We absolutely would stay at the Gaffer Inn again. We did read the previous reviews about the difficulty of navigating the front and back staircases to the second floor to our room, but we are in our sixties and you just had to be careful. It is easier to use the front stairs for unloading for sure. We stayed in room 3 and we absolutely loved the room. It was wonderful to have a separate tv/sitting area from the bed. We loved being right in the heart of Corning with all of the shopping and restaurants around. We loved sitting by the windows watching the happenings down on the street. We stayed during the week and our room was very quiet. It was great to be able to walk to so much including the Corning museum. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We never had an issue with parking. We look forward to staying here again for our future visits!

A little “creepy”. Starting with the navigation of either the front or back stairs was a bit unnerving. The back stairs and door at least should be washed and painted. A bit scary looking through the stair grates. The room #3 was clean/spacious, but was very dark. Needs more lighting for the price. Location was excellent for exploring Market St.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gaffer. We stayed during the week and room was super quiet whole time during our stay. Staff downstairs was super friendly and helpful when we arrived. Room was 2 large rooms and a lot bigger then we expected. Parking was close by and never any issues finding a spot. Great location to walk to shops and restaurants. Would stay here again when in the area.

Spacious room but needs some TLC. You're pretty much on your own here too. You check in with the bartender at the bar downstairs. A tenuous walk up to your room and just figure it out. It was ok but I wouldn't stay again although there aren't many options in Corning.

Great location in traffic free downtown Corning. Large ,comfortable accommodations. Beds comfortable, bathroom fine. Fireplaced living room, overlooking the main street. Only caution is a long staircase to get to the second floor(no elevator) Not a big deal unless you're older, schlepping bags up the stairs. . Good value in a great location to visit Corning and Rockwell museums and shops. I would be happy go back again.

Our room was so much more than we expected. The bedroom was large and offered the usual amenities but the surprise was large "living room". There was a gas fireplace, a roomy sitting room and tv. We felt like we could have stayed there for a long time and been very comfortable. The staff in the bar downstairs were very friendly and helpful. We were worried that it might be noisy in our room but it was not at all. The bar & grill was convenient and served good food for lunch or dinner. No breakfast. There was much more to do in Corning than we expected. Be sure to go to Watkins Glen. It is a short distance away and well worth it. Spectacular hike in a slot canyon.

Large, cozy room in the Gaffer District. The room was well appointed with two queen beds, a large comfy couch, electric fireplace and a small kitchenette. We were impressed with how clean the room was. Nice to have extra blankets if we needed them. Others had mentioned stairs. You do not need to access outside metal stairs at back of hotel as all rooms are accessible by front stairwell. Easy low rise stairs (about 20) Perfect location to go to restaurants, bars and shops by foot. A 10 minute walk to Corning Glass museum The listing had mentioned noise fro. Street and bar but we found the room very quiet (in November) We thought the $10 off coupon for the restaurant downstairs was a nice touch. Staff both checking in and cleaning were super friendly We will return. Nice for couples or girls weekend away.

We didn't know quite what to expect renting a room above a "Beer & Burger" restaurant; but we decided to try it. What a pleasant surprise! The room was delightful with two queen beds, a large leather sofa with ottoman, a little kitchenette, fireplace (which we did not use!) and a large bathroom. It was in the middle of Market Street with all of the little shops and restaurants a mere block or two away. We even stumbled on a little farmer's market/craft fair in the park. The weather was absolutely perfect; and we enjoyed window shopping along the street. There is a lovely glass store across the street with beautiful items that you can watch being blown. The ONLY two negatives are that they are serious about the stairs to the rooms. They are fairly steep when carrying a suitcase, especially. Also, the room is rather dark with only two little windows and minimal lighting. Otherwise, it was very pleasant and enjoyable. The "Beer and Burgers" was also very good with a nice atmosphere and friendly people.

We were visiting the area for 3 nights and were looking for something a little different than your standard hotel. We found that. Very nice large rooms. Our room faced Market Street. The only complaint we had was the room could use curtains as the street lights are right outside the windows making it quite bright in the room. Loved the location and how close it was to shops and lots of restaurants. Would definitely stay again. Another thing that would be nice is a toaster in the room for a quick brekkie before going. Not a complaint would just be a nice option to have.
