Daintree Crocodylus

Daintree Crocodylus ★★

📍 Lot 5 Buchanan Creek Road, Cow Bay

"I stayed in this eco friendly accommodation with my FNQ family and we spent a lovely night eating and enjoying games whilst listening to the birds on dusk. In the morning, after a good nights sleep in accommodation in the middle of the Daintree rain forest, I could hear the birds waking up at the start of the day when the sun was rising. I walked to Cow Bay Beach and saw the sun as it rose across the water, and then I walked back listening to the birds singing their songs."

Daintree Eco Lodge ★★★★

📍 3189 Mossman Daintree Rd, Daintree

"Great echo Lodge nestled in the rain forest. We stayed in a canopy treehouse with a a view over the greenery. Nice atmosphere with all the sounds of the forest and of course a chance of rain… Great location for a boat tour on the river and a visit to the Daintree discovery center."

Noah Creek Eco Huts ★★★

📍 Noah Creek Rainforest Reserve 3017 Cape Tribulation Road, Thornton Beach

"Stunning setting. Well equipped cabin (we had one of the larger ones suitable for couple with one child) - our own camp kitchen, outdoor bathroom and veranda. Very comfortable. Owner lovely and informative. The main point of coming here is the natural setting and land you have access to. Swimming in the creek is fabulous and walks exploring the rainforest on the doorstep are terrific. Worth going on a guided night walk to see nature plus a trip to reef. You’re in nature with this so if you freak over seeing a spider (harmless) and don’t like being woken by a cacophony of birdlife this isn’t for you."

Heritage Lodge - in the Daintree

Heritage Lodge - in the Daintree ★★★

📍 236 Turpentine Rd, Diwan

"We came here for part of our honeymoon and my husband and I really loved our time here! Such a beautiful and peaceful spot. Good central location to all the fun things Cape Tribulation has to offer. There is no wifi in the cabins but we made use of the DVD player and wifi in the restaurant area. I’m vegan and there were only a couple options at the restaurant for me, would have eaten there more had there been more options. The only thing we wished the room had was a microwave to heat up leftovers. Other than that it was a great part of our honeymoon experience!"

Daintree Manor B&B
9.4 (34 reviews)

Daintree Manor B&B ★★★

📍 122 Forest Creek Rd, Forest Creek

"Excellent welcome, presentation of the house, room, garden…. Equipped with panels for hot water and natural water reservation, everything is respectful of nature. And what about breakfast: great. However, remember to bring something to prepare your other meals when you have a baccalaureate, it is difficult to find something"

Daintree Wilderness Lodge
9.1 (76 reviews)

Daintree Wilderness Lodge ★★★

📍 1780 Cape Tribulation Rd, Diwan

"We spent two nights in the Daintree area, staying one night at Daintree Wilderness Lodge and one night at Cape Trib Beach House. They offered two very different experiences, but together they made a great combination. Daintree Wilderness Lodge has a boutique feel with a more romantic and luxurious atmosphere. Being completely surrounded by the Daintree rainforest makes it a very special place to stay. Waking up amongst the trees and wildlife was an experience in itself. The cabins were fully equipped, and featured lots of natural light. One tip: bring a sleeping mask if you don't want to wake up with the sunrise! The staff were friendly and went out of their way to provide helpful suggestions on places to visit and things to do in the area, which we really appreciated. For us, it was the perfect place to spend a night and experience the rainforest in comfort. A memorable stay and something quite different from your average hotel."

Daintree Crocodylus ★★
"Three days here was the highlight of my trip. Lovely peaceful setting and the people who run the place were lovely. Good coffee, I didn't end up eating any of the cafe food but heard only good things. There's a small pool, large covered common area and a pretty well equipped self catering kitchen. They make it very clear in the pre booking info this isn't the place if you're looking for aircon and being insulated from the jungle, but the cabins are airy and I didn't find it too hot at all, also not many mosquitoes around when I was there in mid november. You will be treated to a nocturnal chorus of jungle noises so bring ear plugs if you're keen for a peaceful night! 10/10 would stay there again."

