a mini-home with beach chairs or camp chairs, fridges and portable cooking stoves. Our neighbor had her door open much of the time, and I have never seen a Hotel or Motel room that it is personalized and has so much clothing that looks like someone's home. Loud conversations at night that focused on arguments and yelling/cursing did not help us feel safe. Please read other reviews for other Motel 6 customer opinions. I would not bring my children back (prepaid for the three days), but they did ask what the people were smoking outside. You guessed it, hanging out smoking ****. I guess Motel 6 is educational, my kids are learning about personal choices. The keys to our room stopped working each day, but after seeing the pattern, we just made sure we were back while still light out before the office was locked. You ARE saving money here, but we didn't feel safe enough to simply walk to the car (after dark) when at item was forgotten. We did without it. And you will likely do better without this Dania Beach Motel 6. At least you are warned. If you DO go, be sure to park under a light. Check twice to be sure both your room door and your car doors are locked. Bottom line: The trip was good, the hotel was not good, and I'm glad I'm sleeping safe at home.
