Toyoko-Inn Daegu Dongseongro

This Japanese-style hotel in Korea offers slightly larger rooms than what you'd typically find in Japan, and the breakfast was better than expected. It's located a bit outside Daegu city center but still conveniently close to a subway station. The front desk is on the seventh floor, and overall, it offers good value for money.

The room was tiny, and no one cleaned it for the five days I stayed. On top of that, the toilet was clogged.

Many people stay at this hotel on their first day, and I'm no exception, as they have a dedicated WOWPASS machine right on the lobby floor. The room size is typical for the brand – small, but it has everything you need. I'd recommend it to anyone arriving in Daegu for the first time.

The soundproofing is terrible. I could hear everything from the next room at night – people walking, showering, and talking – which really affected my sleep. The bathroom drainage was also bad; the whole bathroom would fill with suds after a shower.

This quick hotel brand is from Japan, and I've stayed at many of their properties there over the past two decades. I actually stayed at this Daegu location before. It's in a fantastic spot, right in the heart of the downtown commercial district. The hotel reception is on the seventh floor and features a huge lobby and breakfast area. All bookings include breakfast. The rooms are comfortable and even have a bathtub! It's about a fifteen-minute taxi ride from Daegu Dong (East) Station, and you can also get there by subway. The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day and can help you call a taxi. It's almost impossible to get a room on weekends, so remember to book in advance for a better price!

This hotel is in a lively area of Daegu, right next to the Yangnyeongsi market. There's a Haidilao and a 7-Eleven downstairs, and Dongseong-ro is nearby. However, you'll need to take the subway to get to Dongdaegu. Overall, I was very satisfied. Even though the hotel was busy every day, breakfast was never an issue; there were always plenty of seats. They had sukiyaki beef and radish beef soup, which was quite a good spread. The room was spacious enough to open three suitcases without a problem. My only minor complaint is that the air conditioning was very strong and made me feel a bit dizzy. Remember that hotels in Korea typically don't provide toothbrushes and toothpaste, so bring your own.

Great location, close to Half Moon Pavilion, and right in a lively area. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The room design was typical Toyoko Inn style. Excellent value for money, a fantastic choice for accommodation.
