As an Ansty Village resident, we used to walk down to Ansty from the village for Sunday lunch before they stopped it. It used to be so wonderful with kind and friendly staff but sadly this is no longer the case on my last visit for an (attempted) evening meal with my family recently. Where do I start? I will list the issues I faced. Arrival. Not even a hello or acknowledgement as I walked through the door, just staff hanging around the reception area chatting away. They have a great fireplace which was always welcoming but this time a cold lobby area with no fire burning and no music. The place looks lovely but whats the point if the atmosphere is dead on first impressions. Nobody to greet us at the bar area. I understand that staff might be busy with tasks but the evening we arrived it was very quiet, almost like a morgue in the bar yet nobody again decided to even register that we were here. At this point I didnt even feel welcome at all. From this initial stage of arriving it got a lot worse. As nobody was serving or available on the bar we decided to take seats in the bar area only to hear a commotion in the corridor area between what I guess is management and staff. At this point we decided to leave without even a single member of staff acknowledging us. To me it was almost like walking into a very uninviting place. There are great places to dine in the area including the local pubs where you are always greeted but sadly this isn't one of them.
