The location of the B&B is right by the Erhai Lake, close to the Xizhou Ancient Town. The environment is clean and warm. It is the solid wood style I like, with some ethnic elements. It is also very quiet. There is a large restaurant. The most important thing is that the aunt who runs the B&B is very quiet and enthusiastic to the guests. She helps to unpack the luggage, sees us eat takeout, makes tea for us, and eats fruit. It is very warm.
Just standing by the Erhai Lake, watching the sunrise, watching the seagulls and sea ducks, watching a crescent moon hanging in the sky, and the people doing morning exercises, listening to the echo of the waves hitting the shore, it is really very healing, enough to comfort the messy life that follows. The overall style is more Japanese and simple. It is close to Xizhou, so it is quiet and less crowded. There are not many people passing by the ecological corridor in the off-season. It is just far from the ancient city. I like the style of the B&B. I also like the books of Alain de Botton. The boss lady also makes hand-washing on the first floor. Guests can get a discount when they order coffee. It is so quiet and I like it. The toiletries are also good and smell good. I just don’t see an exhaust fan in the bathroom. I was a little worried about the odor at first. Later I found that it was okay and it didn’t seem to affect me. The boss is not at the B&B 24 hours a day. If you come back too late, you have to be careful. You may not be able to find someone right away.

I originally booked two nights and stayed for another night. During the four days and three nights in Xizhou, every meal was eaten at the restaurant of Xilinyuan. This year's New Year's Eve dinner was also eaten at Baocheng Mansion. The restaurant is highly recommended! Snow sand milk fan, fried chicken with bait, steamed chicken, and chestnut beef brisket are all delicious! Both Yang Pinxiang Mansion and Baocheng Mansion are delicious! The menus of the two restaurants are different! Baocheng Mansion restaurant is very convenient, just next to the central Sifang Street and next to Yan's Courtyard. I stayed in the first-floor room on the first day and the family room on the second floor for the next two days. Although it is an ancient building, the water temperature is very good and hot! It is not cold even with the air conditioner turned on, and hot milk was delivered at night, which is very comfortable. The rooms on the first floor can definitely hear some noise from upstairs because they are old houses, but it is okay, not serious. The hotel's cultural activities are also well arranged. This time, I participated in the activities of making dragon lanterns and writing Spring Festival couplets to worship the main god on New Year's Eve, the activities of explaining ancient buildings on the first day of the first ***** month and the activities of dragon dancing on the second day of the first ***** month. Keep in mind these aspects of you consider loft room.
Despite of all good reviews, this hotel won't suit needs of every traveler. If you are the one who prefers silence and comfort, this place is not for you. Especially for the loft room. Entrance to the room is located right in reception desk area. When you go in our out of your room, you may see people sitting nearly next to your door. Sense of privacy is compromised. It's like you're leaving public toilet in the lobby of any office area. Not to mention that other guests will be having breakfast right there.
Bedroom in the loft has a wooden ceiling bar, and if you're 180 cm and above, you're most likely to hit it with your head if you're are to go downstairs at night.
The hand rail on the stairs was wobbly.
At Winter it is cold, and there is no conditioner downstairs, heater barely works. But still better than nothing. Heater at bathroom did not work at all.
Apart from that, it is a unique place. Super friendly owners. The room has awesome couch to sit on, and large modern TV. The room has plants, and this is something I have never seen after being many years in China. Authentic decoration elements is something to appreciate as well.

We really liked the Jinxiayuon Inn. It is built in Chinese style. It is obvious that a good designer worked on its design. The doors of the rooms on the first floor overlook a beautiful courtyard garden, the second floor - an open gallery with a beautiful view of the mountains. We enjoyed sitting at a table on the gallery in the evenings, drinking tea and admiring the surrounding scenery. The rooms have everything you need for life (we only lacked hangers for clothes). The hotel staff worked well and helped us with everything (carried heavy suitcases from the taxi to the hotel upon arrival; ordered oxygen when my daughter developed ”mountain sickness”; helped order a taxi upon departure (the cost of a taxi to the Dali railway station is about 100 yuan, it takes 30-40 minutes on an open road, that is, early in the morning and 1:30 - 1:45 on a busy road, that is, during the day).
Breakfasts at the hotel are very simple: soup or noodles, boiled chicken egg, two slices of local flatbread ”Baba”, part of a glove of corn. I would like to wish the hotel management to work on improving breakfasts.

Thank you to Brian, Jeanne and the team, including Shirley who gave us a warm welcome and a wonderful stay. The Linden Center in Xizhou is a fascinating and wonderful place to visit and stay. Learn about the history of the house and local area. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The food is excellent, choose to eat on the restaurant, the relaxing bar or the gorgeous terrace overlooking the green paddy fields and mountains. Take the morning market tour and be guided around Xizhou with it’s beautiful architecture and friendly people. We actually didn’t go very far this trip as we just enjoyed relaxing in the linden center courtyards, our kids also especially enjoyed the playroom. We absolutely loved our stay and will be back to visit the other Linden Centers.

GGuest UserI think this is a really nice hotel and the people are very willing to help you. Breakfast is not a choice, but there is so much good food that comes on a tray. It's a walkable area but the area is incredibly expensive for China. If you're an expat, You should know some things...like 1st of all it's incredibly far from the train station about an hour and a 1/2. Secondly I don't think that the price for the queen suite is fair. I don't know what I can say but it was more expensive than a 4 mandarin grand carlton in other areas of China. While it was nice, the price doesn't reflect what you get. I'd stay here again, for sure, if I was going back to the area, but I would book one of their cheaper rooms. Service was great, but we got here (yes they tried to contact me in advance, but I don't speak much Chinese) and it was quite a puzzle in figuring how to get to the actual hotel. Luckily someone from another hotel was able to help. Once they knew we were here, they shuttled our luggage to the hotel and carried it to our rooms. The people working here are wonderful, but the area is very expensive and room prices for the queen suite are WAY more than you will get elsewhere in China.

The flowers in the yard are beautiful, and the sea view is unbeatable! I stayed here for another night and saw the sunrise, rainbow, and the full moon over Erhai Lake at night without leaving the house. It was really worth the trip! The breakfast was delicious, and it tasted even better with such a scenery! The boss and the housekeeper were very kind. They helped us contact a chartered car when we left for Lijiang! The kittens are also very cute and photogenic!

Coco went way beyond her responsibilities to meet our requests and even offer more than what we asked for. She always reponded to our weChat text very quickly. Coco really deserves to be rewarded. It reflects a good culture in the hotel as other staff are also very helpful. It really made our stay in Dali memorable. Location of the hotel is also very good; just opposite the cruise terminal and a short walk to many restaurants. The view of the lake from the room is really nice. Breakfast is also good and extensive. If I ever visit Dali again, I will surely stay at Pullman again, and look for Coco.

Breakfast is a traditional Chinese breakfast with noodles and various dim sum. It was refreshing coming back in the evenings to a small snack from the hotel that generally included warm milk and fresh fruit. The bed is very comfortable. The owner and staff and very kind and will help you to the best of their abilities. I would highly recommend this hotel.

RrobynwhaleyThis hotel is more like a flat, it's in a block of flats meaning cars can't pick you up from the door, you have to walk outside of the community. The view is gorgeous and the hotel will pick you up from the railway station and guide you to your room. It's on the opposite side of the lake to the attractions, which we didn't mind as it was nice and quiet and gives you a different view of the lake. The room is decorated with a lot of tacky toys, literally Teddy bears on the bed like a child's room, if they were gone it would be nicer.