"Fantastic place to stay. Brilliant location with easy access to Cape Tribulation. Beautiful setting right in the middle of the rainforest. One of the most unique stays with the benefit of being able to hear the sounds of the rainforest right in your room. The staff were super friendly and gave really helpful advice about things to do in the area. Would highly recommend"

"Unbelievable experience, tucked in the jungle surrounded by beauty..really beautiful and accommodating owners of the property, and can see the hard work they have put in to accomplish what they have to offer, walking trails, knowledge, bird life/sounds. Not to far from Port Douglas and the reef at your feet.. Accomodation is super comfortable and shower facilities on another level.. Great holiday and kids were blown away"

Heritage Lodge - in the Daintree ★★★
"We stayed two nights in the family cabin here. We made the mistake of arriving after dark so it was a bit tricky finding the cabin, not to mention the dark windy road to get out to the hotel after crossing on the ferry. It would have been a little more peaceful to arrive before sunset. We thought it was fun they handed us a torch and an umbrella upon checking in. The cabin was large with high ceilings and was very clean without any flying or crawling bugs. There was AC which worked very well and a ceiling fan. We could hear the rain all night which was great. There were flowers and trees and a great atmosphere. Plenty of hot water in the shower, plus tea making things, a table, a small porch you could sit outside and drink your tea. Lovely experience! We were 3 and had plenty of space. We went on the trails outside to the streams although did not swim there. There was a small pool which we did not try. The breakfast that was included was very good and was bread, fruit and yogurt. They also offered scrambled eggs and bacon and other things for additional cost which was very convenient. The coffee in the restaurant was good. There was wifi in the restaurant area but not in the cabin so you could loiter at the restaurant tables if you needed to use wifi. They also had lots of books on the local area and all the tourist brochures for planning your activities. It was very convenient to travel to Cape Tribulation and to the boardwalks in the area from this hotel. Overall it was a delightful experience and I would definitely recommend it. It was really great to go on the boardwalks and explore the area and not have to leave at night. We really enjoyed the restaurant at this hotel also. So nice to be in the rainforest!"

Daintree Wilderness Lodge ★★★
"There aren't many places you can stop in a pristine rainforest in a luxury suite. This is one of them. High quality rooms, nicely decorated, clean and well kept. There are only 7 or so "rooms", each separated by rainforest and accessed from the reception area by a boardwalk. If you are visiting outside of the wet then great for stargazing, in the wet you will be glad of the aircon. Lots and lots of bugs, but then its the rainforest. You will need a strong repellent when out of the room. There isn't much in the way of public area, the restaurant is about it. The restaurant is good but not, I thought, as good as "On the Turps", my roo was well on the rare side and I heard other guests complain about it. Last sitting in the restaurant for dinner was 18:45, a bit early I thought. There is a small selection of DVDs at reception and a DVD player in the room, there isn't any TV reception in the rooms and no WiFi, the mobile signal is pretty ropey as well. All that said, you are enjoying high-class food and drink in the middle of the rainforest; you are hardly slumming it. All in all, recommended but it depends on what you prioritise. I thought the rooms at the Wilderness Lodge were better than at the Heritage Lodge but the food at the Heritage Lodge was better (the "On the Turps" restaurant. Things you should know about the rooms: very nice, but there is a clear strip in the roof, when the sun is up, so will you be. The showers have a large, clear window that overlooks the rainforest - no one can see you, but some people will find that unnerving. You don't really need a torch to move about the boardwalks, but it would be helpful - but note that you become a magnet for any mozzies. You won't be wandering the rainforest after dark in the wet. Would I go back? Yes, I would but maybe more prepared."

"Things started off a bit poorly as google maps tried to send us via the CREB 4WD track, but once we figured out there was a ferry that cut off about 4 hours of travel we were on our way. The chalet we had was clean and tidy and suited us just fine. Greg (host) provided us with home cooked meals (with the help of his wife Lisa) at night, and a two course breakfast in the morning. We had a couple of cold beers each night and enjoyed Greg’s stories of his time working in remote parts of the world. We also didn’t mind his direct view of world affairs. We would definitely return if in the Daintree area again."

"We stayed at Jodie and Dean's largest bungalow and without a doubt would give it 5 out of 5. Plenty of space, spotlessly clean but the best part was that every detail had been thought of - comfortable seats and sofa and such a well equipped kitchen. The shower was fantastic. We loved the veranda at the front where you could sit and watch the sun go down - comfy chairs to sit in with a insect spray helpfully provided. Jodie and Dean were super friendly and helpful. Wished we'd booked a longer stay!"
