Visited and received very warmly and duly shown to our table. The atmosphere was good and the room temperature was very pleasant. Drink orders taken and duly arrived without delay and the menu was explained to us in detail. Orders taken and arrived really freshly cooked and all meals purchased each person commented how nice they were. No sweets were ordered but had coffees. A very good idea is if someone is not hungry enough for a meal sandwiches can be made, in fact all was excellent and one of the best meals for some time. However one thing that strongly puts me off is the ever increasing assumption that we should pay an obligatory service charge. Yes you can request it to be removed but embarrassing in front of others. They assume you can afford the extra and that everything had been supplied to your satisfaction. Perhaps they in turn tip the postman, dray man, the fruit and veg and suppliers, refuse collectors and numerous others! I think not. For me this recently adapted revenue procedure spoils it.

Superb meal. The most delicious steak & ale pie. All served piping hot. Very reasonable prices. The staff could not be more obliging. Happily swooped chips for mash & beans for peas. The host Carl as charming and efficient as ever. Definitely recommended.

We stayed for two nights for a family wedding. We had tea on the Friday night and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, all servings were very tasty. The host on Friday 20 Sept and Saturday 21 Sept was exceptional. The place could do with a lick of paint in a few places but overall a very comfortable stay.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, the vegetarian main was delicious, Yorkers were superb, the kids portion was great for my hungry 10&7 year olds and such good value with the offers on. The pub is a lovely setting, nicely decorated and a good range of drinks too.

We had the pleasure of staying here for one night. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left the staff were friendly and attentive. We started our visit with a meal. There was plenty to choose from. The portions were good sized and reasonably priced. We could not fault the service. We ventured out and arrived back just before last orders. We were welcomed back and had a night cap before retiring. The room was light and airy. Breakfast was first class. Again excellent service and a lovely range of breakfasts on offer. Thank you for a lovely relaxed visit and thank you all for being so friendly and welcoming.

Great food and amazing breakfasts. The staff were attentive and tolerant and the atmosphere is relaxed and countrified. The rooms are clean and tidy, I would recommend bringing your own soaps and shampoos etc as their offering is basic. The dining room and common area is tasteful and modern, all in all great value for money and an accolade to the extra value you get from a thoughtfully run independent business.

We booked in advance from Canada and the check in was smooth and fast. The young man that greeted us was very friendly and helpful. We had booked a room for 3 nights with breakfast. There was a good selection for breakfast and we enjoyed it every morning. It's best to reserve your spot for dinner. The dinners we had there were very good. The service was impeccable. No complaints. The Inn is from about 1769 so lots of character and charm. I walk with a cane and we were given a room not in the main building itself so I wouldn't have to navigate the extra stairs. The room was lovely. I really appreciate your understanding and willingness to make the stay comfortable. We had a server named Ellie a couple of times who was a kind soul, friendly and patient. I didn't get everyone's names but everyone was helpful and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We are actually planning a trip back soon and hope to stay at The Wheatsheaf Inn to start our explorations and visiting family and friends. Starting there and working our way West, South and North again. Hope to see you again very soon!!

We stayed for one night at the end of a road trip and it was a good choice. The room just across the courtyard at the back of the pub. It was modern and of reasonable size, with a comfortable, chunky wooden framed bed. Be warned if you are not very tall, like me - I needed a step to be able to get up onto the bed. Luckily we had taken one with us on our trip for just such eventualities! The bathroom was modern and my partner was very happy with the deep jacuzzi style bath. We ate at the pub in the evening and the food was very good. There were several things we would have liked to try on the menu; it's a shame we don't live closer so that we could come back and try some of the other menu choices! Breakfast was delicious and it after two weeks on the road, it was nice to have other hot options besides the good old full English. We wouldn't hesitate to return if we were in the area.
