Clanree Hotel & Leisure Centre

Great Place to stay in Letterkenny. Well cleaned place.

We spent two nights in the Clanree Hotel. Location is convenient. Room was spotless and spacious. Bed was comfortable. Bar food was very good and breakfast excellent - especially the porridge! Staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed only one night but really enjoyed the hotel, especially the staff who were all very welcoming and smiling, Food especially Breakfast was really good, and the bed was so very comfortable, and I loved the staircase, walking down like a movie star!! so expansive and at the same time quaint, all lovely

Hotel eas really clean. The staff are so professional and polite. Breakfast the next morning was good only the beans were cold tho?

Stayed on Sunday 6th October we were given a large well appointed spotlessly clean room , the country and western style live music in the bar that night was great , the breakfast on both mornings was very good and the bar meal meal in Monday night was first class , helpful and friendly staff throughout the hotel I would highly recommend a short stay here

After a long trip, we arrived at this hotel and my impression was not great. I rang the hotel early in the day to say that it would not be there until late and could we have evening dinner tomorrow instead of tonight. The person who answered said that I had no dinner booked and it took a while to resolve the matter. The 2nd was that I asked for 2 wine glasses to be left in the room. I asked this man as well but when I arrived, there was still no glasses in the room. This is poor attention to detail. There certainly was no "Cead Mile Failte" from the receptionist when I arrived. He genuinely seemed like he would prefer to be in bed than saying hello to guests. The room on the 2nd floor was comfortable. 2 twin beds, 2 comfortable chairs, a very good shower/bathroom area and the room itself was decent. However it got quite warm during the night. I would have reservations staying in this hotel if it was a hot day. Yes you can open the window and pray that it is not that noisy. Breakfast was very odd. It is served in the conference room. The seating and tables are lovely but where you get your food is like it is a school/prison canteen. The contrasts could not have been more different. Service was ok if slightly indifferent. However along came Natasha who was so friendly and went out of her way to help. She is one of two reasons why I gave this hotel four instead of three stars. There is a lot of reasons why this hotel is very average. The other was Patricia. As part of this package, we had evening dinner on a Saturday evening. We had to eat in the restaurant as the bar was fully booked. Patricia went out of her way to make sure we were looked after, constantly asking if we were ok while other staff just walked around doing nothing. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was decent as well. The swimming pool is lovely and it is refreshing to see that the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all worked. The lady at reception was very attentive and explained everything which is great. Again as we left, the receptionist felt like he had better things to do. There was no "how was the stay". It was goodbye and your bill is paid. There is certainly a number of things this hotel can do better but thankfully they have a few star performers. Pity about some others though.

If you are vegan or have food allergies this is not the place to have your Sunday lunch. We’ve been before and they weren’t able to supply dairy free options but we were told when we book next time to let them know and they will be able to provide alternatives. This however was not the case. For the first course, the soup had dairy and there were no other options available. For the starter they had 4 options vol au vent, egg mayonaise, prawn cocktail and a slice of melon, I asked the server which was dairy free and the young lady came back and said only the melon which was literally just a small slice of melon and half a strawberry. Then the main course I ordered some meat and asked which of the sides was dairy free, the chef told me none were and just stood there looking at me not offering me any alternatives. Another chef then came out and I asked her and she said they could make up something for me. Which I thought was nice of them so mentioned the table number I was sitting at and went back to the table to wait. In the meantime the others in my party went up to queue for the main course and was in the queue probably for 15 mins, they came back with their food and started eating. By the time they had finished I still hadn’t received mine, which was now about half an hour since I ordered it. I went back up to see if there was an issue and was told they couldn’t find me. So after giving them the table number again and sitting down about 5 mins later my food came out. It was the worst plate of food I’ve ever been served in a restaurant, the meat had dried out, the only potatoes they could give me were chips (which was actually the best part of the whole meal), hard carrots that were all dried out and going white on the top and a bowl of random veg that had lost their colour due to being so overcooked. Unfortunately I had to leave most of it as it wasn’t pleasant to eat. Then for dessert, the only thing they had I could eat was a small meringue and a spoonful of coulis on top and half a strawberry. There was not one choice for me I had to take what they gave me. The whole meal was very disappointing, they didn’t have dairy free butter, milk, cream or icecream even after ringing in advance. The cost of the carvery is well over €30 but not worth it if you have food intolerances or allergies as you have to make do with what they offer which is very poor. I left hungry.

Beautiful hotel very friendly staff. Leisure facilities brilliant everything very clean. The food was excellent and served very quickly in McGettigans staff also great. The choice at breakfast very good and plenty of staff looking after you. Thank you all
