Globales Costa Tropical

Honest review of this hotel, stayed for a week from 18/02. Our room was on the ground floor opposite the pool/pool bar. Our bathroom had bars in the window as it faces out on to a residential street, plus the window locks didn’t work. At first I didn’t like the room but after a think I thought actually were probably in the best place, especially during the day. Our room was spacious, typical Spanish room (I dislike those twin beds pushed together). It wasn’t the ritz but I didn’t pay for the ritz it was okay. The food was quite variable, sometimes you could find something, other times was a struggle. One night my meal was Brussels and a few onion rings as nothing else appealed. One gripe I had was the food station was quite small, just the one station and the food runs out really quickly, however, it’s not replenished in a timely manner. There is also a woman who stands at the station to make sure you put the spoons back in the right place, if you don’t you get a verse in Spanish, sadly I don’t know what she was saying but it didn’t sound uplifting. I don’t expect much from all inclusive food, we know it’s basic, greasy and cheap. But I’d like to be able to have at least a little something and quite a few nights I resorted to a dry bread bun with some cheese. The drinks were okay, Pepsi products, beer and wine was fine. You can’t help yourself like other Globales hotels I’ve been to which is a bit of a pain. Daniel in the pool bar was a good representative of this hotel, I noted he was in the restaurant at breakfast, all day at the pool bar and then in the evening bar until late. Despite this he was always friendly and I hope the management recognise his hard work. So…. Would I stay here again? I have stayed at several Globales properties and in all honestly I’ve sung their praises. This hotel didn’t quite match up to the Globales product I have experienced previously. When I come to this area I usually stay in Caleta itself, this is the first time I’ve stayed just outside. While there is easy access by walking, taxi etc to main centre, I felt like I was missing out from not being in the centre, so with that in mind I probably wouldn’t book here again, that with the poor food choices on offer pretty much seals the deal I wouldn’t book here again. In short this isn’t a despicable hotel, it’s kinda basic all inclusive in the canaries to an extent, however, it doesn’t match up to the Globales brand I’ve experienced in other hotels. I’m not saying don’t book, some of the peeves I’ve mentioned may not matter to you. You know what you like.

We came here for a cheap and cheerful getaway as a big group of 15. Everything was perfect!!! The food, clean rooms and top quality service from the staff! So much room for groups or families around the pool. Entertainment in the day for children was amazing, adults had a laugh joining in!! The evenings spent around the bar just provided non stop giggles and laughter! We didn’t expect the food to be anything but special, but the food was very nice and lots to pick from! The deserts, drinks and breakfast all very nice. The staff are so friendly, lovely and very helpful!! We walked across a path to the beach was around 10/15mins. This also had all the markets, bars and lots of other places to eat if you wanted to go out. Location was perfect!

Where do we begin. We went for a week for some cheap January sun; low expectations considering the cost. We literally wanted to sit on the sunbed with some passable food and drink, reading. Positives: Beds were comfy Staff were non existent - a blessing for some Beer was good - branded san Miguel If you mix the ice cream with the coffee to make affogato both are passable Useful shop onsite Negatives: Staff prefer Spanish guests. The Spanish get preferential EVERYTHING. This is blatant and obvious. Accommodation was not clean, curtains were especially gross and marked. Out of the five days we have spent here thus far, only one time have the rooms been cleaned. Went to the cafeteria, and due to one particular female staff members apparent marked dislike for English guests, she barked at me. We couldn’t understand a word she was saying and politely told her so. She then proceeds to touch my dress, grabbing it at the corners and indicating it was inappropriate for dinner. Bearing in mind we are a conservative Christian couple and this is the equivalent of Benidorm, (where many an evening a lady will turn up with a bikini and a see through wrap on) I was visibly shaken up and upset. There are no signs or staff indicating there is any dress code for dinner either. In any event, if there was an issue, there is NO NEED TO LUNGE AT AND TOUCH GUESTS. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. To say it is all-inclusive, and we all have wristbands, there is a confusing incessant need by staff to ascertain your room number each time you walk through the restaurant door. The food court has the appealing atmosphere of a school canteen, and the food to match - we survived on bread and salad. If you can stand the staff and the food, you’ll have a good time - just keep well away from them and enjoy the sun!!

We have friends in our village who stay several times a year for a 'cheap' week away in the sun and a group of 14 of us from our village recently went out for one's big birthday. Our friend, aware we usually stay at places like the Barcelo Royal Level sad 'it is a cheaper budget place that does what it says on the tin. Actually, we felt he was wrong and having come with lower expectations would be more than happy to return Firstly the not so good. This is short (it is a more budget place after all). The superior room we had suffered a light problem. There is a security light outside the bathroom window and because the bathroom to bedroom is a frosted glass arrangement we only managed to temper the light enough to sleep by taping a couple of towels over the window. We complained but the place was full. Come on .. put a ruddy blind up in the bathroom. Also, storage not great (which is fine) but a few coat hooks would have been very handy. We had an ant problem first night (and no this is not a cleanliness thing and has occurred in every hotel. The staff gave us a spray, duly applied and no more ants at all. The grounds have a few broken and odd-angled tiles but that is the same in every single hotel up to the top. We don't fret about that So that's it for 'problems'... barely a ripple ! The good can be summarised in 3 points: 1. It is very clean. Rooms are spotless 2. The staff are really friendly and there is a great ambiance around the place 3. The food (despite both our expectations and some other reports) was excellent. In fact, we would have had 3 meals a day every day (if we had not gone places) and been very happy. The chef and staff do a great job of mixing the salads up, several fresh and not overcooked dishes, great deserts (not the usual Germanic cream cakes) and very palatable wines on tap. the coffee machines are also terrific. In short, the best AI 'buffet' style food of any of the many trips to the island over 16 years Its a nice 30-40 coastal walk into Caleta but a taxi is quick and about 4 euro's. It is a budget hotel that more than delivers on that price bracket and we would definitely come again if the opportunity arose

We stayed here for 4 nights at a very reasonable price . First impressions the hotel is a bit dated but that didn’t really put us off . We stayed in one of the newly renovated apartments and I must say I was very impressed lean tidy and had everything we needed . Even air con some hotels we have stayed in there is an extra charge for air con and tv but there was no extra charge for using these. Breakfast lunch and dinner is what to be expected at most all inclusive hotels. They even had English sausages every morning again this is something I’ve found to be a once a week thing at other hotels. My son being a fussy eater wouldn’t touch anything in the restaurant so he ate down at minas which is a 5 minute stroll and is reasonably priced around 5 euros for a full English which ain’t bad. There is an onsite shop which is reasonably priced and stocks everything that you need for your trip . Entertainment is a bit dull in the evening but there’s a few bars round the corner that have karaoke and open quite late or you could take a half hour walk along the seafront to castella which has all your bars etc and is a lot more lively . My only gripe with this hotel is during the day the only bar open is the pool bar , the staff member serving would not stay behind the bar he would let a que of 10 people build up before he would walk back to the bar and then serve everyone then walk back tithe main building until another que would form. I’m only basing my review purely on what I paid for 4 nights it was a steal and really did beat going to work for 4 days , overall cheap and cheerful. I was looking to go again later in the year but it’s double what I paid to go in January so will look elsewhere.

Accommodation was excellent, food was good, the main problem was the location. The hotel was not near a beach. The nearest resort with a beach is Caleta de Fusta which is about 30 minutes walk, part of which was on an unpleasant path through a rocky area.
